Mets vs. White Sox Game 51 Recap
The New York Mets lost to Chicago White Sox tonight 6-4 to drop their record to 29-22. They are now 2 games out of first place in the National League East behind the Washington Nationals. RHP Hansel Robles gave up 3 runs in the top of the 8th inning and took the loss. This is the second consecutive outing for Robles where he has given up 3 runs in an inning. After Robles was taken out, LHP Jerry Blevins came in and gave up a walk with the based loaded to give up a third run in the inning. LHP Steven Matz gave up 2 runs in the sixth inning after cruising through the first five innings. He never made it out of the 6th inning and was replaced by RHP Jim Henderson. It was uncharacteristic of Matz to blow a 4 run lead, but it happen from time to time. He was due to have a rough start after 7 consecutive wins. Hopefully he bounces back in his next start. The Mets offense went quiet after scoring 4 runs in the first 3 innings and didn't score the rest of the game. CF Yoenis Cespedes and RF Curtis Granderson hit sacrifice flies. 2B Neil Walker hit a 2 run homer.

Mets Activate James Loney and send Eric Campbell to Triple-A
The Mets have sent Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas in order to make a roster spot for new acquisition 1B James Loney. The Mets have designed RHP Jeff Walters for assignment to make room for Loney on the 40-man roster. Loney was hitting .342 with a .373 on-base percentage and .424 slugging percentage in 43 games with the Padres' Triple-A affiliate. He hit 9 doubles, two homers and had 28 RBI's in 158 at-bats. Loney is a lifetime .285 major league hitter and has hit .303 for his career with runners in scoring position. Most likely, Loney will be a platoon with Wilmer Flores at first base. He will get the majority of his start against right handed pitching. However, as long as David Wright is out of the lineup, Loney will play everyday.

Mets vs. White Sox Game 50 Recap
The New York defeated the Chicago White Sox 1-0 this afternoon to win the first game of the series to snap their two game losing streak and improve their record to 29-21. RHP Matt Harvey had a bounce back outing today pitching 7 scoreless innings. He gave up only 2 hits and 1 walk. He had 6 strikeouts. He looked much better and threw as hard as 97 mph on his fastball. He had sharp command of his curveball, changeup and slider. He hasn't had that kind of control in a while, so it was encouraging to see. Hopefully Harvey can build off this start and get back to pitching like the ace the Mets expected him to be. Today was a huge step in the right direction for him. After Harvey was taken off, RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless inning. RHP Jeurys Famila pitched a scoreless 9th and picked up his 17th save. 2B Neil Walker delivered the only run of the game with a solo homer, his twelfth homer of the season.

Mets vs. Dodgers Game 49 Recap
The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles tonight 4-2 to drop their record to 28-21 and lose 2 out of 3 in the series. RHP closer Jeurys Familia gave up 2 runs in the top of the 9 and took the loss. Familia struggled this series and gave up 6 runs in 2 innings. He gave up 4 runs in the top of the ninth on Friday night. It's very uncharacteristic of Familia to struggle like this. Hopefully he can get it together and bounce back. He needs to finish out games and getting back to being the dominant close he was last year for the Mets to return to the World Series and to win it all this year. Starter RHP Bartolo Colon pitched a fine game and gave up 2 runs in 7 innings. He picked up a no-decision. SS Asdrubral Cabrera hit a home run. RF Curtis Granderson hit an RBI triple.
Mets Activate Wilmer Flores Off DL
The Mets have activated IF Wilmer Flores from the disabled list for tonight's game against the Dodgers. He will play third base tonight in David Wright's place who is out with a neck injury. Flores will most likely platoon with James Loney at first baseman once Loney arrives. SS Matt Reynolds was sent down as the corresponding roster move.

Mets vs. Dodgers Game 48 Recap
The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight 9-1 to drop their record to 28-20. They are still tied for first place in the National League East since the Washington Nationals also lost. Mets starter RHP Noah Syndergarrd only pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up 2 hits and had 3 strikeouts. Syndergarrd was ejected for throwing behind Dodgers 2B Chase Utley. Mets manager Terry Collins was also ejected. There is still a lot of bad blood between the Mets and Utley after he broke former Met SS Ruben Tejada's leg in Game 2 of the NLDS last year. It will be interesting to see what repercussions happen to Syndergarrd. Hopefully he doesn't get suspended. That would be very unfair since he didn't hit Utley. All he did was throw behind him. After Syndergarrd was ejected, RHP Logan Verrett came in and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 in 3 2/3 innings. LHP Antonio Bastardo gave up 3 runs after relieving Verrett. RHP Hansel Robles also gave up 3 runs after Bastardo was taken out. The only run that the Mets scored was on a home run by CF Juan Lagares.

Mets Acquire James Loney
According to ESPN reporter Adam Rubin, the New York Mets have acquired 1B James Loney from the San Diego Padres Triple A affiliate in El Paso, Texas. It is unclear whether this move was a trade or signing. Loney was hitting ,342 for the Padres in Triple A. He is a lifetime .303 hitter with runners in scoring position. He'll help improve the Mets hitting with men on base. This move will be a major upgrade for them at first base. Loney will platoon with Wilmer Flores and Eric Campbell will no longer be the starting first baseman,

Mets vs. Dodgers Game 47 Recap
The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight 6-5 in a thrilling win to improve their record to 28-19. They have won 2 consecutive games and are now for first place in the National League East with the Washington Nationals. RF Curtis Granderson led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off homer. This was Granderson's ninth homer of the season and his second career walk-off homer. This was his first walk-off homer since 2005 when he was on the Detroit Tigers. CF Juan Lagares had a huge game with 3 hits and 3 RBI's. He hit a 2 run single and a solo homer. Lagares has hit very well against left handed pitching. It's too bad he is not able to play every day due to the amount of outfielders on the Mets roster. He is a terrific 4th outfielder and a valuable guy off of the bench. 3B David Wright hit his 7th homer of the season. He has now homered in three consecutive games. 2B Neil Walker added an RBI double. RHP Jacob deGrom pitched a solid game giving up only one run in 7 innings. He gave up 3 hits and 3 walks. He had a season-high 7 strikeouts. He picked up a no-decision. Closer RHP Jeurys Familia gave up 4 runs in the 9th inning in a non-save situation, but he picked up his 2nd win of the season.

Mets vs. Nationals Game 46 Recap
The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals this afternoon 2-0 to improve their record to 27-19. They took 2 games out of 3 against the Nationals and are only a 1/2 game out of first place in the National League East. The Mets offense struggled and managed only 5 hits, but they got a solo homer from 3B David Wright, his sixth of the season. This was Wright's second homer of the series. His power has started to come back and he is starting to hit like we hoped he would coming into the season. Catcher Rene Rivera added an RBI single. LHP Steven Matz was outstanding once again with eight scoreless innings. He gave up only 4 hits and one walk. He had 7 strikeouts. He picked up his seventh consecutive win. He has now tied Steve Trachsel for most consecutive wins by a Met pitcher. His record is now 7-1 and his ERA is only 2.36. He has come such a long way from his first start against the Florida Marlins where he gave up 7 runs in only 1 2/3 innings. He has emerged as one of the Mets aces along with RHP Noah Syndergarrd. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless ninth and picked up his 16th save. He is still perfect on the year in save opportunities.
Matt Harvey to make next start
Mets RHP Matt Harvey will make his next scheduled start against the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Harvey was told he would pitch on Monday earlier this morning in a meeting in manager Terry Collins's office. Pitching coach Dan Warthen and assistant GM were also at the meeting. Collins said that the team noticed Harvey took some positive steps last night. One of them was his increased velocity with his fastball ranging from 95-96 mph and topping out at 97 mph. Collins and the front office also liked Harvey's command of his slider.

Mets vs. Nationals Game 45 Recap
The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals tonight 7-4 to drop their record to 26-18. They are now 1.5 games out of first place. RHP Matt Harvey struggled once again by giving up 5 runs in 5 innings. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks. 3 of those 8 hits were home runs. His record is now 3-7 and his ERA is 6.08. It's clear that Harvey hasn't been right going back to spring training. He needs to take some starts off. It might benefit him to go down to Triple A and get back to basics and work on his mechanics. It wouldn't be the first time a Major League pitcher was sent down to Triple A. Some notable ML pitchers that were sent down include CY Young Award winner Cliff Lee and former Met Steve Trachsel. It will be interesting to see what the Mets decide with Harvey after tonight's start. After Harvey was taken out, LHP Antonio Bastardo gave up a homer to Ben Revere. RHP Jim Henderson gave up a homer to Wilson Ramos in the 8th inning. The Mets offense struggled against Stephen Strasburg and struck out 11 times. 1B Eric Campbell did the most damage with 3 RBI's by a groundout and 2 run homer. SS Asdrubal Cabrera added a solo homer.

Noah Syndergarrd Named NL Player of the Week
Mets RHP Noah Syndergarrd was named National League Player of the Week for the week of May 16-22. He had a record of 2-0 and didn't allow an earned run in 14 innings as well as not giving up any walks. He had 21 strikeouts in those 14 innings. Syndergarrd has become only the fourth major leaguer to have consecutive starts without allowing an earned run or a walk while recording double-digit strikeouts. The other MLB pitchers are Nolan Ryan in 1987, Jose Fernandez in 2014 and Clayton Kershaw last year. The only other Mets pitcher to have double-digit strikeout games without a walk was Dwight Gooden in 1984. Syndergarrd has 76 strikeouts through his first 9 nine starts, which is third most in team history. The only other Mets pitcher with more strikeouts in his first 9 starts was Tom Seaver with 88 in 1970 and 77 in 1971. He has now had eight double-digit strikeout games through his first 33 career starts and is now tied with Matt Harvey for second-most by a Met in team history with 8. Dwight Gooden is first with 16 double-digit strikeout games in his first 33 starts. This is Syndergarrd's second Player of the Week Award. He also received the honor on July 27-August 2, 2015.

He now has four career starts with at least 10 strikeouts and zero walks in his first 33 starts, which ties RHP Matt Harvey for the modern MLB record. Mets vs. Nationals Game 40 Recap
The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals tonight 9-1 to lose 2 out of 3 in the series. Their record is 22-18 and they have lost 9 out of their last 13 games. They are now 2.5 games out of first place in the National League East. RHP Matt Harvey had his worst outing of the season. He gave up nine runs in only 2 2/3 inning. 6 of those runs were earned. His record is now 3-6 and his ERA is 5.77 Something is very wrong with Harvey. His velocity and location hasn't been right since spring training. He doesn't look even close to the same pitcher we saw in Game 5 of the World Series last year. It might be best to put him on the DL. This would allow him to rest him arm and clear his head. The Mets offense struggled again tonight and managed only 6 hits. The only run they scored was on an RBI single by SS Asdrubal Cabrera.
Mets vs. Nationals Game 39 Recap

Mets vs. Rockies Game 36 Recap
Last night, the New York Mets lost to the Colarado Rockies 7-4 to lose their third consecutive game. The Mets have now dropped to third place in the NL East behind the Nationals and Phillies. RHP Logan Verrett had his worst outing of the season. He gave up a season high 7 runs in only 2 2/3 innings. He gave up 10 hits and 3 walks. He had no strikeouts. Verrett was not helped by home plate umpire Carlos Torres who called a foul ball instead of a swing and miss strike 3 on Rockies catcher Tony Wolters. This led to a 2 run double with the based loaded and gave the Rockies a 5-1 lead. This bad call caused Mets manager Terry Collins to be ejected from the game and bench coach Dick Scott had to take over as manager. The offense made a valiant effort, but struggled hitting with men on base. They were 3 for 11 with runners in scoring position. Catcher Kevin Plawecki continued his torrid week with an RBI single. 2B Neil Walker hit a solo homer. 1B Lucas Duda hit an RBI double. SS Asdrubral Cabrera grounded into a double play which brought home a run. Hopefully the Mets can win today and salvage the last game of the series.
