Todays News: Joel Hanrahan, injury updates, game tonight

Joel Hanrahan
Joel Hanrahan:The Mets will be among one of the many teams watching Joel Hanrahan's pitching audition. It has been reported that the Mets are viewing the audition with "interest" in signing Hanrahan for the back end of the bullpen. Ever since Vic Black's demotion, and Bobby Parnell's injury, the Mets have felt thin in the back of the bullpen. While Farnsworth and Valverde have looked good so far, how long can we reasonably expect this to last?

Injuries: Curtis Granderson and Juan Lagares both suffered injuries in last night's contest with the Diamondbacks. Granderson's x-rays came back negative, and it appears he will rest a few games before being re evaluated and hopefully inserted back into the lineup. On the other hand, Lagares appears headed to the 15-day DL. Kirk Niewunheis appears to be headed to NY to take his place. In other injury news, the Mets expect Chris Young to be back Friday.

Tonight's Game: Tonight the Mets play the second of three with the Arizona Diamonbacks. Jennry Mejia will oppose long-time Met nemesis, Bronson Arroyo. After already winning the opener, 7-3, the Mets eye the series victory tonight against a slumping Dbacks squad.
