Mets Rally To Beat Diamondbacks 2-1 in Ninth Inning

 The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 tonight at Chase Field for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 40-46.

The Met offense was silenced for the first eight innings, but came alive with two outs in the top of the ninth against closer LHP Andrew Chavin.

Catcher Francisco Alvares hit a game-tying solo homer with two outs to the opposite field to to tie the game and then 3B Brett Baty followed with a single.

DH Mark Canha came up next and hit a towering game-winning triple to centerfield to bring in Baty,

RHP Kodai Senga had a spectacular outing allowing one run on four hits in eight inning.

He gave up one walk with 12 strikeouts.

Senga was in complete control all night and had outstanding command of his "ghostfork" splitter along with his blazing fastball topping out in the upper 90's.

It was without a doubt the best start of his rookie season.

He picked up his seventh win and lowered his ERA to 3.31.

RHP David Robertson closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth and picked up his 13th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, July 6 at the Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m.
