The New York Mets are calling up top pitching prospect RHP Nolan McLean for Saturday's start against the Seattle Mariners. McLean will replace RHP Frankie Montas spot in the rotation.

McLean is ranked as the Mets number 3 overall prospect and had dominant in Double-A and Triple-A,

In Double-A he had a record of 3-1 with a 1.37 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 26.1 innings and in Triple-A he had a 5-4 record with a 2.78 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 87.1 innings.

In his last four starts, he has a 1.96 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 23 innings.

McLean's pitching repertoire includes a four-seam fastball that is averaged in the mid 90's and can top out at 98 mph, but his best pitch is his nasty slider sweeper in the mid 80's. He also features a change-up in the high 80s as well as a curveball that he uses rarely.

Hopefully McLean will be able to create a buzz in the Mets rotation that has been struggling to go deep into games. LHP David Peterson is the only starter in the last 52 games to go six innings or more in a single outing.
