Mets vs. Rockies Game 150 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 9-4 tonight for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 77-73. They are now five games behind the Chicago Cubs for the second wild card spot in the National League. LHP Steven Matz started out well allowing one run through three innings on a solo homer by LF Ian Demond, but it all fell apart for him in the bottom of the fourth. Matz gave up a RBI single to CF Garrett Hampson, another RBI single to Rockies starting pitching RHP Antonio Senzatela and a three-run homer to SS Trevor Story for a total of six runs and was tajen out after the inning. His final line was 4 innings, 6 hits, 7 runs, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. RHP Walker Lockett came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning. LHP Luis Avilan and RHP Paul Sewald combined to throw a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia gave up a run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Hampson. RHP Edwin Diaz gave up a RBI double to 3B Nolan Arenado in the bottom of the eighth inning.

CF Brandon Nimmo got the offense off to a fast start with a lead-off solo homer in the top of the first inning. 3B Jeff McNeil hit a two-run homer in the top of the third. SS Amed Rosario hit a RBI double in the top of the fourth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Rockies at 8:40 p.m.
