Robinson Cano Placed on IL and Luis Guillorme Called Up

The New York Mets announced today that they have placed second baseman Robinson Cano on the IL. Infielder Luis Guillorme has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse as corresponding roster move. Guillorme has hit .307 in 97 at-bats in Triple-A and .202 over 97 ML plate appearances.

Mets vs. Pirates Game 111 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 13-2 this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series for their ninth win their last ten games and improved their record to 55-56. The offense exploded for 16 hits and 13 hits. CF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer in the top of the first inning. 2B Robinson Cano followed with a double and LF J.D Davis hit a two-run homer. RF Jeff McNeil led off the top of the third inning with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. 1B Todd Frazier followed with a RBI single and Cano hit another double for his second of the day and drove in a run. Davis followed with an RBI single. In the top of the fourth inning, Frazier hit a two-run single. In the top of the sixth inning, RHP Noah Syndergarrd led off with a single, McNeil walked and CF Juan Lagares hit an RBI double with two outs. SS Amed Rosario followed by reaching on an error by Pirates 3B Colin Morran which scored McNeil and Lagares. McNeil hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd had another dominating performance allowing one run on three hits in seven innings Syndergarrd had three strikeouts and gave up one walk. He picked up his eighth win and lowered his ERA to 3.96. LHP Donnie Hart made his debut in the bottom of the eighth after he was called up from Triple-A after RHP Jacob Rhyme was placed on the 10-day IL and claimed on waivers from the Brewers on Saturday. Hart threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth, RHP Jeurys Familia gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Injury News
2B Robinson Cano left the game in the top of the fifth with a left hamstring strain.

The Mets are back home tomorrow and have a double-header with the Marlins. The first game starts at 4:10 p.m. and the second game will start shortly after.

Mets vs. Pirates Game 110 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-5 tonight and improved their record to 54-56. Catcher Wilson Ramos led the way with six RBI's. Ramos hit a RBI single in the top of the first inning, two run homer in the top of the eighth and a three-run bases clearing double in the top of the ninth. Pinch hitter Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer in the top of the seventh.

RHP Marcus Stroman gave up three runs in 4.1 innings in his team debut. LHP Luis Avivan got one out in the bottom of the fifth. RHP Jacob Rhyme threw 1.1 scoreless innings. LHP Justin Wilson threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. Wilsoin picked up his third win. RHP Seth Lugo threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Edwin Diaz gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but managed to close it out.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Pirates at 1:35 p.m.

Mets vs. Pirates Game 109 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-4 tonight to snap their seven game winning streak and dropped their record to 53-56. LHP Steven Matz started out well with three scoreless innings, but it all fell apart in the bottom of the fourth. Matz gave up five runs in the bottom of the fourth and was taken out with two outs. His final line was 3.2 innings, 6 hits, 5 earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts. RHP Robert Gsellman followed with 2.1 scoreless innings. RHP Tyler Bashlor gave up a three-run homer to CF Starling Marte in the bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.

The offense got on the board early in the top of the first inning after RF Jeff McNeil led off with a double and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso drove in McNeil with an RBI double. 2B Robinson Cano followed with a single to move Alonso to third base and catcher Wilson Ramos hit an RBI grounder. In the top of the third inning, Alonso walked, Cano singled and LF J.D Davis hit an RBI double. In the top of the seventh inning, CF Michael Conforto and Alonso singled and Cano hit a bloop to drive in a run, but Ramos grounded out to end the inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Pirates at 7:10 p.m.
