Wednesday Night's Mets-Marlins Game Postponed

The New York Mets announced following tonight's game that tomorrow's night game against the Marlins has been officially postponed due to impending rain. The game will be made up as a part of a single-admisson doubleheader on September 28th beginning at 4:10 p.m. Game 2 will start approximately 30-40 minutes after the end of the first game. The Mets next game is on Thursday, September 2nd at home against the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Marlins 3-1 to Sweep Doubleheader Behind a Two-Run Homer By Michael Conforto

The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings, but came alive in the bottom of the fourth after 3B Jonathan Villar led off with a single and CF Brandon Nimmo followed by reaching on an infield single. 1B Pete Alonso struck out, but then RF Michael Conforto hit a two-run homer. SS Javier Baez followed with a single and then 2B Javier Baez delivered a RBI double. RHP Trevor Williams cruised through the first four innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the fifth after Villar made an error and then Williams allowed a base hit that went off his foot. Williams that gave up a double to 1B Jesus Aguilar and was taken out. His final line was 4.1 innings, 4 hits, 0 earned runs (1 unearned), 0 walks and 4 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup came in next and walked 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr, but was able to 3B Isan Diaz to ground into a double play to end the inning. Loup picked up his fourth win. RHP Seth Lugo came in next in the top of the sixth and worked around a hit and walk to throw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. RHP Edwin Diaz followed and closed out the top of the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning to pick up his 27th save. The Mets next game against the Marlins is postponed due to rain and their next game is on Thursday, September 2 against the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Rally To Beat Marlins 6-5 With Five Runs In Bottom Of Ninth

Mets 2B Javier Baez (Photo Credits to Adam Hunger-AP) The New York Mets beat the Florida Marlins 6-5 this afternoon at Citi Field in the first game of a doubleheader that was a suspended game from April 11th for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 64-67. The offesne didn't do much for the first eight innings outside of a solo homer by 3B Jonthan Villar, but came alive in the bottom of the ninth. Catcher Chance Sisco walked with one out and then CF Brandon Nimmo followed with a two-run homer. SS Francisco Lindor lined out for the second out, but LF Dom Smith singled and 1B Pete Alonso doubled. Pinch-hitter Javier Baez came up and hit a chopper to SS and beat out an infield hit. RF Michael Conforto then came up and hit a line drive that found a hole in the left side of the infield which allowed Alonso to score to tie the game and then Baez turned up the speed and was able to score all the way from first for the winning run. RHP Taijuan Walker got the start in a game that was orignally started by RHP Marcus Stroman and Walker allowed three runs on seven hits with no walks and six strikeouts in five innings. RHP Heath Hembree came in next and gave up two runs in the top of the sixth. RHP Miguel Castro followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth innings. RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his eighth win. The Mets next game is their scheduled regular game against the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Tomas Nido Placed On Injured List

Catcher Tomas Nido has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse as corresponding roster move.

Mets Beat Nationals 9-4 Lead By Jonathan Villar, Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez

Mets 3B Jonathan Villar, LF Dom Smith and SS Francisco Lindor (Photo Credits to Robert Sabo-NY Post) The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 9-4 this afternoon at Citi Field for their second consecutive win to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 63-67. The offense got on the board early in the bottom of the first after CF Brandon Nimmo walked with one out and then SS Francisco Lindor grounded into a fielder's choice. Lindor then advanced to second on a passed ball and then later scored on a balk by Nationals starter RHP Erick Fedde. The bats didn't do much for the next couple of innings until the bottom of the fourth after 1B Pete Alonso led off with a single and two batters later 2B Javier Baez hit a two-run homer. In the bottom of the sixth, RF Kevin Pillar lead off with a single and stole second. Pinch-hitter Dom Smith then drove in Pillar with a RBI single. 3B Jonathan Villar followed with a two-run homer. After a scoreeless bottom of the seventh, catcher Patrick Mazieka led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk and two batters later, Villar reached on an infield single. Nimmo was hit by a pitch to load the bases and then SS Francisco Lindor broke the game open with a two-run double. RHP Tylor Megill started out well with three scoreless innings, but then gave up a two-run homer to 1B Josh Bell in the top of the fourth. Megill had a scoreless top of the fifth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 5 innings, 1 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Megill picked up his second win. LHP Aaron Loup followed in the top of the sixth and gave up a solo homer to RF Juan Soto. RHP Miguel Castro then threw a scoreless top of the seventh. RHP Jeurys Familia gave up ao solo homer to Bell in the top of the eighth, Bell's second homer of the day. RHP Heath Hembree closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth. The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday August 31th in a doubleheader against the Miami Marlins. The first game is a continuation of a suspended game on April 11.

Mets Rally To Beat Nationals 5-3 On a Three-Run Homer From Michael Conforto

Mets RF Michael Conforto (Photo Credits to Andy Marlin-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 5-3 tonight at Citi Field to snap their four-game losing streak and improved their record to 62-67. The offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the bottom of the third after RF Kevin Pillar hit a solo homer. Pillar struck again in the bottom of the fifth for another solo homer, his second of the night. The bats went quiet for the next couple of innings until the bottom of the eighth after LF Jeff McNeil led off the inning with a single and then Pillar followed with a hit-by pitch. Pinch-hitter Michael Conforto then came up and delivered a three-run homer for the first pinch-hit homer of his career. RHP Marcus Stroman worked out of a based loaded jam in the top of the first, but ran into trouble in the top of the second after he gave up a lead-off walk and later in the inning a RBI double to CF Lane Thomas and a RBI single to SS Alcides Escobar. Stroman settled down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings and was then taken out. His final line was 6 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. RHP Trevor May came on in the top of the seventh and gave up a lead-off hit and a single with two outs, but then gave up a wild pitch with RF Juan Soto up at the plate which allowed catcher Riley Adams to score. May came back to strike out Soto to end the inning. May picked up his sixth win. RHP Seth Lugo followed and gave up a lead-off single, but was then able to get a ground-ball which resulted in a 3-6-3 double play. Lugo struck out 3B Carter Kieboom to end the inning. RHP Edwin Diaz then came in the top of the ninth and closed it out with a 1-2-3 inning and picked up his 26th save. The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Nationals at 1:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Nationals 2-1 After Offense Struggles Once Again

LHP Rich Hill started out well with two scorless innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the third after he gave up a lead-off single to Nationals starting pitcher RHP Paolo Espino and then hit CF Victor Robles. Hill then gave up a single to SS Alcides Escobar to load the bases and then allowed a RBI ground-out to RF Juan Soto. Hill then gave up a RBI single to 1B Josh Bell. Hill was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth and was then taken out. His final line was 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks and 8 strikeouts. RHP Heath Hembree followed with a scoreless top of the sixth. RHP Miguel Castro then threw a scoreless top of the seventh. RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless top of the eighth. RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth. The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until 2B Javier Baez hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. Mets Lose to Giants 3-2 And Continue To Struggle With Men On Base

RHP Carlos Carrasco got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a two-run homer to 3B Kris Bryant, but settled in after that. Carrasco had a 1-2-3 top of the second inning and then finished up strong after he retired the last 12 hitters he faced. His final line was 7 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts. RHP Seth Lugo followed in the top of the eighth and gave up a lead-off single to CF Mike Yastremski and then hit catcher Curt Casaili. Lugo gave up a RBI single to the next hitter pinch-hitter Darin Ruff and was then taken out. LHP Aaron Loup came on and then gave up a walk to load the bases, but then got pinch-hitter Thairo Estrada to gound out to 3B Jonathan Villar to glove-flip the ball home for the first out. Loup then struck out Bryant and retired SS Brandon Crawford on a pop-out to end the inning. RHP Trevor May followed with a scorless top of the ninth. The offense didn't do much for the first five innings included double-plas ground-outs by 2B Javier Baez in the bottom of the the third and LF Dominic Smith in the bottom of the fourth. In the bottom of the sixth, Baez doubled with one out and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer. After a scoreless bottom of the seventh, Baez led off the bottom of the eighth with a single and then Villar and pinch-hitter Michael Conforto walked to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil then came up and hit a sharp grounder right at Crawford to end the inning. They went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth and were 1-5 with runners in scoring positon and left nine men on base. Mets Lose To Giants 3-2 And Waste Multiple Scoring Opportunities

RHP Taijuan Walker started out well with three scoreless innings, but then gave up a solo homer to 3B Kris Bryant in the top of the fourth. Walker settled down with scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth, but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh after Bryant reached on an error by 3B Jonathan Villar and then gave up a single to LF Alex Dickerson and was then taken out. LHP Aaron Loup came in next and gave up a two-run double to SS Brandon Crawford. Loup was able to get out of the inning without allowing any more runs. RHP Seth Lugo followed with a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Trevor May then threw a scoreless top of the ninth. The offesne didn't do much for the first four innings including a double play Villar in the bottom of the secoond, but in the bottom of the fift, Villar walked with one out and then Walker singled. CF Brandon Nimmo walked to load the bases and then 1B Pete Alonso reached on a throwing error by Bryant which brought home a run. In the following inning, RF Michael Conforto singled to lead off the inning and then two batters later, LF Dom Smith hit a RBI double to score Conforto. Villar followed with a single, but catcher Patrick Mazieka then grounded into a double play to end the inning. The bats went quiet for the next couple of inning, but came alive in the bottom of the ninth after Villar singled with one out and then pinch-hitter Brandon Drury reached on an error. Pinch-hitter Francisco Lindor then popped out and Nimmo walked to load the bases with two outs. 1B Pete Alonso then came up and was not able to come through and popped out to end the game. They went 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. The Mets next game is tomorrow night agains the Giants at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Giants 8-0 after Tylor Megill gives up four homers

RHP Tylor Megill got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a solo homer to 1B Brandon Belt. Megill's struggles continued in the top of the second after he gave up a two-run homer to RF Mike Yastremski. Megill had a difficult top of the fourth after he gave up a two-run homer to RF Lamonte Wade Jr, a solo homer to Belt and a RBI single to SS Brandon Crawford and he was taken out with two outs. His final line was 3.2 innings, 11 hits, 7 runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts. RHP Trevor Williams followed with 2.1 scoreless innings. RHP Migeul Castro then threw a scoreless top of the seventh, but came back out for the eighth and gave up a RBI single to Belt. The offensive struggles continued and they were not able to generate many hits against LHP Sammy Long. They had three hits against Long in five hits and wasted a first and second opportunity in the bottom of the sixth. They were able to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but LF Jeff McNeil grounded out with two outs. The bats went 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Mets Beat Dodgers 7-2 Behind Javier Baez and J.D. Davis

The offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a walk and two batters later, SS Javier Baez hit a RBI double. 3B J.D. Davis followed with a RBI single. LF Brandon Drury then grounded out, but SS Jonathan Villar delivered with a RBI single. The bats went quiet after that for the new few innings until the top of the seventh after Baez doubled with two outs and then Davis followed with a two-run homer. In the top of the ninth, Nimmo singled with one out and then 1B Pete Alonsos and Baez were hit by pitches which loaded the bases. Davis then walked to bring in a run and pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil followed with a RBI ground-out. RHP Marcus Stroman started out with three scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth after he gave up a two-run single to CF Cody Bellinger. Stroman was able to work out of that inning without allowing any more runs to maintain the lead and then settled down with scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth and sixth and was taken out. His final line was 6 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. He picked up his ninth win. RHP Jeurys Familia followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Trevor May then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth. RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth. The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action back at home on Tuesday, August 24th against the San Francisco Giants at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Dodgers 4-3 And Waste Another Opportunity With Men On Base

LHP Rich Hill got off to a difficult start in the bottom of the first after he gave up solo homers to lead-off hitter 2B Trea Turner and 1B Albert Pujois. Hill settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third, but gave up a solo homer to RF Chris Taylor in the bottom of the fourth. Hill had a scoreless bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 5 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs, 0 walks and 2 strikeouts. RHP Miguel Castro followed in the bottom of the sixth and ran into trouble after he gave up a bloop single and than back-to-back walks to load the bases. Castro then walked Taylor to bring in a run and was taken out with the based loaded and no out. RHP Jeurys Familia came in next and worked out of the jam without allowing any runs. LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Seth Lugo then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth. The offense wasted an opportunity in the top of the first inning after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double, but was not able to advance off second. The bats didn't do much in the next few innings until the top of the fifth when Nimmo homered with two outs. 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a double and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a hit-by pitch. RF Michael Conforto then walked to load the bases, but 3B J.D. Davis struck out to end the inning like he did last night. Davis has struck out in all six of his at-bats with the based loaded this year. After a scoreless top of the sixth, McNeil walked with two outs and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer. In the tpp of the ninth, pinch-hitter Kevin Pillar led off with a hit-by pitch, but then Nimmo flew out and McNeil and Alonso struck out to end the game. They were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. The Mets next game is at the Dodgers tomorrow afternoon at 4:10 p.m.

Reed has been experiencing right forearm inflammation and McCann has been dealing with back spasms. RHP Carlos Carrasco got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to 2B Trea Turner and later a RBI ground-out to 3B Justin Turner. After a scoreless bottom of the second, Carrassco gave up a lead-off single to Trea Turner in the bottom of the third and thena RBI double to the following hitter 1B Max Muncy. Later in the inning, Carrasco walked Justin Turner and then gave up a RBI single to SS Corey Seager. Carrasco had a scoreless bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning. RHP Taijuan Walker had a scoreless bottom of the first inning, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the second after he walked SS Corey Seager and then gave up a double to catcher Will Smith. Walker then gave up RBI ground-outs to LF AJ Pollack and RF Chris Tylor. Walker then settled down with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, he gave up a single to Taylor who then advanced to third on a throwing error by 3B J.D. Davis. Walker then gave up a RBI double to pinch-hitter Billy McKinney and later a RBI single to 2B Trea Turner. Walker then had a scoreless bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 6 innings, 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. RHP Trevor Williams followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings. Mets Beat Giants 6-2 In 12 Innings Behind Clutch Hitting By Kevin Pillar

Ross Cameron-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 6-2 in 12 innings this afternoon in San Franciso to snap their five-game losing streak and improved their record back at .500 at 60-60. The offense didn't do much for the first eight innings, but came alive in the top of the ninth after 1B Pete Alonso led off with a hit-by-pitch and RF Michael Conforto followed with a RBI single. 3B J.D. Davis then drove in a sacirifice fly to tie the game. After a scoreless top of the tenth,RF Michael Conforto drove in 2B Jeff McNeil in the top of the eleventh who was the automatic runner to start the inning. In the following inning with LF Dom Smith as the automatic runner, catcher Patrick Mazeika singled with one out and then LF Kevin Pillar came through with a three-run homer. Two batters later, McNeil doubled and then catcher Chance Sisco hit a RBI double. RHP Tylor Megill had another strong start allowing one run on five hits in six innings. Megill gave up two walks and had six strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 3.21. RHP Miguel Castro followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Trevor May then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth. RHP Edwin Diaz threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the ninth and tenth innings. RHP Jeurys Familia gave up a run in the bottom of the eleventh, but picked up his seventh win. RHP Jake Reed closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the twelfth inning. LHP Rich Hill started out well with three scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth after he gave up a double to catcher Buster Posey and a RBI single to the following hitter LF Darin Ruff. Hill then gave up singles to 3B Evan Longoria and SS Brandon Crawford and was then taken out. His final line was 3.2 innings 6 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks and 2 strikeouts. RHP Miguel Castro came in and retired pinch-hitter Tommy La Stella to end the inning. Castro stayed in for the bottom of the fifth and gave up a one-out pinch-hit double to Alex Dickerson and then a two-run homer to RF Kris Bryant. RHP Jeurys Familia came on in the bottom of the sixth and threw a scoreless inning. RHP Trevor May followed in the bottom of the seventh and got immediate trouble after he gave up back-to-back homers to 1B Brandon Belt and Bryant and after retiring the next two hitters, he walked Longoria and then a RBI triple to Crawford. RHP Carlos Carrsco got into immediate trouble in the top of the first inning and gave up a two-run homer to 3B Justin Turner and a solo homer to catcher Will Smith. Carrasco's struggles continued in the top of the second inning after he gave up a two-run double to 2B Trea Turner and a solo homer to 1B Max Muncy and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 2 innings, 6 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. RHP Jake Reed came in next for his first appearance as a Met since last pitching for the Dodgers on July 18 with three scoreless innings allowing two hits with three strikeouts. RHP Yennsy Diaz followed and gave up a sacrifice fly to Dodgers starter RHP Max Scherizer and a two-run homer to Muncy. Mets Beat Nationals 5-4 After Pete Alonso Delivers a Walk-Off Homer

The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the bottom of the fourth after RF Michael Conforto led off with a double and 3B J.D. Davis followed with a RBI double. SS Jonathan Villar then singled and then catcher James McCann grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run. In the bottom of the sixth, Conforto led off with a single and then two batters later Villar hit a two-run homer. In the following inning, 1B Pete Alonso came up with one hit and capped out a stellar series with a walk-off solo homer, which is the second walk-off homer of his career. RHP Trevor Williams made his first start as a Met after he was acquried from the Chicago Cubs along with Javier Baez and had a strong outing starting out well with four scorless innings. Williams ran in trouble in the top of the fifth after he gave up a double to SS Adrian Sanchez and a single to catcher Tres Barrea and was taken out. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and then gave up a sacrifice fly to pinch-hitter Yadiel Hernandez, but retired CF Victor Robles to end the inning. RHP Trevor May came on in the top of the seventh and got into trouble and loaded the bases and was then taken out. After a scoreless bottom of the first inning, SS Jonathan Villar led off the bottom of the second witha single and then two batters RHP Marcus Stroman reached on a bunt single to third. CF Brandon Nimmo then came up and delivered a three-run homer. In the bottom of the fourth, RF Michael Conforto led off with a single and then catcher Tomas Nido followed with a single. Stroman struck out, but then Nimmo continued his strong day at the plate with a RBI single, his fourth RBI of the game. RHP Marcus Stroman had another strong start and started out well with five scoreless innings. Stroman ran into trouble in the top of the sixth after he gave up a lead-off walk to catcher Riley Adams and then a single to the following hitter pinch-hitter Andrew Stevenson. Mets Lose to Phillies 3-0 After Zack Wheeler Throws a Dominating Complete Game Shutout

Phillies RHP Zack Wheeler (Photo Credits to Wendell Cruz-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Phildelphia Phillies 3-0 in Phidelphia to get swept their three-game series and fourth consecutive loss overall and dropped their record to 56-55. RHP Tijuan Walker got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first inning afer he gave up solo homers to 2B Jean Segura and catcher J.T Realmuto. Walker settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third, fourth and fifth. He gave up another solo homer to RF Bryce Harper in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 6 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. RHP Jeurys Familia followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Trevor May then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth. The offense got off to a good start against former Met RHP Zack Wheeler after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double in the top of the first. The bats didn't much after that until RF Michael Conforto walked in the top of the eighth and was left stranded at first base. They managed only two hits and one walk against Wheeler who was in complete command all afternoon. Wheeler had 11 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, August 10th at home against the Washington Nationals at 7:10 p.m.

Baez grounded out to second, but didn't make an effort to run to first base and grimaced after he swung and then walked into the dugout with manager Luis Rojas after taking a minute to exit batter's box. Baez was grabbing his lower back/hip area on the left side.

Mets Lose To Phillies 5-3 After Ninth Inning Rally Comes Up Short

Phillies LF Odubel Herrera (Photo Credits to Kyle Ross-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 in Philadelphia for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 56-54 and now trail the Phillies by 1.5 games in the National League East standings. RHP Tylor Megill cruised through the first three innings with four strikeouts and worked out of a lead-off double by LF Odubel Herrea in the bottom of the fourth. Megill ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth after he gave up a lead-off homer to 1B Brad Miller and then a double to the following hitter 3B Alec Bohm. Megill then walked CF Travis Janikowski and then retired pinch-hitter Nick Maton on a fly-out. Megills's struggles continued after he gave up a three-run homer to Herrea which broke the game open. Megill then gave up a single to 2B Jean Segura and was taken out. His final line was 4.2 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. RHP Miguel Castro gave on and retired catcher J.T. Realmuto on a pop-out to end the inning. RHP Drew Smith followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning. RHP Yennsy Diaz then threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh. Diaz stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to Miller, his second of the day. The offense didn't do much for the first eighth inningd, but finally came alive in the top of the ninth. RF Michael Conforto led off the inning with a solo homer and then 2B Jonathan Villar and catcher James McCann followed with solo homers of their own for back-to-back-to-back homers. LF Kevin Pillar kept the rally going with a single, but then pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil popped out to first and 1B Pete Alonso and 3B J.D. Davis struck out to end the game. The Mets next game is tomororw afternoon at the Phillies at 1:05 p.m.

RHP Marcus Stroman had a scoreless bottom of the first, but gave up a solo homer to SS Didi Gregarious in the bottom of the second. Stroman settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, but gave up a triple to 1B Brad Miller and then later a RBI single to starting pitcher RHP Kyle Gibson. Stroman was taken out after the inning. His final line was 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth. RHP Seth Lugo then threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the eighth and got into trouble after he gave up a single to 2B Jean Segura and then a two-run homer to RF Bryce Harper. The bats didn't do much for the first couple of innings, but in the top of the third CF Brandon Nimmo and 1B Pete Alonso walked and then LF Dom Smith came through later in the inning with an RBI single. The offense was quiet after that until the top of the ninth after 3B Jonathan Villar hit a solo homer. They left eight runners on base and were 1-8 with runners in scoring position. Mets Lose to Marlins 4-2 And Leave 15 Men On Base

Mets SS Javy Baez (Photo Credits to Getty Images) The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 4-2 this afternoon in Miami to lose three out of three four games in the series and dropped their record to 56-52. LHP Rich Hill started out well with two scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the third after he gave up a single to SS Miguel Rojas hit a single to right-center field and then CF Albert Almora Jr and RF Michael Conforto were unable to decide who gets the ball and Conforto kicked it which allowed Rojas to go to second. Hill allowed Rojas to steal third and then gave up a sacrifice fly to 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr. Hill settled down after that and had scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings and was then taken out. His final line was 5 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 0 earned runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. RHP Miguel Castro followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning. RHP Drew Smith then threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Jeurys Familia came on in the bottom of the eighth inning and gave up a walk on a close pitch on one out with lead to three runs. The offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning after that loaded the bases with no out, but 3B J.D. Davis and SS Javier Baez struck out and RF Michael Conforto flew out to end the inning. In the following inning, CF Albert Almora singled with one out and then Hill grounded into a double play to end the inning. The bats continued to struggle with men on base after Hill struck out with runners on the corner and two outs in the top of the fourth and then SS Javier Baez struck out with runners on first and second and two outs in the top of the fifth. In the top of the sixth, CF Albert Almora doubled and CF Brandon Nimmo walked and then 2B Jonathan Villar drove in a run with a RBI single. The offense didn't do much in the next two innings, but came alive in the top of the ninth after 1B Pete Alonso led off and reached on an error. Davis walked with one out and then Baez struck out for the fifth time for the second out. Conforto then reached on an infield hit and pinch-hitter Brandon Drury delivered a RBI single. Almora then came up and grounded out to end the game. They left 15 runners on base and were 4-13 with runners in scoring position. The Mets next game is tomororw night at the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:00 p.m.

Mets Beat Marlins 5-3 Behind A Stellar Performance By Javier Baez

Mets SS Javier Baez (Photo Credits to Jim Rassol-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 tonight in Miami to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 56-51. The offense got on the board early in the top of the second inning after LF Dom Smith doubled and then SS Javier Baez singled and RF Michael Conforto walked to load the bases. 3B Jonathan Villar drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout. Catcher Tomas Nido followed by grounding into a fielder's choice, but Baez was able to make a remarkable play after he avoided the tag at home plate which helped him score the second run of the game. RHP Carlos Carrasco followed by bunting the ball back to Marlins starter RHP Zack Thompson and then Thompson threw wildly to second trying to complete the double play which allowed another run to score. The bats didn't much after that until the top of the eighth when Baez led off the inning wit a solo homer to the opposite field. RF Michael Conforto and pinch-hitter J.D. Davis later in the inning. CF Brandon Nimmo walked to load the bases and cathcer Alex Jackson had a passed ball on ball four to Nimmo which allowed Conforto to score. RHP Carlos Carrasco allowd two runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. Carrasco started out well, but gave up three consecutive hits in the fifth which led to a run and was taken out. LHP Aaron Loup came in and gave up a RBI ground-out to SS Jazz Chisholm Jr, but didn't allow any more runs in the inning and struck out one out of the two batters he faced. RHP Jeurys Familia followed in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a solo homer to 1B Jesus Aguilar, but was able to keep the game tied. RHP Miguel Castro then came in and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning and picked up his third win. RHP Drew Smith threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Trevor May closed with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning with two strikeouts and picked up his fourth save. The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Marlins at 12:10 p.m.

Mets Lose To Marlins 5-4 After Offense Is Unable To Come Though In Ninth

Mets RHP Taijuan Walker (Photo Credits to Jason Vinlove-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 5-4 in Miami tonight for their third consecutive loss and eight in last 10 games and dropped their record to 55-51. RHP Tijuan Walker had another difficult outing after he gave up a solo homer to catcher Alex Jackson in the bottom of the second and another solo homer to 2B Isan Diaz in the bottom of the third. Walker's struggles continued in the bottom of the third after he gave up a two-run single to RF Bryan De La Cruz. Walker was abe to settle down after that and retired nine of the last 10 batters he face and was taken out with two outs in the sixth. His final line was 5.2 innings, 8 hits, 4 runs, 2 walksa and 4 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the sixth. RHP Seth Lugo followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning and stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and gave up hits to CF Lewis Brinson and LF Jorge Alfaro to bring in a much needed insurance run. The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the top of the fourth when 2B Jeff McNeil led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch and two batters later, LF Dom Smith drove in McNeil with a sacrifice fly. After a scoreless top of the fifth inning, 1B Pete Alonso led off the top of the sixth with a walk and McNeil followed with a hit-by-pitch. SS Javier Baez lined out to center which moved Alonso to third, but then Smith drove in his second run of the game with another sacrifice fly. 3B J.D. Davis followd with a RBI double to the opposite field and narrowly missed a game-tying two-run homer. The bats didn't much do for the next innings, but in the top of the ninth inning, Smith led off with a single and Davis grounded into a fielder's choice which moved Smith to second. RF Michael Conforto then grounded out to third for the second out, but catcher James McCann kept the game alive with a RBI double to the opposite field. Pinch-hitter Brandon Drury was not able to come through and grounded out to end the game. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Marlins 6-3 After Offense Continues To Struggle With Men On Base

RHP Tylor Megill had the worst start of his young career and got into immediate trouble in the bottom of the first afer he gave up back-to-back singles to 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr and SS Miguel Rojas and then 1B Jesus Aguilar reached first on a catcher's interference to load the bases. Megill then gave up a grand slam to LF Lewis Brinson. Megill had a scoreless bottom of the second inning, but gave up another run in the bottom of the third inning after Brinson singled and 3B Isan Diaz hit a RBI double. Megill settled down after that with 1-2-3 innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the fifth. His final line was 5 innings, 6 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned runs, 0 walks and 4 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth. RHP Jeurys Familia then threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Trevor May came on in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a lead-off triple to Rojas and then intentionally walked Aguilar and then gave up an infield hit to Brinson who reached first safely after SS Javier Baez made a throwing error which brought home a run. The offense had a scoreless top of the first inning, but in the top of the second, Baez walked and advanced to third on a single by 3B J.D. Davis. Baez came around to score on a wild pitch by Marlins starter LHP Jesus Luzardo. Later in the inning, RF Brandon Drury continued his torrid hitting with a RBI double to score Davis. 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the top of the third, his 24th on the season. The offense didn't do much else after that and had a chance to score in the top of the eighth, but Drury grounded out to short with the based loaded and two out. They were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
