The New York Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 tonight at Citi Field to snap their five-game losing streak and improved their record to 23-33.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after LF Juan Soto hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the second, DH Eric Wagaman who was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins last month also hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the fifth, 3B Brett Baty reached on an error by SS Ella De La Cruz with two outs and catcher Luis Torrens followed with a single.

RF Carson Benge followed with a RBI single to score Baty,

In the bottom of the eighth, pinch-hitter Jared Young led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Three batters later, Benge delivered once again with another RBI single to bring in another much needed insurance run.

Mets RHP Huascar Brazoban got the start as an "opener" and threw a scoreless top of the first,

RHP Jonah Tong followed in the top of the second as a bulk reliever and did a fine job allowing one unearned run on three hits in 3.2 innings. He gave up four walks with one strikeout. Tong picked up his second win of the season.

RHP Tobas Myers came in next with two outs in the top of the fifth and picked up last out in the inning. Myers stayed in for the top of the sixth and gave up a double and single and picked up one out in the inning and was then taken out.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and gave up an infield hit to 3B Sal Stewart to score a run, but retired DH Eugenio Suarez on a fly-out to end the inning and preserve the lead.

Raley stayed in for the top of the seventh and retired the first two hitters he faced and walked catcher Tyler Stephenson and was then taken out.

RHP Luke Weaver followed and picked up last out in the top of the seventh and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Devin Williams came on in the top of the ninth and had a rocky start walking the first two hitters he faced and after a strikeout, gave up another walk to load the bases with one out.

Williams came back to strike out pinch-hitter Dane Myers and RF Blake Dunn for the last two outs to close out the game and pick up his eighth save.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, May 29 at home against the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
