The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 4-2 tonight at loanDepot Park and dropped their record to 2-3.

RHP Kodai Senga got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to SS Xavier Edwards and then a two-run homer to the following hitter LF Kyle Stowers.

Senga had back-to-back scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third, but then ran into more trouble in the bottom of the fourth.

He was let down by his defense after SS Francisco Lindor made an error to start off the inning and after retiring the next two hitters, walked DH Jonah Bride and then gave up a two-run double to the next hitter 3B Graham Pauley.

Senga had a scoreless bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, four runs, (two earned runs), one walk and eight strikeouts.

RHP Max Kranick followed with three scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

After a scoreless top of the first, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in the first Met run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the second.

In the top of the third, 2B Luisangel Acuna doubled and then Lindor followed with a game-tying RBI single.

The Met offense did not do much after that and the next 12 consecutive hitters were retired.

In the top of the ninth, they had a chance to tie the game or take the lead after RF Juan Soto walked and then 1B Pete Alonso beat out a double play grounder and then Nimmo singled with one out

However, 3B Mark Vientos popped out and DH Jesse Winker popped out to end the game.

The offense was not able to come up with the timely hit going 1-5 with runners in scoring position leaving four runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, April 2 at the Marlins at 4:40 p.m.
