The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 this afternoon at Citi Field to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 21-11.

RHP Kodai Senga started out well with three scoreless innings working out of a based loaded jam in the top of the third and then ran into trouble in the top of the fourth.

Senga gave up a lead-off walk and then a single and two batters later, a RBI single to CF Alex Thomas.

Senga was taken out after the fourth due to a high pitch count of 87 pitches.

RHP Genesis Cabrera came in next in the top of the fifth and gave up a sacrifice fly to 3B Eugenio Suarez.

RHP Max Kranick came in next and had a scoreless top of the sixth and then gave up a solo homer to SS Gerarldo Perdamo in the top of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett followed and had a scoreless top of the eighth, but then came back for the top of the ninth and gave up a solo homer to 2B Tim Tawa.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until the bottom of the sixth after RF Juan Soto hit a solo homer for his first homer at home.

In the bottom of the eighth, Soto came through once again with his second solo homer and then had a chance to tie or take the lead after that, but then 3B Mark Vientos and LF Brandon Nimmo struck out with runners on first and second with one out.

The Met offense's struggles with men on base continued after they went 0-2 with runners in scoring position leaving seven runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 2 at the St. Louis Cardinals at 8:15 p.m.
