Mets Beat Red Sox 5-1 Behind 3 RBI From Baty

The New York Mets beat the Boston Red Sox 5-1 tonight at Fenway Park to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 30-20.

After a scoreless top of the first, 3B Mark Vientos walked to lead off the top of the second and catcher Luis Torrens followed with a double.

Three batters later, 3B Brett Baty came through with a RBI single to Vientos, but Torrens was thrown out at home.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next four innings, but then came through in the top of the seventh.

Torrens led off with a single and CF Tyrone Taylor followed with a single.

2B Luisangel Acuna then reached on an infield hit to load the bases and Baty followed by delivering once again with a two-run single.

SS Francisco Lindor then grounded into a fielder's choice and stole second.

LF Starling Marte next drew a walk to load the bases and RF Juan Soto delivered with a sacrifice fly.

 In the top of the ninth, Lindor drove in a key insurance run with a solo homer.

RHP Tylor Megill dominated through the first four innings with nine strikeouts, but then ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth.

Megill gave up two infield hits and a hit by pitch and then allowed a sacrifice fly to LF Jarren Duran.

Megill then walked DH Rafael Devers to load the bases and was then taken out.

Megill's final line was 4.2 innings, four hits, one run, one walk and 10 strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and picked up the biggest out of the game after he struck out 3B Alex Bregman.

Brazoban stayed in the game and had a dominating outing throwing 2.1 scoreless innings with one hit and no walks with four strikeouts.

Brazoban picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 0.90.

RHP Reed Garrett followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a bottom of the ninth.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, May 23 at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:10 p.m.
