RHP Clay Holmes started out well with a scoreless top of the first, but then gave up a two-run homer to two-run homer to 1B Matt Gorski in the top of the second.
Holmes had scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth and fifth, but then gave up another two-run homer this time to 3B Jared Triolo in the top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.
Holmes' final line was six innings, seven hits, four runs, one run and four strikeouts.
LHP Genesis Cabrera followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.
RHP Dedniel Nunez came in next and threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Met offense did not do much all night with only six singles.
They wasted numerous scoring opportunities going 0-4 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, May 16 in their first Subway Series game of the season at the Yankees at 7:05 p.m.
