Post Game: Mets 2, Cardinals 0

The Mets (10-9) defeated the Cardinals (11-9) by the score of 2-0 Monday night. Jennry Mejia earned his third win of the season when newly named closer Kyle Farnsworth sealed the deal in the 9th. The Mets have won two in a row. Below are the stars of today's game:

Jennry Mejia-Mejia was brilliant tonight as he blanked a good Cardinals offense through six and two thirds innings. People tend to forget Mejia is only 24 years old and is very much in the Mets' starting pitching plans for the future. There can be an argument made that Mejia has been the best pitcher on the Mets' staff in this young season.

David Wright-not only did David continue his hitting streak to a season long 14 games, but he delivered the Mets' first run of the game with a broken bat single. Wright also turned a 5-4-3 double play in the 9th inning that all but sealed the deal for New York. The captain is heating up and opposition beware.

Travis d'Arnaud-Travis's struggles have been overshadowed by Granderson's slow start, but tonight Travis had two base hits, one resulting in the Mets' second run of the game.
Keith Hernandez has been saying d'Arnaud's swing has been looking a lot better, and tonight might be a sign of things to come.

Next up, the Mets face Adam  Wainwright and the Cardinals in game 2 at Citi Field. Dillon Gee will oppose Wainwright at 7:10 pm.
