Mets Beat Rockies 8-2 Powered By Nimmo, Soto and McNeil and Stellar Outing From Senga

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 8-2 this afternoon at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 36-22.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single and then LF Brandon Nimmo singled and RF Juan Soto walked to load the bases.

1B Pete Alonso then struck out, but then 3B Brett Baty drove in Lindor, Nimmo, and Soto with a based clearing triple.

Two batters later, CF Tyrone Taylor drove in Baty with a RBI single.

After a scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third, 2B Jeff McNeil led off in the bottom of the fourth and reached on an error by 2B Thairo Estrada and two batters later, Lindor singled.

Nimmo followed with a two-run homer and then Soto followed with a homer on the next pitch.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the bottom of the eighth after McNeil hit a solo homer.

RHP Kodai Senga gave up a one-out solo homer to SS Ezequiel Tovar in the top of the first, but also had three strikeouts in the inning.

Senga settled down after that and cruised for the next six innings and at one point, retired the next 17 hitters he faced, but then tired out in the top of the seventh.

Senga walked Tovar to lead off the inning and two batters later, walked 3B Ryan McMahon and then gave up a RBI single to Estrada and was then taken out.

RHP Jose Butto came in and picked up the last two outs to end the inning.

Senga's final line was 6.1 innings, two hits, two runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.

He picked up his sixth win and has now pitched 28 consecutive starts allowed three runs or fewer.

Butto stayed in for the top of the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Chris Devenski closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 1 at home against the Rockies at 1:40 p.m.

Mets Beat Rockies 4-2 Behind Two Solo Homers From Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 tonight at Citi Field and improved their record to 35-22.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a homer.

After a scoreless bottom of the second, Lindor singled with one out in the bottom of the third and two batters later, RF Juan Soto drove in Lindor with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the fourth, DH Starling Marte hit a solo homer with one out.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh, Lindor capped off his stellar night at the plate with another solo homer.

LHP David Peterson started out well with scoreless innings, but then ran into trouble in the top of the sixth.

Peterson retired the first two hitters he faced and then 2B Thairo Estrada and gave up a single to CF Brenton Doyle and a RBI double to 3B Ryan McMahon and was then taken out.

Peterson's final line was 5.2 innings, five hits, one run, one walk and five strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and picked up the last out in the top of the sixth.

Brazoban stayed in for the top of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to RF Sam Hillard, but was able to settle down and finish out the inning.

RHP Reed Garrett followed in the top of the eighth with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and had a dominating inning striking out the side to pick up his 12th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, May 31 at home against the Rockies at 4:10 p.m.

Mets Lost to White Sox 9-4 After Canning And Offense Have Rough Outings

The New York Mets lost to the Chicago White Sox 9-4 at Citi Field this afternoon to snap their four-game winning streak and dropped their record to 34-22.

RHP Griffin Canning got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a one-out to RF Mike Taufman and then a double to the following hitter 1B Miguel Vargas.

Canning then gave a RBI single to LF Andrew Benintendi.

Canning's struggles continued in the top of the second after he was let down by his defense after 3B Brett Baty and 2B Jeff McNeil made errors to start the inning.

Canning retired the next two hitters and then gave up a two-run double to Taufman.

Canning had another tough inning in the top of the third after he gave up a lead-off double to 2B Lenyn Sosa and then walked DH Edgar Quero.

Two batters later, Canning gave up a RBI ground-out to 3B Josh Rojas and then Canning was taken out after the inning.

Canning's final line was three innings, four hits, five runs (3 earned), four walks and three strikeouts.

LHP Brandon Waddell followed and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth, but gave up two runs in the top of the sixth on a RBI triple by Benintendi and a RBI single by Sosa.

Waddell stayed in for the top of the seventh and gave up a sacrifice fly to CF Michael Taylor.

Waddell stayed in for the top of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to Benintendi.

RHP Ryne Stanek threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the bottom of the third after LF Brandon Nimmo and RF Juan Soto walked to start the inning and three batters later, DH Mark Vientos came through with a three-run homer.

The offense did not do much for the next five innings until the bottom of the ninth after Nimmo walked with one out and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso drove in Nimmo with a RBI double.

Baty followed with a walk and then Vientos struck out to end the game.

The Mets offense's struggles with men on base continued after they went 2-12 with runners in scoring position leaving 11 runners on base.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, May 30 at home against the Rockiest at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat White Sox 6-4 Powered By Alonso and Young

The New York Mets beat the Chicago White Sox 6-4 at Citi Field tonight for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 34-21.

The Met offense got off to a a fast start in the bottom of the first after LF Brandon Nimmo reached on an infield hit with one out and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso drove in Nimmo with a two-run homer.

3B Brett Baty followed with a single and then DH Jarred Young hit a two-run homer.

After a scoreless bottom of the second, Baty singled to lead off the bottom of the third and Young followed with a double.

Two batters later, CF Jeff McNeil drove in Baty with a sacrifice fly.

The Met offense did not do much for the next four innings, but then came alive again in the bottom of the eighth.

McNeil singled with two outs and then was taken out for pinch-runner Luisangel Acuna.

Catcher Francisco Alvarez followed with a single to advance Acuna to third and then SS Francisco Lindor drove in a much needed insurance run with a RBI single.

RHP Tylor Megill got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a two-run homer to 1B Miguel Vargas.

Megill was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the second, third, fourth and fifth.

He picked up the first two outs in the top of the sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was 5.2 innings, four hits, two runs, four walks and six strikeouts.

He picked up his fourth win.

RHP Jose Butto came in next and worked out of a based loaded jam.

Butto came back out for the top of the seventh and gave up two singles and then a run on a passed ball and a RBI double to Vargas and was then taken out.

LHP Jose Castillo followed and escaped out of a based loaded jam.

Castillo stayed in for the top of the eighth and picked out one out and was then taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett came on and picked up the last five outs for his second save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, May 28 at home against the White Sox at 1:10 p.m.

Mets Beat White 2-1 on Lindor Walk-off Sacrifice Fly With Late Inning Rally

The New York Mets beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 this afternoon at Citi Field for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 33-21.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first seven innings with three innings, but then broke through in the bottom of the eighth.

Catcher Francisco Alvarez led off with a single and was then taken out for pinch-hitter Luisangel Acuna.

SS Francisco Lindor followed with a strikeout, but then LF Brandon Nimmo singled to advance Acuna to third.

RF Juan Soto came up next and delivered game-tying sacrifice fly to score Acuna.

In the bottom of the ninth, CF Tyrone Taylor led off with a double and 2B Jeff McNeil followed with an infield hit.

Catcher Luis Torrens then singled to load the bases and Lindor came up and delivered walk-off sacrifice fly to right field to score Taylor.

RHP Clay Holmes cruised through the first three innings, but then ran into some trouble in the top of the fourth.

Holmes walked RF Mike Tauchman and then gave up a double to 1B Miguel Vargas.

Holmes gave up a sacrifice fly to the next hitter DH Andrew Benintendi.

Holmes was able to keep the game tied and had a scoreless top of the fifth.

He picked up the first two outs in the top of the sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was 5.2 innings, four hits, one run, three walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Jose Butto came in next and picked up the last out in the top of the sixth with the based loaded and came back out for the top of the seventh and was taken out after a one-out walk.

RHP Huascar Brazoban followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

Mets Beat Dodgers 3-1 Powered By Alonso To Take Series

The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 tonight at Citi Field to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 32-21.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after RF Juan Soto reached on an error by two outs and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer.

After a scoreless bottom of the second, SS Francisco Lindor led off the top of the third with a single and then 3B Mark Vientos reached on an infield single and Lindor reached third on an error.

RF Juan Soto followed with a RBI ground-out.

RHP Kodai Senga had a rocky start in the top of the first after he gave up a lead-off homer to DH Shohei Ohtani and then SS Mookie Betts reached on an error by 3B Mark Vientos.

Senga then gave up a double to 1B Freddie Freeman, but was helped out by his defense after CF Tyrone Taylor made an remarkable throw on a fly-out by catcher Will Smith to throw Betts out at home.

Senga then struck out RF Teoscar Hernandez to end the inning.

Senga was able to settle down after that with 1-2-3 innings in the top of the second and third, and got a key double play in the top of the fourth and worked around a double and walk.

He worked out of a based loaded jam in the top of the fifth after catcher Will Smith grounded out to third with two outs.

Senga struck out Hernandez to start off the top of the sixth and walked 3B Max Muncy and was then taken out.

Senga's final line was 5.1 innings, five hits, one run, four walks and five strikeouts.

He picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 1.46.

RHP Ryne Stanek came in next and got CF Andy Pages to ground into a double play.

RHP Max Kranick followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

RHP Reed Garrett closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth to pick up his first save.

Mets Beat Dodgers 5-2 Led By Soto, Baty and Peterson

The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 tonight at Citi Field and improved their record to 31-21.

After a scoreless bottom of the first, DH Jared Young was hit by a pitch with two outs in the bottom of the second and then catcher Luis Torrens followed with a single.

3B Brett Baty then came through with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, Torrens led off with a single and three batters later, Baty walked.

SS Francisco Lindor followed with a walk to load the bases and then LF Starling Marte reached on an infield hit to bring home the tying run.

RF Juan Soto came up and delivered a much needed clutch hit with a two-run double.

In the bottom of the eighth, Torrens led off with another single and then DH Mark Vientos followed with a hit by pitch,

Two batters later, Baty capped off his stellar night at the plate with a RBI double for his third hit and second RBI.

LHP David Peterson had a scoreless top of the first and then gave up two runs in the top of the second on a RBI single by 3B Kiki Hernandez and a RBI groudd-out by catcher Dalton Rushing.

Peterson was able to settle down after that and had a stellar outing allowing two runs on five hits in 7.2 innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.

He was able to escape out of several jobs by inducing four double play groundouts which helped him give some much needed length to a tired bullpen after a 13 inning game last night.

Peterson had sharp command of his slider and change-up.

He picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 2.79.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the eighth with two outs and struck out SS Mookie Betts to end the inning and then started out the top of the ninth striking out RF Tesoscar Hernandez and 1B Freddie Freeman and then retired LF Andy Pages on a ground-out to close out the game.

Diaz picked up his 11th save on the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Sunday, May 25 at home against the Dodgers on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Dodgers 7-5 in 13 Innings After Late Inning Rally Comes Up Short

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-5 tonight in 13 innings at Citi Field and dropped their record to 30-21.

RHP Griffin Canning started out well with two scoreless innings, but had to come out of the game after a 98 minute rain delay in the top of the third.

RHP Max Kranick followed and gave up a RBI single to catcher Will Smith and a two-run single to RF Teosccar Hernandez.

Kranack stayed in for the top of the fourth and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Jose Butto followed and gave up two runs in the top of the fifth and was then taken out.

LHP Jose Castillo, RHP Ryne Stanek and LHP Genesis Cabrera all followed and combined for 4.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the 10th.

RHP Reed Garrett threw two scoreless innings in the top of the 11th and 12th.

RHP Huascar Brazoban gave up two runs in the top of the third.

3B Brett Baty drove in the Mets first run of the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the third.

1B Pete Alonso drove in another run in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly.

The Met offense rallied in the bottom of the ninth after DH Starling Marte led off with a single and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso walked.

2B Jeff McNeil then drove in two runs with a two-run triple and CF Tyrone Taylor tied the game with a a RBI single.

Two batters later, Baty singled and then 2B Lusisangel Acuna came up with the based loaded and two outs, but struck out to move the game to the 10th.

After a scoreless bottom of the tenth, Acuna came up with the based loaded and two outs again in the bottom of the 11th, but once again failed to come though after he grounded out to third.

In the bottom of the 12th, catcher Luis Torrens grounded into a double play to end the threat and in the bottom of the 13th, the Met offense went down 1-2-3.

The Met offense's struggles with men on base continued after they went 2-14 with runners in scoring position leaving 12 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Saturday, May 24 at home against the Dodgers at 7:15 p.m. on Fox.

Mets Beat Red Sox 5-1 Behind 3 RBI From Baty

The New York Mets beat the Boston Red Sox 5-1 tonight at Fenway Park to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 30-20.

After a scoreless top of the first, 3B Mark Vientos walked to lead off the top of the second and catcher Luis Torrens followed with a double.

Three batters later, 3B Brett Baty came through with a RBI single to Vientos, but Torrens was thrown out at home.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next four innings, but then came through in the top of the seventh.

Torrens led off with a single and CF Tyrone Taylor followed with a single.

2B Luisangel Acuna then reached on an infield hit to load the bases and Baty followed by delivering once again with a two-run single.

SS Francisco Lindor then grounded into a fielder's choice and stole second.

LF Starling Marte next drew a walk to load the bases and RF Juan Soto delivered with a sacrifice fly.

 In the top of the ninth, Lindor drove in a key insurance run with a solo homer.

RHP Tylor Megill dominated through the first four innings with nine strikeouts, but then ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth.

Megill gave up two infield hits and a hit by pitch and then allowed a sacrifice fly to LF Jarren Duran.

Megill then walked DH Rafael Devers to load the bases and was then taken out.

Megill's final line was 4.2 innings, four hits, one run, one walk and 10 strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and picked up the biggest out of the game after he struck out 3B Alex Bregman.

Brazoban stayed in the game and had a dominating outing throwing 2.1 scoreless innings with one hit and no walks with four strikeouts.

Brazoban picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 0.90.

RHP Reed Garrett followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a bottom of the ninth.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, May 23 at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Shutout By Red Sox 2-0 As Offense Continues To Struggle

The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox 2-0 tonight at Fenway Park for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 29-20.

RHP Clay Holmes worked his way out of a jam in the bottom of the first after he gave up back-to-back walks and then had scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third, and fourth.

However, in the bottom of the fifth, Holmes's shutout came to an inning after he gave up solo homers to catcher Carlos Narvaez and DH Rafael Devers.

Holmes had a scoreless bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, four hits, two runs, three walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Max Kranick followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth.

The Met offense did nothing all night managing only four hits.

They went 0-7 with runners in scoring position leaving seven runners on base.

Mets Lose To Red Sox 3-1 After Struggles With Men On Base Continue

The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox 3-1 tonight at Fenway Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 29-19.

RHP Kodai Senga got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to LF Jarren Duran and then walked DH Rafael Devers.

Senga then threw a a wild pitch and gave up a RBI ground-out to 3B Alex Bregman.

Two batters later, Senga gave up an infield hit to SS Trevor Story.

Senga's troubles continued in the bottom of the second after he gave up a one-out to catcher Carlos Navaez and two batters later, a RBI triple to Duran.

Senga was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third, fourth and fifth and had a-1-2-3 bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, five hits, three runs, three walks and five strikeouts.

LHP Jose Castilo followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Jose Butto threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense drove in their only run of the game in the top of the third after catcher Francisco Alvarez led off with a double, CF Jeff McNeil grounded out to 1B and then CF Tyrone Taylor drove in Alvarez with a RBI single.

The offense was unable to score any more runs after that wasting several scoring opportunities.

They grounded into three double plays, went 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left six runners left on base.

Mets Lose To Yankees 8-2 With Sloppy Defense and Poor Hitting And Allow Six Runs in Eighth

The New York Mets lost to the New York Yankees 8-2 tonight at Yankee Stadium to lose two out of three games in the first round of the Subway Series and dropped their record to 29-18.

LHP David Peterson was let down by his defense in the bottom of the first after 3B Mark Vientos made an error to allow 1B Paul Goldschmidt to reach base and then two batters later, gave up a double to RF Aaron Judge.

Peterson then gave up a two-run double to LF Cody Bellinger.

Peterson was able to settle down after the first and did not allow any more runs and was taken out after the sixth.

His final line was six innings, three hits, two runs (1 earned), four walks and four strikeouts.

Peterson lowered his ERA from 3.05 to 2.86.

RHP Huascar Brazoban followed in the bottom of the seventh and was able to work his way out of a based loaded jam.

RHP Ryne Stanek came on in the bottom of the eighth and got into immediate trouble after he walked the lead-off hitter DH Jason Dominiguez,

Two batters later, Stanek gave up a double to catcher Austin Wells and was then let down by the Met defense as well after 1B Pete Alonso made a costly error while trying to throw out Dominguez at home.

Stanek then gave up a RBI single to Goldschmidt and was then taken out.

LHP Genesis Cabrera followed and walked CF Trent Grisham to load the bases and after striking out RF Aaron Judge, gave up a grand slam to Bellinger which put the game out of reach.

The Met offense got on the board in the top of the second after 3B Mark Vientos led off with an infield hit and LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a walk.

Three batters later, CF Jeff McNeil came through with a RBI single.

In the top of the fifth, McNeil led off with a walk and then 2B Luisangel Acuna followed with a sacrifice bunt.

SS Francisco Lindor then grounded out to second which allowed McNeil to advance to third and then McNeil scored on a wild pitch.

The Met offense was unable to score any more runs after that and struggled with men on base going 1-7 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, May 20 at the Boston Red Sox at 6:45 p.m.

Mets Beat Yankees 3-2 On Lindor Game-Winning Sacrifice Fly and Strong Bullpen

The New York Mets beat the New York Yankees 3-2 this afternoon at Yankee Stadium to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 29-17.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings against RHP Clarke Schmidt, but then came alive in the top of the fourth.

SS Francisco Lindor led off a walk and RF Juan Soto followed with a single.

1B Pete Alonso then drove in Lindor with a RBI single.

LF Brandon Nimmo struck out next, but Soto was able to third.

3B Mark Vientos followed with a sacrifice fly to score Soto.

The Met offense was unable to score for the next four innings and wasting an opportunity in the top of the seventh after 3B Brett Baty was thrown out at home, but then broke through in the top of the ninth.

Catcher Luis Torrens walked with one out and was taken out for pinch-runner Luisangel Acuna.

Baty then reached on an infield hit and CF Tyrone Taylor was hit a pitch to load the bases.

Lindor came up next and drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Griffin Canning cruised through the first two innings and then gave up a solo homer to 3B D.J. LeMahieu in the bottom of the third.

Canning had scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was taken out in the bottom of the sixth with one out after allowing a solo homer to CF Cody Bellinger.

Canning's final line was 5.1 innings, seven hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban followed and did a fine job with 1.2 scoreless innings.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next and worked out a difficult bottom of the eighth with three walks and a double after he got a double play and a hard lineout to Soto to end the inning and keep the game tied.

Garrett picked up his first win.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and had a stellar 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts including striking out superstar RF Aaron Judge on a 99 mph blazing fastball upstairs in the zone for the final out to pick up his 10th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Sunday, May 18 at the Yankees at 7:10 p.m. on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

Mets Lose to Yankees 6-2 After Megilll, Defense And Offense Struggle

The New York Mets lost to the New York Yankees 6-2 tonight at Yankee Stadium for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 28-17.

RHP Tylor Megill started out well with two scoreless innings, but then it all unraveled in the bottom of the third.

Megill gave up a lead-off single to 2B Jorbit Vivas and two batters later, walked RF Aaron Judge.

Megill then gave up an infield hit to LF Cody Bellinger to load the bases 

The next hitter 1B Paul Goldschmidt hit a grounder to SS Francisco Lindor that Lindor threw past 1B Pete Alonso which allowed Judge and Vivas to score.

Megill then walked DH Jason Dominguez and gave up a sacrifice fly to SS Anthony Volpe.

Megill then walked catcher Austin Wells and 3B Oswalt Peraza with the based loaded to bring in another run and was then taken out.

Megill's final line was 2.2 innings, four hits, four runs, five walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Max Kranick came on to get the last out in the bottom of third.

Kranick stayed in for the bottom of the fourth and gave up two runs on a RBI single by Goldschmidr and a RBI ground-out to Dominguez.

Kranick stayed in for the bottom of the fifth and threw a scoreless inning and then taken out.

RHP Jose Butto followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Dedniel Nunez threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense had their best scoring opportunity in the top of the fourth after RF Juan Soto led off with a walk and two batters later, 3B Mark Vientos singled.

LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a RBI single.

Two batters later, catcher Francisco Alvarez walked to load the bases, but then 2B Luisangel Acuna  flew out to right to end the threat.

The offense did not do much else until the top of the ninth after Alvarez walked with one out and two batters later, pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil walked.

SS Francisco Lindor followed with a RBI double, but RF Juan Soto flew out to centerfield to end the game.

The Met offense struggled all night with men on base going 2-11 with runners in scoring position leaving nine runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, May 17 at the Yankees at 1:05 p.m.

Mets Lose to Pirates 4-0 After Holmes Allows Two Homers And Offense Shutdown

The New York Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 tonight at Citi Field to snap their three-game winning streak and dropped their record to 28-16.

RHP Clay Holmes started out well with a scoreless top of the first, but then gave up a two-run homer to two-run homer to 1B Matt Gorski in the top of the second.

Holmes had scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth and fifth, but then gave up another two-run homer this time to 3B Jared Triolo in the top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

Holmes' final line was six innings, seven hits, four runs, one run and four strikeouts.

LHP Genesis Cabrera followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

RHP Dedniel Nunez came in next and threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense did not do much all night with only six singles.

They wasted numerous scoring opportunities going 0-4 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, May 16 in their first Subway Series game of the season at the Yankees at 7:05 p.m.

Mets Beat Pirates 2-1 Behind Strong Outing From Senga and Baty Homer

The New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 28-15.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after RF Juan Soto singled and stole second with one out and two batters later,  LF Brandon Nimmo drove in Soto with a RBI double.

The offense did not do much for the next five innings until the bottom of the seventh after 3B Brett Baty hit the game-winning homer to the opposite field.

RHP Kodai Senga had a 1-2-3 top of the first and worked around a one-one triple in the top of the second to escape with no runs.

Senga got into jam in the top of the third after he gave up a single and double with one out, but then came back with a strikeout and ground-out.

Senga worked out of another jam in the top of the fourth after he gave up a walk and single, but came back to strike out the next three hitters.

Senga escaped out of trouble once again in the top of the fifth after he worked around a one-out walk.

He retired the first two hitters he faced in the top of the sixth, but then gave up a single to LF Alexander Canario and a double to 1B Jared Triolo and was taken out after that.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next and got into immediate trouble after he walked CF Ji Hwan Bae and then walked catcher Henry Davis to bring in a run.

Senga's final line was 5.2 innings, six hits, one run, two walks and seven strikeouts.

Garrett came back to get out of an inning, but inducing a weak grounder.

RHP Max Kranick followed with a scoreless top of the seventh. Kranick picked up his third win.

RHP Ryne Stanek came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth with two strikeouts.

RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth to pick up his ninth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 14 at home against the Pirates at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Pirates 4-3 on Pete Alonso walk-off sacrifice fly

The New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 27-15.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings against last year's NL Rookie of the Year RHP Paul Skenes until the bottom of the fourth after LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double and two batters later, CF Jeff McNeil drove in Nimmo with a RBI double.

The offense did not do much for the next three innings until the bottom of the seventh after pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor led off by a hit by pitch and stole second and then 2B Luisangel Acuna reached on an infield single.

Two batters later, RF Juan Soto hit a RBI ground-out to score Taylor and then 1B Pete Alonso reached on an infield hit which brought home a run.

In the bottom of the ninth, SS Francisco Lindoe reached on an error by SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa with one out and then Soto followed with a single.

Alonso came up next and drove in winning run with walk-off sacrifice fly.

LHP David Peterson had a scoreless top of the second and then gave up a solo homer to Kiner-Falefa in the top of the second.

Peterson settled down after that and one point retiring the next 10 hitters he faced and went into the top of the seventh and was taken out.

RHP Jose Butto came in next and gave up a RBI ground-out to RF Bryan Reynolds.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed with a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came on in the top of the ninth and got into immediate trouble after he gave up a lead-off single and then was let down by his defense after Lindor botched a routine double play, but was able to settle down after that. Brazoban got an inning ending double play to keep the game tied and he picked up his second win of the season.

Mets Beat Cubs 6-2 Behind Four Run Eighth Inning

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 6-2 at Citi Field this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 26-15.

After a scoreless bottom of the first, DH Starling Marte was hit by a pitch with two outs in the bottom of the second and then catcher Luis Torrens followed with a RBI triple.

The Met offense did not do much for the next three innings until 3B Mark Vientos hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth.

After a scoreless bottom of the seventh, SS Francisco Lindor led off the bottom of the eighth with a go-ahead homer and then two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso doubled.

Vientos followed with a RBI single and then LF Brandon Nimmo broke the game open with a two-run homer.

RHP Griffin Cannig cruised through the first five innings, but then gave up a solo homer to CF Pete-Crow Armstrong in the top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

Canning's final line was six innings, two hits, one run, one walk and five strikeouts.

He lowered his ERA to 2.36.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next in the top of the seventh and was hurt by a lead-off walk and later in the inning, gave up a RBI double to 2B Nico Hoerner, but was able to keep the game tied.

RHP Ryne Stanek followed and threw a scoreless top of the eighth to pick up his first win.

RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a 1-2-3 top of the ninth.

Mets Lose to Cubs 6-5 Wasting Opportunities With Men on Base

The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 6-5 tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record to 25-15.

RHP Tylor Megill got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a lead-off single to CF Pete Crow-Armstrong who then stole second and reached third on a throwing error by catcher Francisco Alvarez.

Megill then walked RF Kyle Tucker and gave up a RBI single to LF Seiya Suzuki.

Later in the inning, Megill gave up an infield hit to SS Dansby Swanson which brought home a run.

Megill had a scoreless top of the second and then gave up a RBI single to 1B Michael Busch in the top of the third.

Megill's struggles continued in the top of the fourth after he gave up a solo homer to Swanson and was taken out with two outs in the top of the fifth.

His final line was 4.2 innings, seven hits, four runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban followed with 1.2 scoreless innings.

LHP Genesis Cabrera got the last two outs in the top of the seventh.

Mets Beat the Cubs 7-2 Powered By Four Homers

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 7-2 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 25-14.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a homer.

In the bottom of the second, the offense outburst continued after 3B Brett Baty led off with a solo homer and two batters later, DH Jeff McNeil homered.

In the bottom of the third, LF Brandon Nimmo walked with one out and then catcher Francisco Alvarez and Baty reached on infield hits to load the bases.

2B Luisangel Acuna then grounded out to SS Dwansby Swanson, but Swanson botched a routine double play and made a poor throw over first base, which allowed Nimmo and Alvarez to score.

In the bottom of the fourth, RF Juan Soto hit a solo homer for his eighth homer of the season and third this week.

The offense did not do much for the next three innings until the bottom of the eighth after Lindor reached on an infield single with two outs and then stole second and Soto followed with a RBI single for his second RBI of the game.

RHP Clay Holmes had a terrific start outside of a solo homer by RF Kyle Tucker in the top of the fourth.

Holmes allowed one run on three hits in six innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

He had outstanding command of his sinker which helped him pick up a lot of groundouts.

Holmes picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 2.74.

RHP Ryne Stanek followed with a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Dedniel Nunez came in next in the top of the eighth and had two strikeouts, but also gave up two walks and was then taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett came on and retired DH Seiya Suzuki on a fly-out to end the inning.

RHP Jose Butto followed in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off homer to 1B Michael Bush, but then recovered to strike out the next three hitters to close out the game.

Mets Beat Diamondbacks 7-1 Powered By Two Solo Homers To Take Series

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1 this afternoon at Chase Field to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 24-14.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the five innings against RHP Merrill Kelly until the top of the sixth after RF Juan Soto hit a solo homer.

In the top of the seventh, catcher Luis Torrens led off with a double and then 3B Brett Baty grounded back to the pitcher and Torrens advanced to third.

2B Luis Acuna followed with a RBI single and then stole second.

LF Jeff McNeil followed with a RBI triple.

In the top of the eighth, Soto led off with another homer for his second homer of the game.

In the top of the ninth, pinch-hitter Jose Azocar walked with one out and stole second and then CF Tyrone Taylor followed with a walk.

SS Franscisco Lindor came up next and broke the game open with a two-run double and advanced to third on fielder's indifference.

Soto followed with a sacrifice fly for his third RBI of the game.

RHP Kodai Senga did not his best stuff and struggled with his command walking five out of the first 10 hitters he faced. However, his defense bailed him out after Torrens threw out RF Corbin Carroll trying to steal second in the bottom of the first and Taylor and Lindor threw out CF Alex Thomas at home on a perfectly executed relay throw in the bottom of the second.

Senga walked the first two hitters he faced in the bottom of the third, but was helped out after a poor bunt attempt and double play.

He settled down after that with a 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth and fifth and had a scoreless bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

Senga's final line was six innings, two hits, 0 runs, five walks and four strikeouts.

He picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 1.16.

RHP Max Kranick followed and had a scoreless bottom of the seventh and came back out for the bottom of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to Carroll and was then taken out.

RHP Huascar had to come in and picked up the last two outs in the bottom of the eighth.

RHP Ryne Stanek closed it out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back home on Friday, May 9 against the Chicago Cubs at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose To Diamondbacks 5-1 And Struggle Against Zac Gallen

The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 tonight at Chase Field and dropped their record to 23-14.

LHP David Peterson started out well with three scoreless innings, but then ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth after 3B Mark Vientos made an error and after a walk and passed ball, gave up a RBI ground-out to 1B Josh Naylor.

Later in the inning, Peterson gave up a RBI ground-out to SS Geraldo Perdamo.

Peterson had a scoreless bottom of the fifth, but his trouble continued in the bottom of the sixth after he gave up a two-run homer to LF Lourdes Gurriel Jr and was taken out after the inning.

Peterson's final line was six innings, five hits, four runs, four walks and eight strikeouts.

RHP Jose Butto came on in the bottom of the seventh and gave up an unearned run after CF Tyrone Taylor made an error.

Butto stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and had a scoreless inning.

The Met offense did not do much outside of the top of the third after SS Francisco Alvarez singled with one out and then SS Francisco Lindor and RF Juan Soto walked to load the bases.

1B Pete Alonso came up next and also walked to bring in the run.

The offense did not do much after that and was stymied by RHP Zac Gallen who allowed one run on two hits.

They went 0-3 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, May 7 at the Diamondbacks at 3:40 p.m.

Mets Hang On To Beat Diamondbacks 5-4 Powered By Alonso and Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 tonight at Chase Field to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 23-13.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the top of the fourth after RF Juan Soto led off with a walk and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer.

The offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the top of the seventh after catcher Francisco Alvarez led off with an infield hit and two batters later, CF Tyrone Taylor doubled.

SS Francisco Lindor followed with a three-run homer.

RHP Griffin Canning got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off homer to RF Corbin Carroll, but settled down after that.

Canning worked around trouble in the first and second and then had a 1-2-3 third.

He gave up a single in the bottom of the fourth and then back-to-back singles in the bottom of the fifth, but did not allow any runs.

Canning gave up a lead-off walk to DH Pavin Smith to lead off the bottom of the sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was 5.0 innings, six hits, one run, one walk and eight strikeouts.

Canning is the first Met pitcher since Zack Wheeler in 2018 to win five consecutive starts and lowered his ERA to 2.50.

RHP Huascar Brazoban followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Dedniel Nunez came on in the bottom of the eighth in his season debut and had a difficult time walking all three batters he faced before being taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett followed and gave up three runs, but was able to keep the lead.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning to pick up his eighth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 6 at the Arizona Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m.

Mets Lose to Cardinals 5-4 To Get Swept In Doubleheader and Megill and Offense Struggle

The New York Mets lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 tonight at Busch Stadium to get swept in the day-night doubleheader and lose two out of three games in the series to drop their record to 22-13.

RHP Tylor Megill had a scoreless bottom of the first, but then gave up a two-run homer to 1B Alec Burleson in the bottom of the second.

Megill's struggles continued in the bottom of the third after he walked LF Lars Nootbar and SS Masyn Wynn. Later in the inning, Megill gave up an infield hit to 3B Nolan Arenado that 3B Mark Vientos was not able to field cleanly which brought home a run and then 1B Wilson Contreras hit a RBI single to tie the game.

Megill finished up strongly with scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the bottom of the fifth.

His final line was five innings, four runs, three walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Max Kranick came on in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a one-out single to catcher Yohel Pozo and two batters later, a RBI double to CF Victor Scott II.

RHP Ryne Stanek followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, but then came alive in the top of the third.

CF Tyrone Taylor led off with a single and SS Francisco Lindor followed with a single.

Two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso came through with a RBI single and Vientos followed with a walk to load the bases.

Two batters later, RF Starling Marte came through with a two-run single and catcher Francisco Alvarez followed with a RBI single.

The offense was unable to score any more runs after the fourth wasting several scoring opportunities.

They went 3-11 with runners in scoring position leaving 10 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, May 5 at the Arizona Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m.

Mets Lose To Cardinals 6-5 After Late Inning Rally Comes Up Short

The New York Mets lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5 this afternoon at Busch Stadium in the first game of a doubleheader and dropped their record to 22-12.

RHP Blade Tidwell made his ML debut and started out well with a scoreless bottom of the first, but then struggled after that.

Tidwell gave up a solo homer to 1B Wilson Contreras in the bottom of the second and a RBI ground-out in the bottom of the third.

Tidwell allowed four more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run single to LF Brendan Donovan and later in the inning a two-run single to Contreras and was taken out with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.

His final line was 3.2 innings, six runs, nine hits, two walks, three strikeouts and a hit by pitch.

Tidwell showed off his 98 mph fastball and sharp breaking ball, but struggled with command.

LHP Genesis Cabrera followed with 2 scoreless innings.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and got the last out in the bottom of the sixth.

RHP Austin Warren threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after LF Brandon Nimmo doubled with one out and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI double.

In the top of the third, RF Juan Soto led off with a single and Alonso followed with another double.

Two batters later, DH Jesse Winker drove in Soto with a sacrifice fly. Winker left in the game in the fourth inning with right side discomfort.

In the top of the sixth, 2B Jeff McNeil led off with a walk and 3B Luisangel Acuna followed with a single.

Two batters later, SS Francisco grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run, but then Soto struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the eighth, catcher Luis Torrens led off with a walk and two batters later, Acuna singled.

Pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor then singled and Lindor delivered with a two-run single,

Soto followed with a walk to load the bases with one out, but then Alonso struck out on a close pitch and Nimmo popped out to end the threat.

The offense struggled all game with men on base going 3-15 with runners in scoring position leaving 12 runners on base.

The Mets have another game coming up later tonight in Game 2 of the doubleheader at the Cardinals at 6:15 p.m.

Mets Beat Cardinals 9-3 Powered By Alonso and Nimmo

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-3 tonight at Busch Stadium to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 22-11.

After a scoreless top of the first, LF Brandon Nimmo walked to lead off the top of the second and DH Jesse Winker and 3B Mark Vientos followed with singles to load the bases.

CF Jeff McNeil and catcher Francisco Alvarez then both grounded into fielder's choices to bring home two runs.

After scoreless innings in the top of the third and fourth, RF Juan Soto doubled with one out in the top of the fifth and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a go-ahead two-run homer. 

Nimmo and Winker followed with singles and then Vientos grounded out, but 1B Wilson Contreras dropped a routine double play grounder which allowed Nimmo to score.

McNeil followed with a single and Alvarez followed with a RBI single to score Vientos.

In the top of the seventh, Nimmo led off with a homer.

Three batters later, CF Tyrone Taylor doubled and Alvarez followed with another RBI single.

In the top of the ninth, Taylor was hit by a pitch with one out, Alvarez followed with a single and then 2B Luisangel Acuna drove in Taylor with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Clay Holmes got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to RF Lars Nootbarr who then stole third and scored on an infield hit by SS Masyn Winn.

Holmes had a scoreless bottom of the second and then in the bottom of the third, gave up a leadoff single to CF Victor Scott II who then advanced to second on a ground-out, stole third and scored on a throwing error by Alvarez.

Later in the inning, Holmes gave up a RBI single to 1B Wilson Contreras.

Holmes was able to settle down after that with consecutive 1-2-3 innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and retired eight straight hitters going into the sixth.

His final line was six innings, three runs, 0 walks and three strikeouts.

He picked up his fourth win.

RHP Jose Butto followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth.

RHP Ryne Stanek closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth,

Mets Lose to Diamondbacks 4-2 wasting two homers from Juan Soto

The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 this afternoon at Citi Field to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 21-11.

RHP Kodai Senga started out well with three scoreless innings working out of a based loaded jam in the top of the third and then ran into trouble in the top of the fourth.

Senga gave up a lead-off walk and then a single and two batters later, a RBI single to CF Alex Thomas.

Senga was taken out after the fourth due to a high pitch count of 87 pitches.

RHP Genesis Cabrera came in next in the top of the fifth and gave up a sacrifice fly to 3B Eugenio Suarez.

RHP Max Kranick came in next and had a scoreless top of the sixth and then gave up a solo homer to SS Gerarldo Perdamo in the top of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett followed and had a scoreless top of the eighth, but then came back for the top of the ninth and gave up a solo homer to 2B Tim Tawa.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until the bottom of the sixth after RF Juan Soto hit a solo homer for his first homer at home.

In the bottom of the eighth, Soto came through once again with his second solo homer and then had a chance to tie or take the lead after that, but then 3B Mark Vientos and LF Brandon Nimmo struck out with runners on first and second with one out.

The Met offense's struggles with men on base continued after they went 0-2 with runners in scoring position leaving seven runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 2 at the St. Louis Cardinals at 8:15 p.m.
