LHP David Peterson had a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a solo homer to DH David Fry in the top of the second.
Peterson's struggles continued in the top of the third after he gave up a two-run homer to CF Angel Martinez.
Peterson had scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth and then gave up a RBI triple to SS Gabriel Arias in the top of the sixth and then Peterson was taken out after the inning.
His final line was six innings, five hits, four runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.
RHP Reed Garrett followed with a scoreless top of the seventh.
RHP Justin Hagenman threw two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth.
The Met offense was shutdown by Guardians RHP Gavin Williams who had a no-hitter through 8.1 innings.
RF Juan Soto broke up the no-hitter on a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth with one out and then after an out and walk, Williams was taken out with 126 pitches.
RHP Hunter Gaddis came in to get the last out of the game.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, August 8 at the Milwaukee Brewers at 8:10 p.m.
