RHP Clay Holmes cruised through the first three innings, but then ran into trouble in the top of the fourth.
Holmes gave up a lead-off single to LF Steven Kwan and then walked RF Daniel Schneemann.
Two batters later, Holmes gave up a RBI single to DH Kyle Manzardo and two batters later, Holmes gave up another RBI single to SS Gabriel Arias.
Holmes had a scoreless top of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was five innings, three hits, two runs, one walk and six strikeouts.
LHP Gregory Soto followed with a scoreless top of the sixth.
RHP Tyler Rogers came in next in the top of the seventh and retired the first two hitters he faced and then gave up back-to-back singles to 1B CJ Kayfus and 2B Brayan Rocchio and then a RBI single to Kwan.
LHP Brooks Raley threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Ryan Halsey threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
In the bottom of the first, SS Francisco Lindor walked and then advanced to second on a walk.
RF Juan Soto followed with a walk and then Lindor advanced to third on a wild pitch.
1B Pete Alonso followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Lindor.
In the bottom of the second, 3B Mark Vientos led off with a double and then 2B Jeff McNeil sacrificed Vientos over to third.
Catcher Francisco Alvarez walked and then CF Tyrone Taylor drove in Vientos with a RBI single.
Two batters later, Lindor grounded into a double play to end the inning.
In the bottom of the third and fourth, Alonso and McNeil singled but were unable to advance and score.
The Met offense went to sleep after that and 14 straight hitters were retired to end the game.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, August 5 at home against the Guardians at 1:10 p.m.
