Mets Beat Rockies 4-2 Behind Two Solo Homers From Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 tonight at Citi Field and improved their record to 35-22.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a homer.

After a scoreless bottom of the second, Lindor singled with one out in the bottom of the third and two batters later, RF Juan Soto drove in Lindor with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the fourth, DH Starling Marte hit a solo homer with one out.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh, Lindor capped off his stellar night at the plate with another solo homer.

LHP David Peterson started out well with scoreless innings, but then ran into trouble in the top of the sixth.

Peterson retired the first two hitters he faced and then 2B Thairo Estrada and gave up a single to CF Brenton Doyle and a RBI double to 3B Ryan McMahon and was then taken out.

Peterson's final line was 5.2 innings, five hits, one run, one walk and five strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and picked up the last out in the top of the sixth.

Brazoban stayed in for the top of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to RF Sam Hillard, but was able to settle down and finish out the inning.

RHP Reed Garrett followed in the top of the eighth with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and had a dominating inning striking out the side to pick up his 12th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, May 31 at home against the Rockies at 4:10 p.m.
