Mets Rout Marlins 10-1 To Complete Sweep Powered By Soto Grand Slam

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 10-1 this afternoon at Citi Field to complete the three-game sweep and fourth consecutive win overall to improve their record to 26-33.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after RF Carson Benge led off with a homer.

In the bottom of the second, 1B Mark Vientos singled to lead off the inning and three batters later, 2B Marcus Semien delivered with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, CF A.J. Ewing walked with two outs and 3B Brett Bay followed with a single. Semien followed with a walk to load the bases and then catcher Luis Torrens came up next and delivered a two-run single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Semien walked with two outs and then Torrens was hit by a pitch and Benge walked to load the bases. SS Bo Bichette came up next and brought in a run on a based loaded walk.

LF Juan Soto came up next and broke the game open with a grand slam.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean did not have his best stuff but managed to allow only one run on five hits in five innings. He gave up five walks with two strikeouts.

He picked up his third win.

LHP David Peterson followed and closed it out with four scoreless innings. He gave up one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. Peterson picked up his first save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, June 1 for the beginning of a six-game west coast trip at the Seattle Mariners at 9:40 p.m.
