The offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a walk and two batters later, LF Dom Smith hit a two-run homer. The bats went quiet after that for the next seven innings until the bottom of the eighth after 1B Pete Alonso hit a game-tying RBI single. 2B Jeff McNeil and RF Michael Conforto followed with a fielders choice and walk and then McCann hit a infield single to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Jonathan Villar then came through with a walk-off single. The Mets have another game tonight against the Phillies and will try to sweep the doubleheader.
