Mets vs. Reds Game 155 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-3 this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 81-74. The offense jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning after 1B Pete Alonso and 2B Robinson Cano hit back-to back doubles and Cano hit a RBI double. Wilson Ramos followed with a hit-by pitch and RF Michael Conforto came through with a three-run homer. LF J.D. Davis hit a solo homer in the top of the sixth inning. CF Brandon Nimmo also hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth inning.

RHP Marcus Stroman allowed two runs on three hits in 4.2 innings. Stroman gave up three walks and had two strikeouts. He had to leave the game due to feeling nauseous after 88 pitches. RHP Brad Brach had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the fifth inning with the based loaded and threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning as well. He picked up his fifth win. RHP Edwin Diaz followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning striking out the side. RHP Seth Lugo gave up a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. LHP Justin Wilson closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning and picked up his fourth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
