RHP Luke Weaver threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
RHP Devin Williams came on in the bottom of the ninth and got into immediate trouble after he gave up a lead-off double to DH Christopher Morel.
After a sacrifice bunt, Williams walked catcher Liam Hicks and 2B Xavier Edwards intentionally to load the bases. Williams then gave up a walk-off grand slam to the following hitter LF Heriberto Hernandez.
The Mets offense was without LF Juan Soto due to an illness and his absence was greatly missed. They had multiple scoring chances but were unable to come up with any timely hits. They went 0-8 with runners in scoring position leaving 10 runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Monday, May 25 back at home at Citi Field against the Cincinnati Reds at 4:10 p.m.
