The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the bottom of the first after catcher Francisco Alvarez reached on an infield single which brought home a run.
In the bottom of the eighth, 1B Pete Alonso hit a game-tying RBI double.
In the bottom of the ninth, LF Rafael Ortega hit a walk-off single.
LHP David Peterson had a strong outing allowing one run on three hits in seven innings.
Peterson gave up three walks with eight strikeouts.
RHP Drew Smith followed in the top of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to 2B Luis Rengifo.
RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his first win.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, August 28 at home against the Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m.

RHP Carlos Carrasco got into immediate trouble in the top of the first after he gave up a double to DH Shoehei Ohtani and then a double to the following hitter 2B Brandon Drury.
It all fell apart for Carrasco in the top of the second after he gave up a lead-off homer to CF Mickey Moniak and then later in the inning with two outs, a single to SS Luis Rengifo and then a RBI triple by Ohtani and a RBI double by Drury and then Carrasco was taken out.
Carrasco's final line was 1.2 innings, seven hits, five runs, 0 walks and one strikeout.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
RHP Phil Bickford followed and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth.
RHP Drew Smith threw a scoreless top of the sixth.
LHP Adam Kolorek threw a scoreless top of the seventh.
RHP Adam Ottavino came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
LHP Brooks Raley threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the bottom of the fourth after SS Francisco Lindor and 2B Jeff McNeil hit back-to-back singles and then Lindor scored on a wild double steal-attempt on a throwing error by 1B Trey Cabbage after he hit Angels starting pitcher RHP Chase Silseth in the head and then Silseth had to leave the game.
Later in the inning, RF DJ Stewart continued his hot stretch with a RBI double.
In the bottom of the sixth, DH Daniel Vogelbach hit a solo homer.
The offense struggled all night with men on base going 1-10 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, August 27 at home against the Angels at 12:05 p.m. on Peacock.

RHP Kodai Senga started out well with two scoreless innings, but in the top of the third inning, gave up a lead-off hit by pitch to 1B Nolan Schanuel and then a double to the following hitter DH Shohei Ohtani.
Senga then gave up a RBI single to 2B Brandon Drury and a sacrifice fly to 3B Mike Moustakis.
Senga was able to settle in after that and did not allow any more runs.
His final line was 6.2 innings, four hits, two runs, three walks and 10 strikeouts.
LHP Adam Kolarek followed and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
RHP Trevor Gott had to come in to get the last out in the top of the eighth.
RHP Sam Coonrod ran into trouble in the top of the ninth after giving up two walks and was then taken out.
LHP Brooks Raley appeared next and gave up a RBI single to Schanuel, but then picked up the last out in the top of the ninth.
The Met offense did no much for the first six innings outside of a solo homer by SS Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the third.
In the bottom of the sixth, they had a scoring opportunity after 2B Danny Mendick led off with a double and then 3B Jonathan Arauz followed with a bunt single with no outs.
However, LF Tin Locastro struck out and then CF Brandon Nimmo hit a shallow fly ball to LF for the second out and Mendick was thrown out out at home trying to score to ruin the chance to score.
In the bottom of the ninth, pinch-hitter Daniel Vogelbach struck out with the tying run on first for the last out of the game.
