Mets Call Up Bobby Abreu

The Mets announced today that they are going to call up Bobby Abreu from Triple-A. In all likelihood, Kirk Niewenhuis will be sent down. The Mets have been trying to find a lefty pinch hitter off of the bench. They're hoping that he can provide some power. Abreu hasn't played in the Major Leagues since the 2012 season with the Los Angeles Angels. He brings a lot of experience and success. He's a 2 time All-Star. He won a Silver Slugger Award. He was the Player of the Month for the NL and AL. He was also a member of the 30-30 Club. I'm hoping that Abreu can give some much needed pop to this bench. I think he will be effective against lefty pitching. It will be interesting to see what the Mets do with Abreu once Juan Lagares is activated off the DL.
