This afternoon, at Citi field, the Mets (14-11) defeated the Marlins (11-14) by the score of 4-0. The Mets finish their 10 game home stand with a 6-4 record, after starting with a 1-2 record. The Mets continue to stay in sole possession of second place. Below are the players who impacted today's contest:
Dillon Gee-first and foremost Dillon Gee was outstanding today. After a day when the Mets lost a big lead and fell apart, Gee picked them right back up. Dillon tossed 110 pitches, the most since his blood clot scare a few seasons back, over eight three hit innings. Gee has been given the number 1 spot in the rotation and ran with it.
Chris Young/Lucas Duda-batting 5 and 6 in the lineup, respectively, both Chris Young and Lucas Duda got the Mets going. Young, who has raw power, hit a monster home run to make the game 4-0. From that point on the Mets never looked back. What more can be said about Lucas Duda right now. The man is as comfortable as we've seen in a Mets uniform. My belief is because he finally has first base to himself. Young and Duda are going to be staples in the Mets' lineup this season, and we need them to continue hitting.
David Wright- the Captain hasn't hit for much power in the early going, but he's driving in runs. After a Granderson walk, Wright delivered with a double off the left field wall to put the Mets up 1-0. On the defensive side of the ball, Wright led the way for the defensive-savy Mets with a diving catch and a few nifty double plays.
Next up, the Mets head on the road for a 9 game road trip beginning on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
