The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 10-7 this afternoon to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 72-70. RHP Noah Syndergarrd started out well with two scoreless innings after he was handed a 3-0 lead, but gave up a sacrifice fly to SS Jean Segura in the top of the third inning and a solo homer to RF Adam Hasely in the top of the fourth. Syndergarrd gave up a two-run homer to RF Corey Dickerson in the top of the fifth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 5 innings, 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. RHP Paul Sewald came in next in the top of the sixth inning and faced two batters, including a double to 1B Rhys Hoskins. LHP Luis Avialan followed in the sixth and gave up a RBI single to pinch-hitter Phil Gosselin and a two-run homer to 3B Maikel Franco. In the top of the seventh inning, LHP Justin Wilson gave up a two-run homer to SS Scott Kingery. RHP Tyler Bashlor followed and gave up a walk with the based loaded to pinch-hitter Bryce Harper.
The offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning after catcher Wilson Ramos hit a two-run homer. 2B Robinson followed with a solo homer of his own. In the bottom of the fifth inning, CF Brandon Nimmo hit a RBI single to tie the game at 4. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ramos hit a RBI ground-out and Cano hit a sac fly. Pinch-hitter Joe Panik hit a RBI single in the bottom of the seventh,
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m.
