Mets Beat Phillies 4-1 Behind Canha and Carrasco

 The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 29-27.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, but in the bottom of the third, DH Daniel Vogelbach led off with a walk and then LF Mark Canha followed with a two-run homer.

In the following inning, 1B Pete Alonso walked with one out and then 3B Brett Baty followed with a walk.

Two batters later Vogelbach walked to load the bases and then Canha came up and capped off his stellar night at the plate with a two-run single for his third and fourth RBI of the game.

RHP Carlos Carrasco started out well with two scoreless innings, but in the top of third, he gave up a solo homer to 3B Edmundo Sosa.

Carrasco settled down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the fourth, and fifth and sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, six hits, one run, one walk and four strikeouts.

Carrasco had sharp command with his splitter and fastball which helped keep hitters off balanced.

He picked up his second win.

LHP Brooks Raley followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Adam Ottavino came in next and got the last two outs in the top of the eighth.

RHP David Robertson closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his 10th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, June 1 at home against the Phillies at 1:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Phillies 2-0 Led By Dominating Start From Senga

 The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 tonight at Citi Field to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 28-27.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until SS Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth.

In the bottom of the seventh, RF Starling Marte singled with one out and then advanced to second after 2B Jeff McNeil hit a sacrifice bunt.

LF Tommy Pham followed with a walk and then 3B Eduardo Escobar delivered a much needed insurance run with a RBI single.

RHP Kodai Senga had his best start of his career throwing seven scoreless innings with one hit and no walks with nine strikeout.

Senga gave up a one-out single to 1B Kody Clemens in the top of the third and then dominated after that retired 14 consecutive hitters and was out helped by his defense in the top of the fourth after CF Brandon Nimmo made an incredible leaping catch at the wall to rob RF Nick Castellanos of a solo homer.

Senha had exceptional control with his fastball and forkball all night which helped not give up any walks.

He showed how dominant he can when he is commanding his fastball and forkball or "ghostfork."

Senga picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 3.44.

RHP Adam Ottavino came in next and had a scoreless top of the eighth and also was helped out by his defense after catcher Francisco Alvarez threw out catcher J.T. Realmuto trying to steal second.

RHP David Robertson closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his ninth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 31 at home against the Phillies at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose To Rockies 11-10 After Megill and Bullpen Struggle

 The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 11-10 this afternoon at Coors Field to lose two out of three games in the series and back their record back to .500 at 27-27.

RHP Tylor Megill started out well with two scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of teh third after he gave up RBI singles to CF Randall Grichuk and 2B Harold Castro.

Megill's troubles continued in the bottom of the fourth after he gave up a based clearing double to 3B Ryan McMahon and a RBI double to Grichuk and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, 10 hits, six runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Stephen Nogosek came in next in the bottom of the fifth and had an awful inning allowing five runs on four runs.

RHP Dominic Leone followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

RHP Jeff Brigham came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Tommy Hunter got the first two outs in the bottom of the eighth and LHP Brooks Raley got the last out in the bottom of the eighth.

After scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a solo homer.

In the top of the ninth, pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil singled with one out and then Marte walked.

Pham followed with a two-run triple, but then pinch-hitter Brett Baty grounded to bring in the third run of the inning.

Eduardo Eduardo then grounded out for the final out of the game.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, May 30 back at home against the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose To Rockies 10-7 Due To Struggles from Verlander and Bullpen

 The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 10-7 tonight at Coors Field and dropped their record to 27-26.

RHP Justin Verlander had a rough outing allowing six runs on nine hits in five innings. He gave up one walk and two strikeouts.

RHP Dominic Leone followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

RHP Jeff Brigham gave up two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

RHP Drew Smith gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth,

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth.

In the top of the sixth, 3B Brett Baty hit a RBI double and RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI ground-out.

Three batters later, tookie catcher Francisco Alvarez continued his torrid start with a three-run homer. 

In the top of the seventh, Marte hit a RBI single.
