Mets vs. Giants Game 22 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-5 to  win their 8th consecutive game and  improve to 15-7. LF Michael Conforto led the offense with 3 RBI's. He had a 2 run double and a solo homer. 2B Neil Walker hit a 2 run single. 3B Wilmer Flores hit his first homer of the year.  RHP Jacob deGrom gave up 3 runs in 6 innings. He gave up 2 hits and 4 walks. He had 5 strikeouts. He picked up his 3rd win of the season. RHP Jim Henderson got the first 2 outs in the 7th. RHP Addison Reed gave up 2 runs, but he got the last out in the 7th. RHP Hansel Robles got the first 2 outs in the 8th. LHP Jerry Blevins got the last out in the 8th. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless 9th and picked up his 8th save of the season.

The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants tonight by a score of 13-1 to win their seventh consecutive game, They scored a team-high 12 runs in the third inning. CF Yoenis Cespedes led the Mets with 6 RBI's. He hit a 2 run single and a grand slam. LF Michael Conforto had 2 RBI's by a single and double. SS Asdrubral Cabrera hit a 2 run double. RF Curtis Granderson hit an RBI single. 2B Neil Walker continued his torrid start with an RBI double. CF Juan Lagares hit an RBI single. LHP Steven Matz pitched 6 shutout innings. He gave up 7 hits and 3 walks. He had 4 strikeouts. He picked up his 3rd win. LHP Jerry Blevins gave up a run in the 7th. RHP Logan Verrett pitched a scoreless 8th. The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds tonight 5-2 to sweep their 3 games and improve their record to 13-7. 1b Lucas Duda reached on an error which brought home the first run of the game. 2B Neil Walker continued his torrid start with 2 RBI's by a homer and single. He has now tied the Mets record for most homers in April with 9. LF Michael Conforto added a 2 run double. The Mets got a strong starter from RHP Matt Harvey. He gave up only 2 runs in 6 innings while giving up 7 hits and only one walk. He had 7 strikeouts. He picked up his 2nd win of the season. RHP Jim Henderson pitched a scoreless 7th. RHP Hansel Robles pitched a scoreless 8th. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless 9th and picked up his first save of the season.

Mets vs. Reds Game 19 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds tonight 4-3 to improve their record to 12-7. RHP Bartolo Colon gave up 3 runs in 5 innings. RHP Logan Verrett pitched 2 scoreless innings. He picked up his 3rd win of the season. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless 8th. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless 9th and picked up his 7th save. The Mets offense got a huge boost from CF Yoenis Cespedes who hit a 3 run pinch hit homer in the 7th to tie the game. 3B David Wright hit the game-winning RBI single later in the 7th to give the Mets the win.

Travis d'Arnaud Heading to DL

The Mets announced today that catcher Travis d'Arnaud will be placed on the DL with a rotator cuff strain in his right shoulder. Rene Rivera has been called up from Triple A in Las Vegas and will be catcher Kevin Plawecki's backup while d'Arnaud is out. There is no word on how long d'Arnaud will be out, but hopefully it will be only be 15 days.

The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 to improve their record to 11-7. LF Michael Conforto had another outstanding night at the plate going for 3 for 3 with a walk and 3 runs scored. He hit a homer in the first inning to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. 1B  Lucas Duda hit a 2 run homer. 2B Neil Walker hit a game-winning 2 run homer in the 8th. The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves today 3-2  to sweep their 3 game series and improve their record to 10-7. LF Michael Conforto let the Mets offense with 2 RBI's. He had an RBI double and sacrifice fly. 1B Lucas Duda also had a sac fly. RHP Jacob deGrom was solid in his first start in 16 days giving only one run in 5 2/3 innings. He had no walks and 3 strikeouts. He picked up his 2nd win of the season. RHP Jim Henderson got the last out in the 6th. RHP Hansel Robles pitched a scoreless 7th. LHP Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless 8th. Closer RHP Jeurys Familia gave up a run in the 9th, but picked up his 5th save of the season.

The Mets offense exploded for 8 runs and has finally started to hit with the kind of power we expected in the offseason. The New York Mets lost a tough game to the Philadelphia Phillies tonight 5-4 in 11 innings to drop their record to 7-7. RHP Hansel Robles gave up a run in the 11th and took the loss. RHP Addison Reed gave up the tying run in the 8th. RHP Bartolo Colon gave up 3 runs in 6 innings. The Mets offense continued their power surge with back-to-back homers by  CF Yoenis Cespedes and 1B Lucas Duda. SS Asdrubral Cabrera added an RBI double. 2B Neil Walker scored on a wild pitch. It always seems that Wright gets a homer in Philly at Citizens Bank Park. Neil Walker added a homer. Lucas Duda had 2 RBI's with a homer and double. Noah Syndergarrd was dominant once again. He gave up only one run in 7 innings on 5 hits and 2 walks. He picked up his 2nd win of the season. Antonio Bastardo pitched a scoreless 8th. Jeurys Familia gave up a run in the 9th.

Mets vs. Indians Game 11 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Cleveland Indians today 6-0 to take 2 out of 3 in the series and improve their record to 5-6. The Mets were led by starter LHP Steven Matz who pitched 7 shutout innings and picked up his first win of the year. He was outstanding and gave up only 3 hits and 2 walks. He had 9 k's and showed outstanding command of his curveball, fastball, and changeup. It's a great sign that he was able to have this kind of performance. The Mets offense continued to deliver with 6 runs off Indians starter RHP Corey Kluber who was the former AL Cy Young winner in 2014. LF Michael Conforto concluded his torrid series with 2 hits and 2 RBI doubles. He has looked very comfortable in the 3 spot. 1B Lucas Duda added a 2 run single. DH Yoenis Cespedes hit an RBI double. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit an RBI single. The Mets bullpen was strong today with 2 scoreless innings by RHP Hansel Robles in the 8th and LHP Jerry Blevins and RHP Addison Reed in the 9th. Hopefully the Mets can keep the momentum going in their next series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Mets vs Indians Game 10 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Cleveland Indians 7-5 to drop their record to 4-6. Mets starter RHP Matt Harvey struggled once again and gave up 5 runs and didn't make it out of the sixth starter. His record is now 0-3 to start the season. Harvey was cruising early on and retired the 12 batters he faced, before it all unraveled in the 5th inning. Rafael Montero came in after Harvey was taken out and gave up 2 runs. The Mets offense continued their power surge today with 3 more homeruns. Curtis Granderson led of the game with a homer. Yoenis Cespedes hit a 3 run homer in the 8th. Neil Walker added a homer in the 8th. It's a tough loss for the Mets, but the bigger issue is Matt Harvey. He hasn't looked like himself going back to Spring Training. His velocity isn't where is usually is, and is only topping out at 93 mph. Hopefully Harvey rights the ship and gets back to being the pitcher we saw last year and in 2013. The Mets need Harvey to be an ace in order to get to the World Series.

LF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer. Aledandro de Aza also hit a solo homer with 3 hits. Yoenis Cespedes also had 3 hits and added a 2 run homer. Neil Walker continued his hot start with a 2 run homer. The Mets got a solid start from RHP Bartolo Colon tonight. He gave up 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up 8 hits and 1 walk. He had 5 strikeouts. He picked up his first win of the season. LHP Antonio Bastardo pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. RHP Hansel Robles got the last out in the 7th. Mets vs. Marlins Game 8 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins today 2-1 to snap their 4 game losing streak, The only runs the Mets scored today were on a two run single by catcher Kevin Plawecki in the 7th. Mets starter Logan Verrett was outstanding today in a spot start with 6 scoreless innings. He gave up only 3 hits and 2 walks. Jim Henderson struggled in the 7th inning and wound up loading the bases. Fortunately, Hansel Robles came in and picked up 2 huge strikeouts. Jerry Blevins received the win even after giving up a run in 2/3 of an inning. Jeurys Familia came in after that and picked up a 5 out save, which was his 2nd of the season. Hopefully the Mets can build off this win and go on a winning streak. They have an off day tomorrow and then go to Cleveland for 3 games this weekend.

Game 7: Mets vs. Marlins recap

The New York Mets lost to the Florida Marlins again tonight by a score of 2-1. Noah Syndergarrd had an outstanding outing with 12 strikeouts and only one walk in 7 innings. He gave up just one run but had to pick up the no-decision due to the lack of run support. Jim Henderson gave up a run in the 8th and took the loss. The only run the Mets were able to score was on a RBI single by Lucas Duda. Hopefully the Mets offense starts to wake up. So far, they haven't hit up to preseason expectations.

Mets Call Up Rafael Montero

The New York Mets announced that they have called up RHP Rafael Montero from Triple-A in Las Vegas. The corresponding move has not been announced yet. It will mostly likely be Jacob deGrom going on the DL or on paternity leave. This was expected since the bullpen was taxed last night after going 7 1/3 innings. LHP Steven Matz only lasted 1 1/3 innings. Hopefully that Montero will be able to give some in the relief in the Mets bullpen for the next few games.

Mets vs. Marlins Game 6 Recap

 The New York Mets lost to the Florida Marlins tonight 10-3 to drop their record to 2-4. Mets starter LHP Steven Matz had the worst outing of his young career with giving up 7 runs in 1 1/3 innings. He was unable to make it out of the 2nd inning.  RHP Hansel Robels came in after Matz and gave up one run . LHP Antonio Bastardo gave up 2 runs. The Mets offense struggled once again outside of a Yoenis Cespedes RBI single. The only other 2 runs the Mets were able to score was on a wild pitch by Marlins starter Zack Cosart. Hopefully the Mets offense starts to hit again soon. They need Curtis Granderson and others to get going in order for the Mets to get back on track.

Mets Starter Jacob deGrom To Miss Next Start

The Mets announced that starting pitcher RHP Jacob deGrom will miss his next start on Wednesday because of a sore right lat muscle. RHP Logan Verrett will take his place again the Marlins. There is no MRI scheduled for deGrom. He says he's feeling much better.

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies today by a score of 5-2 and to lose two of three to the Phillies. Mets starter Matt Harvey gave up 3 innings in 6 innings to take the loss. His record is now 0-2 for the season. He was pitching well until the 6th inning where he gave up 2 runs. The Mets bullpen struggled today and gave up 2 runs in the 8th and 9th inning. Addison Reed gave up a run in the 8th. Logan Verrett gave up a run in the 9th. The only offense the Mets had was a 2 run homer by Yoenis Cespedes. The Mets offense has struggled so far, but it's a very long season. There is a lot of baseball left to be played. Their bats will begin to wake up soon.

Mets vs. Phillies Game 4 Recap

The Mets lost to the Phillies tonight 1-0. Bartolo Colon pitched a terrific outing giving up only one run in 6 innings. The only mistake he made was a homer by Ryan Howard in the 5th. The Mets weren't able to generate any offense in support of Colon. They had just 3 hits. They didn't have a hit after the 5th inning. Hopefully the Met offense can bounce back tomorrow.

Mets vs. Phillies Game 3 Recap

The Mets defeated the Phillies today 7-2 to improve to a record of 2-1. Michael Conforto lead the Mets offense with 3 RBI's. He hit a 2 run single and a RBI double. Neil Walker added 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Travis d'Arnaud hit a RBI single. Jacob deGrom hit an RBI groundout. He pitched 6 outstanding innings. He only gave up 1 run and gave up 5 hits. He had 6 strikeouts and no walks. He picked up his first win of the season. Jim Henderson pitched another scoreless inning. RHP Hansel Robles gave up 1 run in the 8th in 1/3 of an inning. LHP Jerry Blevins got the last 2 outs in the 8th. LHP Antonio Bastardo pitched a scoreless 9th to close the game.

Mets vs. Royals Game 2 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Kansas City Royals today by a score of 2-0. Neil Walker provided the offense for the Mets with a 2 run homer. RHP Noah Syndergarrd was outstanding in 6 dominating innings with 9 strikeouts. He got out of several jams and showed a lot of composure. He gave up only 3 hits and 1 walk. He looked like an ace today. Jim Henderson pitched a terrific 7th inning in his Met debut retiring the Royals in order. Addison Reed pitched a scoreless 8th. Jeurys Familia had a 1-2-3 9th and picked up his 1st save of the year. This was a key win for the Mets since they needed to split their series against the Royals. They return to action on Friday in their home opener against the Royals. The pitching match-up is Jacob degrom vs. Jerad Eickhoff.

Mets vs. Royals Game 1 Recap

Last night, the New York Mets lost to the Kansas City Royals 4-3 in the first game of the season. Matt Harvey didn't have his best stuff and gave up 4 runs. However, only 3 were earned. He had sharp secondary pitches, but he had trouble commanding his fastball. The Mets offense was lifeless until the 8th inning when their bats finally started to wake up. 1b  Lucas Duda hit a 2 run single and 2b Neil Walker grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run. SS Asdrubal Cabrera stuck out with 2 men on and 2 out in the 8th to end the inning. In the 9th inning, the Mets had another rally with a walk by catcher Travis d'Arnaud and a single by RF Curtis Granderson. They were unable to tie the game as 3b David Wright and LF Yoenis Cespedes both struck out to end the game. The Mets hope to bounce back tomorrow and split their series against the Royals. The game time is 4:15 with a pitching matchup of Noah Syndergarrd against former met starter Chris Young.
