Mets Shutout By Dodgers 6-0 In Sluggish post-All Star game

 The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-0 tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive game and dropped their record to 42-49.

RHP Justin Verlander started out with four scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the fifth.

Verlander gave up a two-run single to 2B Mookie Betts and a RBI double to 1B Freddie Freeman and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings. two hits, three runs, six walks and six strikeouts.

LHP David Peterson came in next in the top of the sixth and gave up a RBI single to SS Miguel Rojas.

RHP Trevor Gott threw a scoreless inning in the top of the seventh.

RHP Dominic Leone followed and gave up a solo homer to DH J.D. Martinez in the top of the eighth.

RHP Drew Smith came in next in the tpp of the ninth and gave up a RBI ground-out to catcher Will Smith.

The Met offense did little all night outside of a lead-off double by CF Brandon Nimmo in the bottom of the first.

They had only one hit and went 0-3 with runners in scoring position leaving four runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Saturday, July 15 at home against the Dodgers at 7:15 p.m.
