Mets Lose to Astros 10-5 In 11 Innings After Bullpen Blows Another Game

The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 10-5 in 11 innings this afternoon at Citi Field to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to under .500 at 40-41.

RHP Luis Severino had a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a solo homer to 1B Jon Singleton in the top of the second.

Severino had a scoreless top of the third and then gave up two more runs in the top of the fourth on a RBI single by catcher Yainer Diaz and later in the inning, a RBI ground-out by CF Jake Meyers.

Severino allowed another run in the top of the fifth on an infield hit by 2B Jose Altuve.

Severino was able to settle down with scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was seven innings, eight hits, four runs, one walk and three strikeouts.

RHP Adrian Houser followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the tenth and gave up a RBI single to LF Chas McCormick.

RHP Matt Festa made his Met debut in the top of the tenth and got into immediate trouble allowing three straight singles and then gave up a RBI single to Meyers.

Later in the inning, Festa gave up a two-run single to 1B Joey Loperfido and a two-run single to LF Trey Cabbage.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the five innings until CF Brandon Nimmo led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso doubled.

Later in the inning, 3B Mark Vientos drove in Nimmo and Alonso with a two-run double.

In the bottom of the seventh, catcher Luis Torrens led off with a walk and three batters later, Nimmo tied the game with a two-run homer.

Before the bottom of the ninth, there was a 2-hour, 47-minute rain delay and then the offense went down 1-2-3 in the ninth.

In the bottom of the the tenth, Nimmo led off with a RBI double to bring in Lindor for tying run, but then D.H. J.D. Martinez struck out and after Alonso was intentionally walked, Bader grounded out to second and Vientos grounded out to third to ruin their best chance to win the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, July 1 at the Washington Nationals at 6:45 p.m.

Mets Lose to Astros 9-6 After Bullpen Blows Late Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 9-6 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap their four-game winning streak and dropped their record back to .500 at 40-40.

RHP Tylor Megill had a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a solo homer to CF Jake Meyers in the top of the second.

Megill had a scoreless top of the third and then had a tough top of the fourth after he gave up a two-run double to SS Jeremy Pena and later in the inning a RBI single to 1B Jon Singleton.

Megill had a scoreless top of the fifth and picked up one out in the top of the sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was 5.1 innings, five hits, four runs, three walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Ty Adcock followed with 1.2 scoreless innings.

LHP Jake Diekman came on in the top of the eighth and walked the first two hitters he faced and then retired the next two hitters he faced and was taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett had to come in and walked pinch-hitter Mike Cabbage and then gave up a run on a wild pitch.

Garrett then walked 2B Jose Altuve and gave up a two-run single to 3B Alex Bregman.

LHP Danny Young came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a two-run double to RF Mauricio Dubon.

The Met offense erupted in the bottom of the second for five runs after 2B Jose Iglesias reached on an infield hit which brought home a run and then CF Harrison Bader drove in a run with a RBI single.

LF Brandon Nimmo then drove in a run with a RBI double and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run single.

3B Mark Vientos drove in a run in the bottom of the third on a solo homer.

The offense was not able to score any more runs after the third and could not get any tack on runs which came back to haunt them later in the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 30 at home against the Astros at 1:40 p.m.

Mets Beat the Astros 7-2 Led By McNeil

The New York Mets beat the Houston Astros 7-2 tonight at Citi Field for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record back to over .500 at 40-39.

In the bottom of the first, catcher Francisco Alvarez drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fourth, RF Tyrone Taylor drove in a run on a solo homer.

In the bottom of the sixth, 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the seventh, 2B Jeff McNeil broke the game open with a three-run homer.

In the bottom of the eighth, SS Francisco Lindor tacked on a RBI with a RBI double.

LHP Jose Quintana did not have his best outing allowing two runs on six hits in four innings.

He gave up three walks with seven strikeouts.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless top of the fifth.

RHP Dedneil Nunez came in next and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

Nunez gave up three hits with one walk and one strikeout.

He picked up his second win.

LHP Jake Diekman threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Reed Garrett closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

Mets Rout Yankees 12-2 to Sweep First Subway Series and Reach 500

The New York Mets beat the New York Yankees 12-2 tonight at Citi Field to sweep the first round of the Subway Series and improved their record back to .500 at 39-39.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, but in the bottom of the third, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a double and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a walk.

J.D. Martinez then hit a RBI single and two batters later, catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fifth, Nimmo led off with another walk and two batters later 1B Pete Alonso walked.

Alvarez followed with a RBI double for his third RBI of the game and then RF Tyrone Taylor walked to load the bases.

3B Mark Vientos followed with a walk to bring in a run and then 2B Jeff McNeil drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

CF Harrison Bader capped off the scoring in the inning with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the sixth, Alonso was hit by a pitch with two outs and Alvarez followed with a single.

Taylor came up next and broke the game open with a three-run homer.

In the bottom of the seventh, Bader led off with a homer.

In the bottom of the eighth, Alonso led off with a single and then pinch-hitter Luis Torrens reached on an infield single.

Two batters later, Vientos drove in Alonso with a RBI single.

LHP Sean Manaea threw five scoreless innings allowing two hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

Manaea picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 3.89.

LHP Danny Young followed in the top of the sixth and gave up a two-run homer to CF Aaron Judge and recorded only one out.

RHP Adam Ottavino had to come in and got the last two outs in the inning.

RHP Adrian Houser came in next and closed it out with three scoreless innings in the top of the seventh, eighth and ninth to pick up his first save of the season.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, June 28 at home against the Houston Astros at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Hang Out To Beat Yankees 9-7 Powered By Four Homers

The New York Mets beat the New York Yankees 9-7 tonight at Citi Field for the first game of the Subway Series and improved their record to 38-39.

The Met offense got on the board in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a double and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a walk.

Two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso walked and then catcher Francisco Alvarez walked to load the bases.

RF Tyrone Taylor followed with a RBI single to score Lindor, but Alonso was thrown out at the plate.

In the bottom of the second, 3B Mark Vientos led off with a homer and two batters later, CF Harrison Bader hit a solo homer of his own.

In the bottom of the fourth, Vientos led off with another homer and then 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a single.

Three batters later, Nimmo delivered with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the sixth, McNeil led off with a single and stole second and then Bader followed with a single.

Two batters later, Nimmo reached on an error by 2B Gleyber Torres which allowed McNeil to score.

D.H. J.D. Martinez followed with a RBI double and then Alonso drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

LHP David Peterson worked out of his way out of a bases loaded no-out jam in the top of the first not allowing any runs and settled down after that.

Peterson threw three scoreless innings in the top of the second, third and fourth and then gave up a solo homer to RF Juan Soto in the top of the fifth and was taken out in the middle of the inning.

His final line was 4.1 innings, three hits, one run, five walks and eight strikeouts.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed and was able to get a double play to end the inning.

Nunez stayed in for the top of the sixth and threw a scoreless inning.

Nunez came back out for the top of the seventh and gave up a RBI double to CF Aaron Judge, but then came back to get the last two outs in the inning and came out.

Nunez's final line was 2.2 innings, one hit, one run, and two strikeouts.

He picked up his first win.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the eighth and gave up a lead-off single and walk and was then taken out.

LHP Danny Young followed and gave up a single to pinch-hitter Austin Wells and two batters later walked Soto to load the bases and was taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett came on and gave up a grand slam to Judge and then came back to retire 2B Gleyber Torres on a ground-out to end the inning.

Garrett stayed in for the top of the ninth and had a 1-2-3 inning to close out the victory.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 26 at home against the Yankees at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Cubs 5-2 To Take Series and Diaz Gets Ejected

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 5-2 tonight at Wrigley Field to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 37-39.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after CF Harrison Bader doubled with one out and then SS Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer.

LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a solo homer of his own.

After a scoreless top of the fourth, Bader hit another one-out double in the top of the fifth and then Lindor was hit by a pitch and then Bader and Lindor pulled off a double steal.

Nimmo followed with a walk to load the bases and then D.H. J.D. Martinez drove in a run on a RBI ground-out.

In the top of the eighth, 3B Mark Vientos hit a solo homer to CF that traveled 451 feet.

RHP Luis Severino had an outstanding start with six scoreless innings allowing three hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts.

Severino had outstanding command of his fastball, slider and change-up.

He picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 3.29.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a two-run homer to 3B Christopher Morel.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came in for the bottom of the ninth and was ejected before even throwing a pitch for having too much sticky substance on his hands.

This will result in a 10-game suspension

RHP Drew Smith had to come in and picked up the first two outs in the inning.

LHP Jake Diekmann came on to get the last out and picked up his third save.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Tuesday, June 25 at home in the first game of the Subway Series against the Yankees at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose To Cubs 8-1 After Megill Struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 8-1 this afternoon at Wrigley Field and dropped their record to 36-39.

RHP Tylor Megill got off to rocky start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off walk 2B Nico Hoerner and then threw a wild pitch to advance Horner to second.

Megill walked RF Cody Bellinger and then gave up a RBI single to DH Seiya Suzuki.

Megill's struggles continued later in the inning after he gave up a RBI ground-out to LF Ian Happ and and a RBI single by 3B Christopher Morel.

It only got worse for Megill in the inning after he gave up a RBI double to SS Dansby Swanson and a RBI triple to CF Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Megill had a scoreless bottom of the second and then gave up a solo homer to Morel in the bottom of the third and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was three innings, five hits, six runs, three walks and six strikeouts.

LHP Danny Young followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Adrian Houser came in next and allowed one run on four hits in 3.2 innings on a RBI ground-out by Bellinger.

The Met offense did not do much outside of a solo homer by catcher Francisco Alvarez in the top of the fifth.

Mets Rout Cubs 11-1 With Powerful Offense

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 11-1 this afternoon at Wrigley Field and improved their record to 36-38.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a double and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a walk.

DH J.D. Martinez came up next and continued his torrid stretch with a three-run homer.

In the top of the second, catcher Francisco Alvarez led off with a homer and 2B Jose Iglesias followed with a single.

Three batters later, Nimmo broke the game open with a three-run homer.

In the top of the third, 1B Pete Alonso led off with a double and then RF Starling Marte reached first with a bunt single.

Later in the inning, Iglesias drove in Alonso with a RBI single.

In the top of the fourth, Lindor led off with another double and then Nimmo singled

Martinez followed with a RBI single and then Alonso walked to load the bases.

Marte followed by grounding into a fielder's choice to bring in a run and two batters later Alvarez walked.

Iglesias then drove in his second RBI of the game on another RBI single.

LHP Jose Quintana was let down by his defense in the bottom of the first after 3B Mark Vientos made an error, but then came back to retire DH Christopher Morel on a double play which brought in a run.

Quintana settled down after that and turned in a fine outing and did not allow any more runs.

His final line was 6.1 innings, four hits, one run (0 earned), one walk and eight strikeouts.

He picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 4.58.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with 1.2 scoreless innings.

RHP Drew Smith closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday June 22 at the Cubs at 2:20 p.m.

Mets Lose to Rangers 5-3 After Bullpen Struggles To Snap Winning Streak

The New York Mets lost to the Rangers 5-3 tonight at Globe Life Field to snap their seven-game winning streak and dropped their record to 35-38.

LHP Sean Manaea got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first giving up three walks and then hit CF Wyatt Lankford to bring in a run.

Manaea settled down after that retiring the next 14 hitters he faced and then ran into trouble in the bottom of the sixth.

Manaea gave up a one-out double to LF Robbie Grossman and then two batters later, a RBI double to DH Josh Smith and was then taken out.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in next and gave up the game-tying RBI single to Lankford.

In the bottom of the seventh, RHP Drew Smith gave up the game-winning two-run homer to CF Leody Tavares.

In the bottom of the eighth, RHP Adrian Houser threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the top of the fourth after LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double and then D.H. J.D. Martinez followed with a walk.

Two batters later, RF Starting Marte drove in the tying run with a RBI double.

In the top of the sixth, Martinez drew another walk with one out and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer for his 16th homer and 42 RBI of the season.

After the sixth, the offense did not do much after that managing only one more hit.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, June 22 at the Chicago Cubs at 2:20 p.m.

The New York Mets beat the Texas Rangers 7-6 tonight at Globe Life Stadium for their seventh consecutive win and improved their record to 35-37.

3B Mark Vientos drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the second,

In the top of the fifth, Vientos and catcher Francisco Alvarez singled and then CF Harrison Bader drove in Vientos with a RBI ground-out.

In the top of the sixth, LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a homer,

In the top of the seventh, Vientos and Alvarez singled once again and then pinch-hitter D.J. Stewart walked to load the bases.

SS Francisco Lindor followed by grounding into a fielder's choice which brought home a run.

In the top of the eighth, Alonso singled with one out and RF Starling Marte followed with a single.

Two batters later, Alvarez came up and delivered a clutch two-run double to tie the game.

In the top of the ninth, Nimmo walked with one out and then D.H. J.D. Martinez reached first on a catcher interference.

Alonso came up next and drove in the game-winning run on a RBI double.

RHP Luis Severino had scoreless innings in the bottom of the first and second, and then gave up a run in the bottom of the third on a RBI ground-out by SS Corey Seager.

Severino had a scoreless bottom of the fourth, but then it all came apart for him in the bottom of the fifth.

Severino gave up back-to-back hits to begin the inning and then gave up a RBI single to Seager.

Severino allowed a three-run homer to the following hitter D.H. Josh Smith and two batters later, gave up a solo homer to LF Wyatt Lankford.

Severino recorded one out in the bottom of the seventh and was then taken out.

His final line was 6.1 innings, eight hits, six runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

Mets Crush Rangers 14-2 With Offensive Explosion

The New York Mets beat the Texas Rangers 14-2 tonight at Globe Life Stadium for their sixth consecutive win and improved their record to 34-37.

The Met offense broke out with 22 hits and seven of the nine players had two or more hits and five of the nine players three or more hits.

In the top of the first, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single and two batters later, D.H. J.D. Martinez singled.

1B Pete Alonso drove in the first run of the game with a RBI single.

In the top of the second, 3B Mark Vientos led off with a single and two batters later, 2B Jeff McNeil singled.

Lindor followed with a RBI single and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a RBI single.

Two batters later, Alonso drove in another run on a RBI single and then RF D.J. Stewart broke the game open with a three-run homer.

In the top of the fourth, Lindor led off with a single and then Nimmo followed with a two-run homer.

In the top of the fifth, catcher Francisco Alvarez singled with one out and then McNeil walked.

Lindor followed with a RBI double and then Nimmo hit a RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, Stewart singled with one out and two batters later, Vientos singled.

Alvarez followed with a RBI single of his own.

In the top of the eighth, CF Tyrone Taylor was hit by a pitch with one out and then Vientos followed with a double.

Alvarez then drove in his second RBI of the game with a RBI single and McNeil grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run.

LHP David Peterson had two scoreless innings and then gave up a two-run homer to DH Robbie Grossman in the bottom of the third.

Peterson settled down after that and had scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth, fifth and sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was six innings, four hits, two runs, three walks and six strikeouts

He picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 3.97.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth.

RHP Drew Smith closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

Mets Sweep Padres 11-6 After Offense Continues to Erupt

The New York Mets beat the San Diego Padres 11-6 at Citi Field this afternoon to sweep their three-game series and fourth consecutive win overall to improve their record to 33-37.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a solo homer and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed a single.

D.H. J.D. Martinez then walked and 1B Pete Alonso came up and broke out of his slump with a three-run homer.

The offense did not do much in the next two innings, but then came alive again in the bottom of the fourth.

Catcher Luis Torrens led off with a single and then advanced to second on a wild pitch by RHP Dylan Cease.

Two batters later, CF Harrison Bader drove in Bader with a RBI double.

Bader later advanced to third on another wild pitch by Cease and Lindor followed by driving in another run on a sacrifice fly.

Nimmo then hit another single and Martinez came up next and continued his torrid stretch with a RBI double.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh, Torrens led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer.

2B Jeff McNeil followed with a double and then Bader singled and stole second.

Lindor walked to load the bases and Nimmo followed with a RBI single.

Two batters later, Alonso broke the game open with a two-run single.

RHP Tylor Megill had a decent start allowing two runs on five hits in five innings.

He gave up two walks with five strikeouts.

Megill picked up his second win.

RHP Adrian Houser followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

Houser came back out for the top of the eighth and was taken out after he gave up a lead-off single to DH Jurickson Profar and was then taken out.

LHP Jake Diekman came in next and gave up an inherited run that was charged to Houser on a based loaded walk to CF Jackson Merrill.

Diekman then allowed another run on a RBI ground-out by LF David Peralta and was then taken out.

RHP Drew Smith came on and gave up a RBI double to SS Ha-Seong Kim.

Smith was then helped out by his defense after Bader made a stellar leaping catch to hold catcher Luis Campusano to a sacrifice fly.

Smith gave up a single to the following hitter 1B Luis Arraez and then came back to strike out RF Fernando Tatis Jr to get out of the inning and keep a one-run lead.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, June 17 at the Texas Rangers at 8:05 p.m.

Mets Beat Padres 5-1 Powered By Two Homers By JD Martinez

The New York Mets beat the San Diego Padres 5-1 at Citi Field this afternoon for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 32-37.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings and then came alive in the bottom of the fourth.

SS Francisco Lindor doubled with two outs and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a RBI double.

DH J.D. Martinez then delivered a two-run homer to the opposite field in right field.

In the bottom of the seventh, Martinez led off and came through with another opposite field homer, his second of the day and third homer in last three days.

Martinez has been red hot in the last three games with three homers and seven RBIs.

In the bottom of the eighth, 2B Jeff McNeil led off with a single and then three batters later, Nimmo capped off the scoring with an RBI single, his second RBI of the game.

LHP Jose Quintana had a fine outing allowing one run on two hits in six hits on a solo homer by CF Jackson Merrill in the top of the sixth.

He gave up two walks with six strikeouts.

He picked up his second win which was his first win since April 11 and lowered his ERA to 4.98.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed and continued his dominance with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

Nunez had two strikeouts and no walks or hits and lowered his ERA to 2.04.

RHP Reed Garrett closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 16 at home against the Padres at 1:40 p.m.

Mets Beat Padres 2-1 With Stellar Bullpen

The New York Mets beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 31-37.

The Met offense did not do much other the bottom of the third after 2B Jeff McNeil walked with one out and two batters later, LF Brandon Nimmo singled.

DH J.D. Martinez followed with a two-run double to bring in the only two runs that they would need.

LHP Sean Manaea had four scoreless innings and then gave up a solo homer to CF Jackson Merrill in the top of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, four hits, one run, one walk and seven strikeouts.

He picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 4.11

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with 1.2 scoreless innings.

LHP Jake Diekman came in next and got the last out in the top of the seventh.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley had a 1-2-3 top of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off single to LF Jurickson Profar who then stole second, and then Diaz settled down after that,

Diaz came back to strike out DH Manny Machado, retired 3B Donovan Solano on a ground-out after McNeil made a fine diving spot to get the second out and then Diaz stuck out 2B Jake Croneworth for the last out of the game.

Diaz had much more life on his fastball and improved command on his slider with better downward movement at the bottom of the plate.

He picked up his sixth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, June 15 at home against the Padres at 4:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Marlins 3-2 On Two-Run Walk-off Homer By J.D. Martinez

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 tonight at Citi Field tonight to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 30-37.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first six innings with one hit, and then came alive in the bottom of the seventh.

LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a walk and then DH J.D. Martinez followed with a double.

1B Pete Alonso then walked to load the bases, but RF Starling Marte grounded into a double play which scored Nimmo as the tying run and then 3B Mark Vientos grounded out to third to end the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a walk and then stole second.

Nimmo followed with a strikeout, and then Martinez came up next and delivered a two-run walk-off homer to right center for his sixth homer of the year.

RHP Luis Severino had five scoreless innings, including working out of a based loaded jam in the top of the fourth, but ran into trouble in the top of the sixth.

Severino gave up a solo homer to 3B Jake Burger in the top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, seven hits, one run, three walks and two strikeouts.

RHP Drew Smith followed in the top of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning and picked up his second win.

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 10-4 tonight at Citi Field and improved their record to 29-37.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a double and then CF Harrison Bader followed with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the second, LF Tyrone Taylor led off with a single and 3B Mark Vientos followed by reaching on an error.

Catcher Francisco Alvarez then hit a RBI single and Vientos scored on an error.

Three batters later, D.H. J.D. Martinez drove in 2B Jeff McNeil with a RBI single.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth, RF Starling Marte drove in a run on a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the seventh, 1B Pete Alonso singled with one out and then Marte followed with a walk.

Taylor then singled to load the bases and Vientos drove in a run on a RBI single.

Alvarez followed by driving in a run on a fielder's choice.

In the bottom of the eighth, Lindor led off with a solo homer and then Bader reached on an infield hit.

Three batters later, Marte capped off the scoring with a RBI single.

LHP David Peterson had a decent outing allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings.

He gave up two walks with one strikeout.

Peterson picked up second win of the season.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed with 2.1 dominating scoreless innings.

Nunez had five strikeouts with no hits and no walks.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and got the last two outs in the top of the eighth.

RHP Reed Garrett closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

Mets Lose to Marlins 4-2 With Poor Offense and Defense

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record to 28-37.

RHP Tylor Megill had a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a RBI double to SS Tim Anderson in the top of the second.

Megill had scoreless innings in the top of the third and fourth, but then ran into trouble in the top of the fifth.

Megill gave up a lead-off single to Anderson and two batters later, walked CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Later in the inning, Megill gave up a RBI double to DH Bryan De La Cruz and later in the inning, Chisholm Jr scored on an error by 3B Mark Vientos.

Megill was taken out with two outs in the inning and his final line was 4.2 innings, four hits, three runs (2 earned runs), two walks and eight strikeouts

LHP Danny Young followed and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Drew Smith threw a scoreless top of the eighth,

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the ninth and allowed an unearned run after catcher Francisco Alvares made a throwing error which lead to a run scored on a a sacrifice fly by LF Nick Gordon.

The Met offense did not do much outside of a two-run double by 3B Mark Vientos in the bottom of the second.

They had only four hits for the entire game and went 1-4 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

Mets Rally to Beat Phillies 6-5 And Split London Series

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 this afternoon to split the two-game London Series and improved their record to 28-36.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings against RHP Taijuan Walker, but then came alive in the top of the sixth.

Catcher Luis Torrens singled with one out and then two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso walked.

LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a RBI double and then D.H. J.D. Martinez drove in a two-run single to tie the game.

The offense did not do much for the next three innings and then rallied in the top of the ninth.

CF Tyrone Taylor led off with a walk and then 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a single.

Pinch-hitter Mark Vientos then reached on an infield hit which brought in tying run and Torrens walked to load the bases.

SS Francisco Lindor struck out and then 1B Pete Alonso was hit by a pitch which scored the go-ahead.

Pinch-hitter Julio Iglesias then scored on a passed ball by catcher J.T. Realmuto which brought in a much needed insurance run.

LHP Jose Quintana gave up a run in the bottom of the first after 3B Alec Bohm grounded into a double play

Quintana had scoreless innings in the bottom of the second third and then gave up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI double by SS Eduardo Sosa and a RBI single by LF Whitt Merrifield and was taken out in the middle of the inning.

His final line was 3.2 innings, six hits, three runs, two walks and one strikeout.

LHP Danny Young came in next and got the last out in the bottom of the fifth and the first out in the bottom of the sixth.

RHP Dedneil Nunez followed and gave up a solo homer to pinch-hitter David Dahl in the bottom of the seventh and then came out.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and got the first two outs in the bottom of the seventh and then walked 1B Bryce Harper and was then taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett came in and got the last out in the bottom of the seventh and had a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

Garrett came back out for the bottom of the ninth and got into trouble after he gave up a lead-off single to CF Cristian Pache and two batters later, hit catcher J.T. Realmuto and then was pulled.

Garrett picked up his sixth win of the season.

RF Drew Smith came on and gave up a single to Harper to load the bases and then gave up a bases loaded walk to Bohm.

Smith was then able to get RF Nick Castellanos to ground into a double play after Torrens made an incredible 2-2-3 double play by stepping on home plate on a grounder right in front of the plate for the second out and then threw out Castellanos at first for the last out.

Smith picked up his second save of the season.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Tuesday, June 11 at home against the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Phillies 7-2 After Manaea Struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 this afternoon in Game 1 of the London Series and dropped their record to 27-36.

LHP Sean Manaea cruised through the first three innings, but it then it all unraveled in the top of the fourth.

Manaea gave up a solo homer to 1B Bryce Harper with one out in the top of the fourth and then gave up a single to 3B Alec Bohm and two batters later, walked 2B Bryson Stott.

Manaea then gave up a bloop single to SS Edmundo Sosa that could have been caught by RF Starling Marte and then gave up a three-run homer to LF Whitt Merrifield.

Later in the inning, Manaea gave up a RBI single to DH Kyle Schwarber and was then taken out.

His final line was 3.2 innings, seven hits, six runs, one walk and three strikeouts.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in next and got the last out in the top of the fourth.

RHP Adrian Houser followed with 2.2 scoreless innings.

LHP Danny Young gave up a solo homer to RF Nick Castellanos in the top of the eighth.

RHP Adam Ottavino got the last two outs in the top of the eighth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until catcher Luis Torrens hit a solo homer in the top of the third.

In the top of the fifth, RF Tyrone Taylor tripled with one out and then CF Harrison Bader followed with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the sixth, Torrens led off the inning with another solo homer and then SS Francisco Lindor followed with a solo homer.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a double and then two batters later, DH J.D. Martinez singled.

3B Mark Vientos followed with a RBI single to bring in Alonso and then two batters later, Bader broke the game open with a two-run double.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings wasting a based loading opportunity in the top of the third, but then broke through in the top of the fourth.

RF Starling Marte drew a lead-off walk and two batters later, CF Harrison Bader hit a two-run homer.

In the top of the fifth, 1B Pete Alonso and LF Brandon Nimmo singled to lead off the inning and then two batters later, Marte drove in a two-run triple.

3B Mark Vientos followed with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Reed Garrett came on in the bottom of the ninth and got into trouble giving up two walks and a RBI single, but was able to recover retiring RF Lane Thomas as the tying run at the plate for the final out of the game.

Mets Hang On To Beat Nationals 8-7 Powered By Vientos

The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 8-7 tonight at Nationals Park to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 25-35.

After a scoreless top of the first, RF Starling Marte led off with a single and then stole second.

3B Mark Vientos followed with a walk and then Marte advanced to third on a wild pitch.

CF Harrison Bader then drove in Marte with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the fourth, Vientos led off and continued his torrid stretch with a solo homer and two batters later, 2B Jose Iglesias singled.

Later in the inning, Iglesias stole second and then came around to score on a RBI single by SS Francisco Lindor.

In the top of the fifth, D.H. J.D. Martinez singled with one out and then Marte followed with a single.

Martinez and Marte advanced to second and third with a walk and then Vientos drew a walk to load the bases.

Bader then drove in the tying run with his second sacrifice fly of the night and Iglesias drove in the go-ahead with a RBI single.

Catcher Luis Torrens followed with a key two-run double.

In the top of the sixth, Martinez singled with two outs and then Marte followed with a single and Martinez was able to score after reliever RHP Jacob Barnes threw the ball away trying to throw Marte out at first base.

RHP Tylor Megill had a scoreless bottom of the first, but was let down his defense in the bottom of the second after Bader made a fielding error due to the ball coming out of his glove which allowed 3B Nick Senzel to advance to second.

Megill gave up a RBI single to the following hitter LF Jesse Winker.

Megill had a scoreless bottom of the third, but gave up three more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder's choice and a two-run homer by 1B Joey Gallo.

Megill gave up another run in the bottom of the fifth on a based loaded walk to Winker and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, seven hits, five runs, three walks and four strikeouts.

He picked up his first win.

RHP Adrian Houser followed and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.

Houser came back out for the bottom of the eighth and ran into trouble and was taken out with one out in the inning.

RHP Drew Smith came on and got the last two outs in the eighth.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the bottom of the ninth and got into immediate trouble after he gave up a lead-off walk and hit batsman and after a flyout, gave up a RBI single to Winker.

Ottavino then gave up a single to SS Ildemaro Vargas which loaded the bases and was taken out.

LHP Jake Diekmann came on and gave up a sacrifice fly to pinch-hitter Joey Menesis and struck out the next hitter catcher Drew Millas for the final out and picked up his second save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, June 4 at the Nationals at 6:45 p.m.

Mets Lose to Diamondbacks 5-4 After Bullpen Blows Another Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 this afternoon at Citi Field and dropped their record to 24-35.

LHP Jose Quintana got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a two-run homer to 2B Ketel Marte.

Quintana gave up another homer, this time a solo shot to LF Lourdes Guerriel Jr in the top of the second.

Quintana had scoreless innings in the top of the third and fourth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, four hits, three runs, three walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

LHP Danny Young came in next and got the last two outs in the top of the sixth.

RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

LHP Jake Diekmann came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off double and later in the inning, another two-run homer to Marte.

The Met offense did all their damage in the bottom of the third after 1B Pete Alonso hit a RBI single with two outs and then LF Brandon Nimmo and DH J.D. Martinez followed with RBI triples.

They did not do much the rest of the game and managed only one for the rest of the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, June 3 at the Washington Nationals at 6:45 p.m.

Mets Lose to Diamondbacks 10-5 on Darryl Strawberry Retirement Number Ceremony

The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-5 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 24-34.

LHP Sean Manaea started out well with two scoreless innings, but then gave up a grand slam to 1B Christian Walker in the top of the third.

Manaea had scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth and in the top of the sixth, he gave up a RBI single to 2B Blaze Alexander who then came around to score on a wild pitch.

Manaea was taken out with two out ins the top of the sixth and his final line was 5.2 innings, six hits, six runs, two walks and 10 strikeouts.

LHP Josh Walker followed and gave up two runs in the top of the seventh on a RBI single by RF Randall Grichuk and later in the inning, a sacrifice fly by 3B Eugenio Suarez.

Walker gave up two more runs in the top of the eighth on a two-run single by CF Corbin Carroll.

LHP Danny Young came on in the top of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings until 3B Mark Vientos hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the ninth, catcher Tomas Nido drove in a run with a RBI ground-out and then 2B Jose Iglesias reached on an infield hit which brought home a run.

1B Pete Alonso then hit a two-run homer with two outs, but DH J.D. Martinez flew out to end the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 2 at home against the Diamondbacks at 1:40 p.m.
