Mets vs. Diamondbacks Game 145 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-0 tonight for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 75-70. The offense got on the board immediately in the bottom of the first inning after SS Amed Rosario led off with a single and two batters later, 2B Jeff McNeil reached base after he was hit by a pitch. Rosario and McNeil then pulled off a double steal which paid dividends after catcher Wilson Ramos hit a RBI ground-out. LF J.D. Davis followed with a single and 3B Todd Frazier came through with a two-run homer. RF Brandon Nimmo next hit a solo homer. In the bottom of the second inning, McNeil hit a solo homer. In the bottom of the third, Frazier hit a solo homer for his second homer of the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Rosario reached on an infield single and McNeil followed with a two-run homer, his second homer of the night as well.

LHP Steven Matz continued his strong stretch with six scoreless innings allowing four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Matz picked up his `10th win of the year and lowered his ERA to 3.84. RHP Jeurys Familia followed in the top of the seventh and threw a scoreless inning. RHP Paul Sewald threw a 1--2-3 top of the eighth inning. RHP Tyler Bashlor closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Diamondbacks at 1:10 p.m.
