Robinson Cano Suspended for Entire 2021 Season after second positive PED test

Mets 2B Robinson Cano (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) New York Mets 2B Robinson Cano has been suspended for the entire 2021 season due to testing posiitve for performance enchancing drug Stanozolol. Cano was previously suspended in 2018 while on the Seattle Mariners for also testing posiitve for PEDs. He loses $24 million this year that he was owed by the Mets for the upcoming season. Neither the Mets or Mariners will have to Cano this year. Now with Cano gone for the season, it allows Jeff McNeil to go back to his natural position at second base or bring in somewhere else. It gives more depth and options on the field and helps give stronger defense and more athleticism up the middle.

New York Mets RHP Marcus Stroman Accepts Qualifying Offer from Mets

New York Mets RHP Marcus Stroman (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) New York Mets RHP Marcus Stroman has accepted the one-year qualifying offer for next season 2021 from the team and will return next year as a member of the starting rotation. The qualifying offer is valaued at $18.9 million. Stroman didn't pitch at all this past season after his season was delayed at the start due to an injury and then decided to opt out on August 10 due to COVID-19 concerns. He was traded over to the Mets from the Toronto Blue Jays in July 2019 for prospects LHP Anthony Kay and RHP Simeon Woods Richardson. Stroman went 4-2 with a 3.71 ERA, 4.15 ERA, and 9.1 K/9 in 59 innings for the Mets in 2019.

De Blasio said the team can now go forward with the sale of the team.

Mets RHP Seth Lugo (Credits to Newsday.com) The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 15-5 this afternoon in the final game of their season and finished up with a record of 26-34. RHP Seth Lugo got the start and gave up a lead-off double to LF Andrew Stephenson and two batters later walked RF Juan Soto and gave up a sacrifice fly to DH Yadiel Hernandez. In the bottom of the second, Lugo gave up a single to 1B Brock Holt and a walk to 3B Josh Harrison. He then hit CF Victor Robles to load the bases and later in the inning gave up a two-run double to Stephenson. Lugo then gave up singles to SS Trea Turner and Soto which brought in another run and was then taken out. His finsl line was 1.1 innings, 5 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. LHP Chasen Shrieve came in next and walked Hernandez to load the bases and gave up a sacrifice fly to catcher Yan Gomes but the run was charged to Lugo. RHP Brad Brach followed in the bottom of the third and walked Harrison, 2B Luis Garcia and CF Michael A. Taylor to load the bases and was then taken out. LHP Steven Matz followed and walked Stevenson to bring in a run and then gave up a grand slam to Turner. Matz later gave up a homer to Gomes later in the inning. He settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. RHP Dellin Betances came on in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a lead-off double to Gomez, a double to Holt and walked Harrison to load the bases with one out. RHP Jared Hughes had to come in and walked Turner to bring in a run, but the run was charged to Betances and didn't give any more runs in the inning. RHP Jeurys Famailia followed and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings. The offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning after LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a single and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso hit a two-run homer. CF Guillermo Heredia led off the top of the second inning with a solo homer.In the top of the fourth inning, 2B Luis Guilorme led off with a double and Heredia drove him in with a RBI single. 1B Pete Alonso hit his second homer of the game, a solo shot in the top of the seventh inning. This game marks the end of the Mets 2020 season, but it's the beginning of an exciting offseason with prospective owner Steve Cohen hopefully getting approved soon and a new front office headed by Sandy Alderson to help the team around.
