Mets Option Khalil Lee, Patrick Mazieka and Sean Reid-Foley To Triple A
The New York Mets announced today that they are optioning OF Khalil Lee, catcher Patrick Mazieka and reliever RHP Sean Reid-Foley to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the 26-man roster for 1B Pete Alonso, OF Kevin Pillar and RHP Seth Lugo who are all returning tonight.
Lee struggled at the plate striking out in 13 out of 18 his plate appearances, but did well definsively and made some nice plays in centerfield.
Mazieka had some clutch at-bats late in game off the bench as a pinch-hitter.
Reid-Foley has done well out of the bullpen with a 1.98 ERA in 13.2 innings. He will most likely be called back up later in the season.

Mets-Braves Game Postponed
Tonight's Mets-Braves game has postponed due to rain.
The game will be made up a date to be announced.
This is the Mets 11th canceled game this year, including Friday's night game against the Braves.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night on the road at the Arizona Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m.

New York Mets outfielder Mason Williams has been promoted from Triple-A Syracuse to Majors.
Williams has been doing well in Syracuse with a .383 average.
He has previously played parts of six Major League seasons with the Yankees, Reds, and Orioles with a .272 average and played recently in the Major Leagues in 2020.

Mets Dominate Braves 13-2 behind five homers

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 13-2 tonight at Citi Field for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 25-20.
The offense got on the board early in the bottom of the first after catcher James McCann hit a solo homer.
In the bottom of the third, McCann doubled and advanced to third on an error by CF former Met Guillermo Heredia and then LF Dom Smith followed with a RBI single.
After a scoreless bottom of the fourth, 3B Jonathan Villar led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer. SS Francisco Lindor followed with a bunt single and McCann then hit a single for his third hit of the night.
Smith then struck out, but catcher Tomas Nido grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run.
In the bottom of the sixth, CF Cameron Maybin hit a dribber down the third base line for his first hit as a Met and then pinch-hitter Brandon Drury hit a two-run homer.
Villar followed with a walk, Lindor reached on an error by Braves 1B Freddie Freeman and McCann hit a RBI single.
Two batters later, Nido hit a RBI single which scored Lindor.
RF Billy McKinney then came up and delivered a three-run homer.
In the bottom of the seventh, Maybin led off with a walk and three batters later, Lindor capped off the scoring with a two-run homer.
RHP Taijuan Walker had another stellar performance with five scoreless innings. Walker gave up two hits and one walk with eight strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 1.84.
RHP Miguel Castro followed in the top of the sixth and gave up a lead-off double to Heredia and later allowed Heredia to come around and score from third on a wild pitch and then got out of the inning with one run allowed.
RHP Sein Reid-Foley came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh, but gave up a run in the top of the eighth on a RBI single by 2B Ozzie Albies. Reid-Foley struggled with his command allowing two hits and three walks in two innings.
RHP Jacob Barnes closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Braves on Sunday Night on ESPN at 7:00 p.m.

Mets Beat Rockies 4-2 to sweep doubleheader due to clutch hitting from Jose Peraza
The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 this afternoon to sweep their doubleheader at Citi Field and take three out of four games in the series and improved their record to 24-20.
The offense got on the early in the bottom of the first after 3B Jonathan Villar led off a walk and SS Francisco Lindor broke out his 0-24 slump with a single which moved Villar to third.
RF Billy McKinney then grounded into a double play which scored Villar.
The offense went scoreless for the next two innings until the bottom of the fourth when McKinney doubled with one out and then LF Dom Smith was by a pitch to McKinney to third and catcher James McCannw walked to load the bases.
1B Patrick Mazeika struck out, but 2B Jose Pereza came through with a RBI single.
In the bottom of thw sixth, McKinney led off with a walk and then LF Dom Smith popped out, but McCann singled which moved McKinney to third.
Mazieka was hit by a pitch in the foot which loaded the bases, and then Peraza drew a based loaded walk.
CF Cameron Maybin then grounded into a fielder's choice, but pinch-hitter Brandon Drury drew a based loaded walk which brought in another run.
LHP Joey Luchessi had a difficult top of the first inning with 30 pitches, but didn't give up any runs and was helped out by his defense after McKinney made a stellar catch to end the inning.
Lucchesi settled down with a 1-2-3 top of the second inning as well as a 1-2-3 top of the third inning.
He ran into trouble in the top of the fourth after he gave up a lead-off walk to 3B Ryan McMahon and then later in the inning a single to 1B C.J. Croin.
Luchessi then gave up a wild pitch which allowed Croin to advance to second and then walked RF Yonathan Diaz and was then taken out.
His final line was 3.2 innings, one run, three walks and two strikeouts.
RHP Drew Smith came on and gave up a RBI single to LF Connor Joe which tied the game, but then got catcher Elias Diaz to fly out on a sliding catch by McKinney to end the inning.
LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless top of the fifth inning and picked up his second win of the year.
RHP Jeurys Familia then threw a scoreless top of the sixth inning.
RHP Robert Gsellman came on in the top of the seventh and retired Diaz for the first out, but then gave up a hit-by-pitch to Charlie Blackmon and struck out 2B Garrett Hampson for the second out, but then Blackmon stole second and Gsellman gave up a RBI double to RF Raimel Tapia and was then taken out.
RHP Jacob Barnes had to come in and retired McMahon on a fly out to end the inning and picked up his second save of the season.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Rockies 1-0 Behind a Dominating Performance by Marcus Stroman
The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 1-0 this afternoon at home in the first game of their doubeleheader in a seven inning game and improved their record to 23-20.
The offense didn't do much expect for 2B Jose Peraza who hit a solo homer in the bottom of the second inning.
RHP Marcus Stroman had an outstanding start throwing six scoreless innings.
Stroman gave up two walks and had three strikeouts.
He was in command all afternoon with his fastball, slider and change-up.
He picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 2.47.
RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a scoreless top of the seventh inning and picked up his ninth save.
The Mets next game against the Rockies is a 1/2 hour after the first game.

Tonight's Mets-Rockies game was postponed due to incliment weather.
It will made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 12:10 p.m.
The second game will start about 30 minutes after the first game.

Mets Acquire Billy McKinney From Brewers
The New York Mets acquired outfielder and first baseman Billy McKinney from the Milwaukee Brewers for minor league left-handed pitcher Pedro Quintana.
The Brewers desiginated McKinney for assignment.
McKinney hit .207 with three homers, six rbis and nine runs scored in 40 games for the Brewers.
He hit .215 for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019.
McKinney was a former firs-round pick and top 100 prospect so he has potential and upside.
He will hopefully fill a void in a much depleted outfieder after Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, Kevin Pillar, and Johneshwy Fargas have all gotten hurt.

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 3-1 tonight at home to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 22-20.
The offense got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning after 3B Jonthan Villar reached on an infield single, SS Francisco Lindor followed with a walk. RF Brnadon Drury struck out, but Villar and Lindor pulled off a double steal to advance to second and third.
1B James McCann followed with a RBI ground-out.
In the bottom of the sixth, LF Dominic Smith reached on an infield single and catcher Tomas Nido continued his torrid hitting as of late with a go-ahead two-run homer.
RHP Jacob deGrom made his first start coming off the injured list with right side tighness and did a fine job allowing one run on three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts on 63 pitches in five innings.
The only run deGrom allowed was a solo homer to 3B Ryan McMahon in the top of the second inning.
His fastball had a lot of life and velocity topping out at 101.3 mph and he showed off his sharp slider as well.
deGrom was back to his old self and didn't show any rust coming off an injury.
RHP Miguel Castro followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh innings. Castro gave up one walk and had four strikeouts.
He picked up his first win.
RHP Trevor May threw a scorleess top of the eighth inning.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on and closed it out with a scorless top of the ninth inning with three strikeouts and worked around a walk to pick up his eighth save.

New York Mets RHP Jordan Yamamoto has been placed on the injured list with shoulder soreness.
Yamamato came out in the bottom of the fifth inning on Sunday at the Florida Marlins with 73 pitches.
RHP Jacob deGrom was actvated from the injured list to make a start in tonight's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Mets Lose to Rockies 3-2 After Offense Comes Up Short in Bottom of Ninth

The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 3-2 tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 21-20.
LHP David Peterson started out well with a scoreless top of the first inning, but gave up solo homers to 2B Ryan McMahon and catcher Elias Diaz in the top of the second.
Peterson settled down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings and was taken out after the top of the sixth.
His final line was six innings, three runs, three walks and five strikeouts.
RHP Jacob Barnes followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth innings.
RHP Yennsy Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The offense was shut down by Rockies staretr RHP Austin Gomber for the first six innings until the bottom of the seventh after catcher James McCann hit a solo homer.
In the bottom of the ninth, infielder Brandon Drury led off the inning and pinch-hit for CF Khalil Lee and hit a solo homer.
Pinch-hitter Patrick Mazieka followed with a single, but then 3B Jonathan Villar struck out, SS Francisco Lindor flew out and after Mazieka advanced to second on a wild pitch, McCann struck out to end the game.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Rockies at 7:10 p.m.
Johneshwy Fargas Leaves Game After Colliding Into Wall

New York Mets CF Johneshwy Fargas left tonight's game at home against the Colorado Rockies after he collided in the wall in the top of the fourth inning.
Fargas stayed in the game at first, but came out before the next inning and was replaced by Khalil Lee.
The Mets say he left with a left ac joint sprain.
Fargas has done well since he called up with a .810 OPS.
He joins outfielders Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, Albert Almora and Kevin Pillar on the injured list.

Mets Lost to Marlins 5-1 After Jordan Yamamoto Struggles In Second Inning

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 5-1 this afternoon to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 21-19.
RHP Jordan Yamamoto had a scoreless bottom of the first inning, but it all fell apart for him in the bottom of the second inning and he gave up a single, walk and hit-by pitch to load the bases.
Yamamoto struck out CF Magneuris Sierra, but then gave up a high chopper to Marlins starter RHP Cody Poteet toward the third base line and Yamamoto threw the ball home, but the throw went wide and the run scored.
He then gave up a RBI single to 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr and then got SS Miguel Rojas to ground out in what should bave been a double player, but SS Francisco Lindor made a throwing error which allowed two runs to score.
Yamamoto then gave up a RBI single to 1B Jesus Aguilar before finally getting out of the inning.
Yamamato settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth and was taken out after the inning with shoulder soreness.
His final line was four innings, six hits, five runs (four earned), two walks and two strikeouts.
RHP Robert Gsellman followed with three scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings with two strikeouts and one hit.
RHP Yennsy Diaz then came in the bottom of the eighth in his Met debut and threw a scoreless inning.
Thw offense did nothing against Marlins starter RHP Cody Poteet in seventh inning and had only three hits.
In the top of the eighth, CF Johneshwy Fargas led off with a double and 2B Wilfredo Tovar hit a RBI single with two outs.
The Mets next game is back home tomorrow night against the Colorado Rockies at 7:10.

Mets Lost to Marlins 3-1 on a walk-off homer by Garrett Cooper

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 3-1 in Miami this afternoon and dropped their record to 21-18.
The offense wasted a great scoring opportunity in the top of the first inning after 2B Wilfredo Tovar struck out with the based loaded with two outs.
CF Johneshwy Fargas doubled with two outs in the top of the fourth, but RF Khalil Lee grounded out to end the inning.
In the top of the eighth, pinch-hitter Jose Peraza and SS Francisco Lindor walked and after LF Cameron Maybin struck out, 1B Dom Smith came through with a RBI single.
Tovar led off the top of the ninth with a walk, but was not able to get off first after Fargas struck out, Lee flied out and pinch-hitter James McCann flew out to center to end the inning.
LHP Joey Luchessi had the best start of his Met career with four scoreless innings. Luchessi had two strikeouts in the bottom of the first and struck out the side in the bottom of the second.
Luchessi got Marlins starter RHP Pablo Lopez to ground into a 1-6-3 double play in the bottom of the third and had two more strikeouts in the bottom of the fourth and was taken out after the inning with 43 pitches.
His final line was 4 innings, one hit, 0 walks and 8 strikeouts.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in next and worked out of a based loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth with two strikeouts and had a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth.
Reid-Foley stayed in for the bottom of the seventh and gave up a couple of baserunners and was taken out with runners on first and third and one out.
LHP Aaron Loup came in next and got pinch-hitter Corey Dickerson to fly out to Maybin and Maybin had a strong throw home, but catcher Tomas Nido dropped the ball which allowed RF Garrett Cooper to score.
RHP Miguel Castro threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.
RHP Drew Smith got the first two outs of the bottom of the ninth inning, but then gave up a single to 3B Brian Anderson and then a two-run walk-off homer to Cooper.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Marlins at 1:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Marlins 6-5 in 12 innings behind clutch hits by Khalil Lee and Johneshy Fargas

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 6-5 tonight in Miami in 12 innings and improved their record to 21-17.
The offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning after 3B Jonathan Villar led off with a walk and stole second and then SS Francisco Lindor followed with a RBI double.
RF Cameron Maybin and LF Dom Smith flew out and then Lindor tried to advance to third base and was able to score after Marlins centerfielder Magnerius Sierra threw past third baseman Brian Anderson.
In the top of the fourth, Smith walked with one out and then catcher Tomas Nido continued his hot hiting as of late with a RBI double.
The bats went quiet after that and wasted several scoring opporunities in the top of the tenth and eleventh innings, but finally broke through in the top of the 12th.
Pinch-hitter Jake Hager led off with a single which advanced Smith to third.
Pinch-hitter Khahil Lee then came up to the plate and broke out of his 0-8 slump with 8 strikeouts to begin his ML career with a RBI double.
Pinch-hitter Johneshy Fargas followed with a two-run triple to break the game open and he tried to stretch the triple into an inside the park home, but was thrown out at the plate.
RHP Marcus Stroman had a terrific start allowing one two runs on six hits in six innings. He gave up one walk and had strikeouts.
Stroman came back out for the bottom of the seventh in hopes of going one more innign, but he was taken out after he gave up a lead-off walk to 3B Brian Anderson.
RHP Miguel Castro came in next and immediately gave up a two-run homer to 1B Garrett Cooper
Castro was able to recover and strike out his next three hitters.
RHP Trevor May followed and worked out of a based loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth by striking out Cooper with two outs to end the inning, but it wound up costing him 32 pitches.
RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scorleess bottom of the ninth inning.
RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless bottom of the tenth inning.
RHP Drew Smith threw a scoreless bottom of the eleventh inning and picked up his first win.
LHP Aaron Loup came on in the bottom of the 12th and gave up two runs, but was able to induce a ground-ball which resulted in a double play.
RHP Jacob Barnes had to come in to get the last out of the game and pick up his first save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Marlins at 4:00 p.m.

Mets Lose to Braves 5-4 on walk-off in bottom of ninth

The New York Mets lost to to the Atlanta Braves 5-4 to drop their record to 20-17, but still maanged to take two out of three games in the series.
The offense was held scorless for the first three innings against Braves starter RHP Charlie Morton, but in the top of the fourth, 3B Jonathan Villar homered to lead off the inning.
The bats went quiet for the next few innings until the top of the seventh after 1B Dominic Smith reached on a throwing error by Braves reliever LHP AJ Minter with two outs and advanced to second.
Catcher James McCann followed with a walk and then 2B Jose Peraza came through with a RBI double.
Pinch-hitter Tomas Nido then delivered a two-run single which scored McCann and Peraza.
In the top of the ninth inning, CF Cameron Maybin reached first on a wild pitch, stole second and then advanced to third on another wild pitch with one out.
McCann gave up with an opportunity for a go-ahead hit, but popped out to third and then Peraza lined out to third to end the inning.
LHP David Peterson started out well and cruised through the first four innings with five strikeouts, but it all unraveled for him in the bottom of the fifth.
Peterson gave up a one-out double to 3B Austin Riley and got SS Dansby Swanson to ground out for the second inning, but he was not able to get out of the inning after he hit catcher William Contreras, and then allowed an RBI single to CF Guillermo Heredia and then gave up another RBI single to Morton.
Peterson then gave up a based loaded walk to CF Ronald Acuna Jr on a wild pitch which scored Heredia and moved Morton to second.
Peterson next gave up a single to 1B Freddie Freeman and was taken out of the game.
His final line was 4.2 innings, five hits, three runs, one walk and five strikeouts.
RHP Drew Smith came in and induced a ground-ball to LF Marcell Ozuna to end the inning.
Smith stayed in for the bottom of the sixth and worked around a based loaded jam after he got pinch-hitter Pablo Sandoval on a line-out to end the inning.
RHP Miguel Castro followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning.
LHP Aaron Loup came on in the bottom of the eighth and wasn't able to have nay command after he gabe up a double to Riley and then a single to Swanson and a game-tying RBI single to Contreras.
RHP Jacob Barnes came in next and struck out Heredia and then McCann threw out Swanson trying to steal third and struck out pinch-hitter Ehire Adrianza to end the inning.
Barnes stayed in for the bottom of the ninth and gave up a walk-off homer to Acuna Jr on the first pitch he threw.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Friday, May 22th at the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Taijuan Walker Goes on IL
New York Mets RHP Tijaun Walker was placed on the injured list this afternoon with left side tightness. He is one of 14 Met players on the IL.
Walker came out after his last start after he pitched only three innings due to the left side tightness and he sad it had been bothering him in his last few starts.
Now that he is on Il, a starter from the minor leagues will have to be called up to replace him.
Fortunately, RHP Jacob deGrom is set to make a rehab start with St. Lucie at Single-A on Thursday and return to the big league club soon.

Mets Beat Braves 4-3 After Tomas Nido Delivers Clutch Homer in Ninth

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves tonight in Atlanta for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 20-16.
The offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the top of the third inning after reliever RHP Tommy Hunter singled with one out and two batters later 3B Jonathan Villar hit a two-run homer.
It was the first hit of Hunter's 14-year career and his fifth plate appearance.
The bats went quiet for the next few innings until the top of the sixth after SS Francisco Lindor led off the inning with a ground-out double, 1B Dominic Smith followed by reaching on an infield single and then 1B Pete Alonso hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Lindor.
In the top of the ninth inning with two outs, catcher Tomas Nido came though with one of the biggest hits of this young season with a solo homer, his second of the season.
Reliever RHP Miguel Castro got the start as an "opener" in the bottom of the first and threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout.
RHP Tommy Hunter followed with two scorless innings in the bottom of the second and third innings which included four strikeouts and one walk.
It was Hunter's fourth scoreless appearance of two innings so far this year.
RHP Robert Gsellman came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the fourth, but stayed in for the bottom of the fifth inning and gave up a solo homer to 3B Austin Riley.
RHP Trevor May gave up a solo homer to 1B Freddie Freeman in the bottom of sixth.
LHP Aaron Loup then threw a scorless bottom of the seventh, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the eighth.
Loup gave up a lead-off double to pinch-hitter Ehire Adrianza and was then taken out for RHP Jeurys Familia.
Familia walked RF Ronald Acuna Jr and was able to get Freeman to ground into a double play. He wasn't able to get out of the inning cleanly after he gave up a broken bat jam shot bloop single to right field to LF Marcel Ozuna which tied the game. Familia was able to recover and struck out 2B Ozzie Albies to end the inning and keep the game tied.
Familia picked up his second win.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and closed it out with a dominating 1-2-3 inning and two strikeouts and picked up his seventh save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Braves at 7:20 p.m.

Mets Call Up Wilfredo Tofar To Replace Kevin Pillar

The New York Mets called up utility man Wilfredo Tovar from Triple-A Syracuse to replace outfielder Kevin Pillar who went on the injured list after he was hit by a pitch in the face in last night's game at the Braves.
Tovar was signed by the Mets in 2017 and made his debut with them in 2013 and then was signed to some minor league deals and last played for the Los Angeles Angels in 2019.
He is primarily a middle infielder, but can also play the corner infield and outfield.
Tovar has hit .200 for Triple-A Syracuse with seven RBI's in 10 games.
He will most likely be an extra bat off the bench late in games.
Mets Acquire Outfielder Cameron Maybin from Cubs for Cash Considerations
The New York Mets acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Chicago Cubs tonight for cash considerations.
Maybin hit .103 at Triple-A in the 2021 season, but hit .247 between the Cubs and Detriot Tigers last season.
He had previously played for the Tigers, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians, and New York Yankees in his 14-year Major League career.
Maybin will provide some depth to the outfield and a veteran presence off the bench.
The Mets announced he has been assigned to Triple-A Syracuse for now, but he will get called up to the Majors soon.

Mets Beat Braves 3-1 behind strong effort from bullpen, Tomas Nido and James McCann

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 tonight at Truist Park in Atlanta to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 19-16.
The offense was held scoreless for the first six innings against Braves LHP Max Fried and was playing shorthanded after 2B Jeff McNeil and RF Michael Conforto were placed on the injured list today with hamstring injuries.
Catcher Tomas Nido led off the top of the seventh with a double and pinch-hitter James McCann broke out of his slump with a RBI double.
CF Johneshwy Fargas followed with a sacrifice bunt in his MLB debut after he was called up from Triple-A today which moved McCann moved over to third.
SS Francisco Lindor then drew a walk and LF Dominic Smith was walked intentionally walked to load the bases for CF Kevin Pillar.
Pillar was unfortunately hit by a pitch in the face and was down on the field, but luckily was able to walk off the field on his own.
In the top of the eighth, Nido singled with one out for his third hit of the game and two batters later Fargo drove in Nido with an RBI double to right field.
RHP Taijuan Walker cruised through the first three innings allowing one hit.
Walker had to come out after the bottom of the third since he was dealing with left side tightness.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed and had an excellent outing with threee scoreless innings.
Reid-Foley struck out five and gave up no hits and walks and picked up his first win.
RHP Jeurys Familia came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning.
RHP Trevor May wasn't as sharp in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to 3B Austin Riley, but was able to get out of the inning allowing just the only run.

Kevin Pillar Leaves Game After Getting Hit By Pitch To Face

New York Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar left tonight's game at the Atlanta Braves after he was hit by a pitch to the face in the top of the seventh inning.
Pillar fell to the ground and was down for a moment with a lot of blood going down his face.
He was able to get back on his feet quickly and walked off the field with head athletic trainer Brian Chicklo.
Taijuan Walker Leaves Start With Left Side Tightness
New York Mets RHP Tijuan Walker left tonight's start at the Atlanta Braves with left side tightness.
Walker threw three scoreless innings, but was not able to swing the batand his velocity decreased in the bottom of the third.
He looked uncomfortable on the mound in the bottom of the third, but he was able to finish the inning.
Walker is the third Met in the last two games to get injured after RF Michael Conforto and 2B Jeff McNeil came out of Sunday's game with hamstring tightness.

Mets Lose to Rays 7-1 to get swept in three-games series and lose more players to injuries

The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-1 this afternoon to get swept in their three-game series and dropped their record to 18-16.
RHP Marcus Stroman started out well with three scorleess innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth after he gave up a single to 1B Ji-Man Choi and then a two-run homer to Met killer RF Manuel Margot.
Stroman's struggles continued in the bottom of the fifth after he hit catcher Francisco Meija to start the inning and then a two-run homer to SS Willy Adames.
Stroman gave up a solo homer to 2B Brandon Lowe in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was six innings, six hits, five runs, one walk and one strikeouts.
He gave up three homers, which ties his career-high for most homers allowed in one game.
RHP Robert Gsellman followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning.
RHP Edwin Diaz came in next in the bottom of the eighth and gave up two runs on three hits.
The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until the top of the sixth when DH Patrick Mazieka hit his first career homer.and they didn't have any more hits the rest of the game.

DH Jeff McNeil and RF Michael Conforto both left the game with hamstring tightness.
McNeil singled to lead off the top of the first and later left with hamstring tightness after he was still dealing with an injury from the last series against the Orioles.
Conforto grounded into a double play in the top of the first and grabbed his hamstring and left the game.
McNeil was diagnosed with left hamstirng tightness and Conforto was diagnosed with right hamstring tightness.

Mets Lose to Rays 12-5 due to bullpen struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 12-5 this afternoon at Tropicana Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record 18-15.
Reliever RHP Drew Smith started the game as an "opener" and did a nice job one unearned run in two innings on two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
LHP Joey Luchessi followed with a scoreless bottom of the third, but it all fell apart for him in the bottom of the fourth.
Luchessi gave up a lead-off walk to 1B Yandy Diaz and then a double to 3B Joey Wendle.
Luchessi's struggles continued after he gave up an infield hit to RF Manuel Margot and then a two-run double to SS Willy Adames.
He was able to settle down and retired catcher Mike Zuzino on a foul out to first and then struck out CF Brandon Phillips and was thane taken out.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley came in and gave up a pinch-hit double to Austin Meadows and a RBI single to the following hitter DH Randy Arozarena.
Reid Foley didn't gave up any more in the inning and stayed in for the bottom of the fifth and threw a scoreless inning.
RHP Tommy Hunter followed and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings.
RHP Jacob Barnes came on in the bottom of the eighth and gave up back-to-back singles to Meadows and Arozarena and then walked LF Brandon Lowe which loaded the bases and was then taken out.

The offense broke through in the top of the second after LF Dom Smith led off with a single, catcher James McCann followed with an infield hit and two batters later, 2B Jose Pereza came through with a three-run homer.
1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the top of the third inning in front of his family and friends in his hometown for his sixth homer of the year and first homer in his last 15 games which was the longest stretch without hitting a homer in his career.
SS Francisco Lindor added a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning.

Mets Lose to Rays 3-2 Due To Lack of Offense and waste a terrific start by David Peterson

The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bay Rays tonight in Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field to snap their seven-game winning streak and dropped their record to 18-14.
The offense was held scorelss for the first four innings against Rays ace RHP Tyler Glasnow until the top of the fifth when CF Kevin Pillar singled with two outs and 3B Jonathan Villar followed with a two-run homer.
The bats went quiet until the top of the eighth when 2B Jeff McNeil doubled with one out, but SS Francisco Lindor struck out and RF Michael Conforto grounded out to end the inning.
In the top of the ninth, Pillar singled with two outs and Villar reached on a fielder's choice, but catcher James McCann grounded out to end the inning.
The offense had only five hits all night and was 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
LHP David Peterson worked out around a one-out single by RF Manuel Margot in the bottom of the first and got out of more troubek in the bottom of th second inning after he gave up a double to 1B Yandy Diaz and then walked SS Willy Adames and catcher Mike Zunino to load the bases with one out.
Peterson was able to recover and struck out 3B Kevin Padlo and CF Brett Phillips to end the inning.
Peterson settled downn after that and went into a groove and at one point retired 17 hitters in a row and looked dominant with pinpoint command of his fastball and slider.
However, in the bottom of the eighth it all fell apart for him after he gave up a lead-off homer to Zunino and then a double to Padlo.
Peterson came back to strike out Phillips and was then taken out.
RHP Trevor May came on and got SS Randy Azorerna to line out, but then gave up a RBI double to Manuel Margot to tie the game, but was able to strike out DH Austin Meadows to end the inning.
Peterson's final line was 7.1 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 9 strikeouts.
RHP Miguel Castro followed in the bottom of the ninth to replace May and got 1B Yandy Diaz to fly out to right to lead off the inning, but then Castro walked pinch-hitter Brandon Lowe and then gave up a single to SS Willy Adames which advanced Lowe to third.
Castro then walked Zunino to load the bases with one out and was taken out for LHP Aaron Loup.
Loup struck out pinch-hitter Joey Wendle for the second out, but was not able to get out of the inning after he gave up a walk-off single to CF Brett Phillips.

Mets Beat Orioles 7-1 due to stellar performances from bench and another start from Taijuan Walker

The New York Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 this at Citi Field this afternoon to sweep the two-game series for their seventh consecutive win and improved their record to 18-13.
The offense got on the board early in the bottom of the second inning due to four consecutive hits after 1B Pete Alonso led off with a double, LF Dom Smith singld, CF Kevin Pillar hit a two-run triple and 2B Jose Pereza hit a RBI single against Orioles starter former Met RHP Matt Harvey.
It was Harvey's first outing at Citi Field since he traded by the Mets to the Cicinatti Reds in 2018 and was greeted with a warm reception by the fans when he took the mound in the bottom of the first and at his first at-bat.
In the bott of the third, SS Franciso Lindor singled with two outs, stole second and then Smith drove in Lindor with a RBI single.
3B Jonathan Villar singled and stole second to lead off the bottom of the fifth and advanced to third base after he tagged up on a fly ball to the warning track by Lindor.
RF Muchael Conforto followed with a RBI single to bring in Villar.
1B Pete Alonso then walked which was Harvey's last batter of the game and then Smith drove in another run on an RBI double against Orioles reliever RHP Shawn Armstrong and then 2B Jose Pereza drove in a run on an infield single which was the final run of the game.
RHP Taijuan Walker worked out around a two-run double by 1B Trey Mancini in the top of the first for a scoreless inning.
Walker had some trouble with his command in the top of the second after he gave up back-to-back walks with one out, but retired catcher Chance Sisco and struck out Harvey to end the inning.
Walker was helped out by his defense in the top of the third after Conforto made an amazing catcher to rob RF Austin Hays of an extra base hit and struck out Mancini to end the third for his first 1-2-3 inning.
His success continued with 1-2-3 innings in the top of the fourth and fifth innings and at point retied 11 Orioles hitters in a row.
Walker's streak ended after gave up a lead-off walk to CF Cedric Mullins in the top of the sixth and a single to Mancini, but
was able to get out of the inning after he got LF Ryan Mountcastle to ground into a double play to end the inning.
Walker gave up a lead-off walk to SS Freddy Galvis to start off the top of the seventh and two batters a single to 2B Rio Ruiz which advanced Galvis to third.
He gave up his only run of the game after Sisco hit a soft ground-ball to Alonso and then retired pinch-hitter DJ Stewart on a pop-out to end the inning and was then taken out.
Walker's final line was 7 innings, one run on four hits, three walks and four strikeouts. His fastball was topping out at 94-95 mph with his sharp slider and change-up. He had command of all his pitches. He picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 2.20.
RHP Robert Gsellman followed in the top of the eighth and worked out of a based loaded jam with some help from his defense from 3B Jonathan Villar and Peraza and didn't allow any runs in the inning.
RHP Drew Smith came on in the top of the ninth for his first appearance of the year and closed it out with a 1-2-3 inning.

Albert Almora Goes on IL and Khalil Lee Called Up

The New York Mets placed outfielder Albert Almora Jr on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder bruise after he crashed into the centerfield wall last night trying to make an incredible play.
Outfield prospect Khalil Lee has been called up as corresponding roster move.
Lee is the Mets No 7 propect who is known for his speed and started this season at Triple-A Syracuse and hit 4-16 with five walks, a double, three runs, two RBI's and one stolen base.

Mets Rally To Beat Orioles In Bottom of Ninth on a walk-off by Patrick Mazieka

The New York Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 tonight for their sixth consecutive win and improved their record to 17-13.
RHP Marcus Stroman had another terrific outing and had six scorless inning, but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh.
Stroman gave up back-to-back singles and a sacirifice bunt and then intentionally walked catcher Pedro Severino and was taken out with the based loaded and one out.
LHP Aaron Loup came in and gave up a sacrifice fly to pinch-hitter Pat Valiaka and the run was charged to Stroman. Loup was able to get out of the inning without allowing anu more runs.
RHP Trevor May followed in the top of the eighth and gave up a lead-off triple after CF Albert Almora Jr crashed into the center field fence and was taken out of the game.
May was able to settle down with back-to-back strikeouts, but then gave up a bunt single to SS Freddy Galvis which brought home another run before finishing the inning.
RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning and picked up his first win.
The offense was held scoreless for the first seven innings due to stellar pitching by Orioles starter LHP John Means and reliever RHP Adam Plunko.
In the bottom of the eigth inning, catcher Tomas Nido and SS Francisco Lindor walked and RF Michael Conforto drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, CF Kevin Pillar led off and almsot tied the game after the home plate umpire ruled it a solo homer but was later ruled foul. However, he was able to recover and hit a single.
3B Jonathan Villar followed with a single to move Pillar to third and pinch-hitter Dom Smith hit a RBI single to tie the game.
Two batters later, Patrick Mazieka grounded into a fielder's choice for the winning run, which is the second time Mazieka has done that this season.
The Mets next game is tomorrow aftenoon at home against the Orioles at 12:10 p.m.

Jacob deGrom Goes On 10-Day Injured List

The New York Mets announced today that RHP Jacob deGrom has been played on the 10-day injured list with right side tightness.
deGrom was moved to the IL retroactive to May 10th.
He was able to make his start yesterday against the Diamondbacks and started out well with four scoreless innings, but struggled in the top of the fifth inning where he showed that he was dealing with discomfort on the mound.
DeGrom was able to get out of a bases loaded jam allowing one run to keep the lead.
He came back out for the top of the sixth and threw two warmup pitches, but then called Mets trainer Brian Chicklo out onto the field and deGrom was then taken out of the game and went for an MRI.
Fortunately his MRI came back clean and revealed no structural damage.
DeGrom could return from the IL on May 21st against the Marlins.
The Mets play eight games from now until May 21st so deGrom should only miss only one start if all goes well.

Mets Beat Diamondbacks 4-2 to sweep series after bullpen continues to shine

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 this afternoon to sweep three-game series for their fifth consecutive win and improved their record 16-13.
The offense was scoreless for the first two innings until the bottom of the third inning after catcher James McCann led off with a single and RHP Jacob deGrom followed with a perfectly executed bunt single which allowed McCann to advance to third.
2B Jeff McNeil then hit a slow grounder back to Diamondbacks starter RHP Riley Smith and DeGrom moved up to second.
SS Francisco Lindor then drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly scoring McCann and then RF Michael Conforto followed with a RBI single.
In the bottom of the sixth, 1B Pete Alonso led off with a walk, LF Dom Smith followed with a hit by a pitch and then 3B Jonathan Villar walked to load the bases with one out.
McCann struck out, but pinch-hitter Patrick Mazieka walked which brought in Alonso.
In the bottom of the seventh, Lindor reached on an error by Diamondbacks third baseman Asdrubal Cabrera and then Conforto singled and Smith hit a RBI single which scored Lindor.
RHP Jacob deGrom cruised through the first four innings retiring the first 12 hitters he faced, but ran into trouble in the top of the fifth.
DeGrom walked LF David Peralta to lead off the fifth, gave up a double to catcher Stephen Vogt and walked 3B Eduardo Escobar to load the bases.
DeGrom was able to recover and SS Nick Ahmed to ground into a double play which brought home only run, but then walked CF Daulton Varsho and then struck out pinch-hitter Christian Walker to end the inning.
He came out for the top of the sixth inning and after two warm-up pitches he met with manager Luis Rojas, pitching coach Jeremy Hefner and trainer Brian Chicklo and was then taken out of the game. His final line was 5 innings, one hit, one run, three walks and six strikeouts. He picked up his third win.
Rojas said after the game that deGrom has tightness in his lower back rather than the lat injury he previously had and will sent for an MRI.
RHP Miguel Castro had to come in and got into trouble after he hit 1B Pavin Smith and then walked RF Josh Rojas, but was able to recover after he retired the next three hitters on fly outs.
RHP Jacob Barnes followed with a 1-2-3 top of the seventh.
Barnes stayed in for the top of the eighth and gave up a lead-off solo homer to Cabrera and after retiring Smith on a fly-out after 16 pitches, he gave up a double to Josh Rojas and was then taken out.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on and hit 2B Josh VanMeter, but then LF David Peralta to ground into a double play which ended the inning.
Diaz stayed in for the top of the ninth and had two straight strikeouts, and then SS Nick Amed reached base after a pop-up fell between Villar, Diaz and McCann.
Diaz was able to strike out Varsho to end the inning and picked up his fifth save.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, May 11th at home against the Baltimore Orioles at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Diamondbacks 4-2 due to strong performances by bullpen

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 tonight for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 15-13.
The offense got off to a slow start for the first two innings until the bottom of the third after LHP Joey Lucchesi led off with a walk and then 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a two-run homer.
SS Francisco Lindor then walked and two batters later, Lindor stole second and then scored on a throwing error by Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly.
In the bottom of the seventh, pinch-hitter Jose Peraza led off with a walk and then McNeil grounded into a fielder's choice and later stole second.
Lindor followed with a RBI single.
RHP Tommy Hunter got the start tonight out of the bullpen as an "opener" and did a fine job throwing two scoreless innings with no hits or walks and one strikeout.
LHP Joey Lucchesi followed and allowed one run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Lucchesi picked up his first win.
RHP Jeurys Familia then threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings with three hits and two strikeouts and worked out of a based loaded jam in the top of the seventh. Familia lowered his ERA to 0.93.
LHP Aaron Loup gave up a run on a RBI single by pinch-hitter Stephen Vought in the top of the eighth inning, but was able to get out of the inning withh a one-run lead.
RHP Trevor May came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a hit, but was still able to throw a scorless inning and picked up his first save of the year.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Diamondbacks at 1:10 p.m.

Mets Rally to Beat Diamondbacks 5-4 due to clutch hitting by Francisco Lindor and Patrick Mazieka

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 in 10 innings tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 14-13.
LHP David Peterson started out well with a scoreless top of the first inning, but he ran into trouble in the top of the second inning with two outs after he gave up a single to LF Josh Rojas, walked Diamondbacks starter RHP Zac Gallen, and then hit CF Tim Locastro with the based loaded to bring in RF Pavin Smith for the first run.
Peterson's struggles continued after he walked catcher Carson Kelly and 1B Christian Walker which brought in two more runs and was then taken out.
His final line was three runs, three hits, three walks, and three strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
RHP Robert Gsellman had to come in and retired 3B Eduardo Escobar on a pop-out to end the inning.
Gsellman did a fine job of keeping the team in the game allowing one run on three hits with one walk in 2 1/3 innings and was taken out after the top of the fourth inning.
RHP Tommy Hunter followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth innings.
RHP Jacob Barnes came in next and threw a scorless top of the seventh inning with two strikeouts.
RHP Miguel Castro threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning.
RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
LHP Aaron Loup threw a scoreless top of the tenth inning and picked up his first win.
The bullpen combined to allow only one run in 8 1/3 innings.
The offesne was held scoreless for the first two innings until the bottom of the third after SS Francisco Lindor singled with two outs and advanced to second after a throwing error by Diamondbacks third baseman former Met Asdrubal Cabrera.
RF Michael Conforto followed with a RBI single.
The bats went quiet until the bottom of the sixth after 1B Pete Alonso led off with a walka and then two batters later, 3B Jonathan Villar came through with an RBI single.
In the bottom of the seventh, catcher Tomas Nido lead-off with a walk and after 2B Jeff McNeil lined out, SS Francisco Lindor came up and delivered the biggest hit of his young Met career with a two-run homer to tie the game.
The offense didn't do much after that until the bottom of the tenth.
Alonso started on second base to start the inning due to the new MLB extra innings rule and then LF Dominic Smith was walked intentioally walked by Diamondbacks reliever RHP Stefan Crichton.
RF Kevin Pillar flew out which moved Alonso to third base and then Crichton walked Villar to load the bases.
Catcher Patrick Mazieka came up as a pinch-hitter and hit a slow roller back to Crichton, who tried to throw the ball home, but the throw went wild off catcher Carson Kelly's glove which helped Alonso score the winning run.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Cardinals 7-2 to split doubleheader behind strong performances by the bench

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 to split their doubleheader and improved their record to 12-13.
After a scoreless top of the first inning, LF Dominic Smith singled and CF Kevin Pillar doubled and then a run came home after Cardinals starter RHP Johan Oviedo threw a wild pitch which allowed the run to score with catcher Tomas Nido at the plate.
Nido then came through with a two-run homer to increse the lead to 3-0.
SS Jonathan Villar hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth inning, 2B Jeff McNeil singled and two batters later RF Michael Conforto walked to start the inning. Two batters later, Pillar and Villar both hit RBI singles.
In the top of the seventh, 1B Pete Alonso and Conforto walked and then Smith singled to load the bases. Pillar then grounded into a fielder's choich which brought home a run.
Reliever RHP Miguel Castro started the game in the bottom of the first as an "opener" and threw a scoreless inning with one hit, one walk and one strikeout.
RHP Jordan Yamamoto followed and did a fine job allowing one run on four hits with no walks and one strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
He picked up his first win.
LHP Aaron Loup came in with two outs in the bottom of the fourth and gave up back-to-back singles which brought in a run but the run was charged to Yamamoto since he had given up the two hits prior to the run.
Loup was able to get out of the fourth without allowing any more runs.
RHP Trevor May followed with a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning.
RHP Robert Gsellman gave up one run on two hits in the bottom of the sixth.
RHP Jeurys Familia closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Cardinals at 1:15 p.m.
Brandon Nimmo Goes On 10-Day IL

The New York Mets placed outfielder Brandon Nimmo on the 10-day injured list with a left finger bone bruise following Game 1 of the doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Catcher Patrick Mazieka will replace Nimmo on the roster.
Nimmo hopes to return once his 10-day IL stint is over which began on May 3rd.

Mets Lose to Cardinals 4-1 due to offense struggling once again

The New York Mets lost to the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon in St Louis in the first game of their doubleheader and dropped their record to 11-13.
RHP Marcus Stroman gave up a solo homer to 1B Paul Goldschmidtt in the bottom of the first inning, but recovered to throw a scoreless bottom of the second inning.
Stroman had two quick outs in the bottom of the third, but gave up three straight singles to RF Dylan Carlson, Goldschmidtt and 3B Nolan Arenado to bring in anothe run.
Stroman had a scorless bottom of the fourth inning and got two quick outs in the bottom of the fifth but was let down by his defense after SS Franciso Lindor made a throwing error on a rountine grounder by Arenado and then SS Paul DeJong followed with a two-run homer. Stroman was taken out after the inning.
His final line was 5 innings, 7 hits, 4 runs (2 earned), 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
RHP Jacob Barnes followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning.
The offense did little all game outside of the top of the fourth inning when they loaded the bases after a controversial ruling by the umpires after they ruled an interperter going to the mound to talk to the Cardinals did not count as a mound visit when it should have been.
Catcher James McCann grounded to Arenado at third base who dropped the ball but stepped on third base for the force out and a run crossed home.
2B Jonathan Villar and CF Albert Almora Jr followed with strikeouts to end the threat.
They had two hits all game and it was the seventh time in the last 16 games they have scored two runs or less.
The Mets have another game tonight at the Cardinals 1/2 hour after the first game.

Mets Fire Hitting Coaches Chili Davis and Tom Slater

The New York Mets announced tonight after their game against the Cardinals that they fired hitting coach Chili Davis and assistant hitting coach Tom Slater.
Minor League Director of hitting development Hugh Quattlebaum will take over as hitting coach and director of player development Kevin Howard will take over as assistant hitting coach.
The Mets are 27th in the National League in runs and last in home runs in NL with 17.
Davis was hired by the Mets prior to the 2019 season.
Slater served as the assistant hitting coach since 2018.
Mets Place J.D. Davis on Injured List

New York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis was placed on the injured list today with a hand/finger injury after he hurt hus hand in Philadelphis this past weekend. Davis was hitting well prior to his injury with a .479 on-base percentage and 1.089 on base plus slugging.
RHP Trevor Hildenberger was called up from alternate site as corresponding roster move.

Mets Beat Phillies 8-7 after late six run top of the eighth inning

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-4 tonight to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record back to .500 at 11-11.
The offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after 2B Jeff McNeil doubled and two batters later RF Michael Conforto drove in McNeil with a RBI double.
In the top of the sixth, LF Dom Smith doubled, CF Kevin Pillar singled and then catcher James McCann hit a comebacker back to Phillies starter RHP Zach Efflin who then made a poor throw to second which pulled the fielder off the back and allowed Smith to score.
In the top of the eighth inning, CF Kevin Pillar led off with a solo homer and 3B Jonathan Villar followed with a single.
Villar later came around to score and pinch-hitter Jose Peraza hit a ground-ball that went off of Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins glove.
2B Jeff McNeil singled and then SS Francisco Lindor walked to load the bases.
Conforto then drew a based loaded walk to bring in a run and then 1B Pete Alonso broke the game open with a three-run double.
LHP David Peterson gave up one run on four hits in five innings.
RHP Miguel Castro came in next and gave up a three-run homer to SS Didi Gregarious in the bottom of the sixth.
RHP Jacob Barnes threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
RHP Trevor May threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth and lowered his ERA to 1.93.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth inning and got into immediate trouble after he gave up a RBI triple to CF Roman Quinn and nearly gave up a three-run homer to Hoskins, but the call was overturned after the ball hit the top of the wall and changed to a double. Diaz then left the game with back tightness.

Mets Rally To Beat Phillies 5-4 after Michael Conforto homers in ninth

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 tonight to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their offense to 10-11.
The offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning after SS Francisco Lindor was hit by a pitch with one out and then 2B Jeff McNeil walked. 1B Pete Alonso then came up and drove in the first run of the game with a RBI ground-rule double and then RF Michael Conforto with a two-run double.
3B J.D. Davis followed with a RBI single and after LF Dom Smith singled, catcher James McCann grounded into a double play to end the inning.
The bats went quiet after and couldn't capitalize on any scoring opporuntities, but Conforto came through in the top of the ninth with a solo homer leading off the inning for his third RBI of the game.
RHP Tijuan Walker started out well with a scorleess bottom of the first, but gave up two runs in the bottom of the second after catcher Andrew Knapp hit a RBI single and Phillies starter RHP Zack Wheeler hit a RBI single.
Walker settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third, fourth and fifth innings but he ran into trouble once again in the bottom of the sixth.
Walker gave up a lead-off single to 1B Rhys Hoskins and then two batters a two-run homer to 3B Alec Bohm to tie the game. He was able to get out of the inning without allowing any more runs and was then taken out. His final line was six innings, seven hits, four runs, one walk and four strikeouts.
LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning.
RHP Trevor May then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning and picked up his second win.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on and closed it out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth and two strikeouts to pick up his third save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Phillies on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN at 7:00 p.m.
