The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings against RHP Zach Davies, but came alive in the top of the fourth
SS Francisco Lindor walked with one out and two batters later 2B Jeff McNeil reached on an infield single.
RF Starling Marte followed and broke out of his slump with a three-run homer.
In the top of the fifth with two outs, CF Brandon Nimmo hit a solo homer.
After a scoreless top of the sixth, DH Daniel Vogelbach walked with one out in the top of the seventh and then catcher Francisco Alvarez came up and hit a towering two-run homer to centerfield that went 467 feet with an exit velocity of 110 miles per hour off the bat.
In the top of the eighth, Lindor led off with a hit by pitch and two batters later, McNeil walked.
Lindor and McNeil then stole second and third and pitch-hitter D.J. Stewart drove in Lindor with a sacrifice fly.
In the top of the ninth, 3B Brett Baty led off with a single and then stole second.
Three batters later, Lindor capped off the scoring with a RBI single to bring in a much needed insurance run.
RHP Max Scherzer gave up a solo homer to LF Corbin Carroll in the bottom of the first, and then had scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third.
Scherzer gave up two more solo homers in the bottom of the fourth to 1B Christian Walker and DH Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
In the bottom of the fifth, Scherzer allowed another run on a bases loaded walk but came back to strike out Walker with the bases loaded to keep the game tied.
Scherzer had a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth and was then taken out.
His final line was six innings, five hits, four runs, two walks and nine strikeouts.
He picked up his eighth win.
LHP Brooks Raley followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
RHP Drew Smith came on in the bottom of the ninth and gave up a single and walk and was taken out with two outs.
RHP David Robertson had to come in and gave up a RBI single to Carrol and walked Walker to bring in a run, but then retired Guerriel Jr on a ground-out to close out the game and picked up his 12th save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 5 at the Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m.

Their last series win was against the Philadelphia Phillies from May 30-June 1.
The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings against RHP Ross Stripling, but then came alive in the bottom of the third.
Catcher Francisco Alvarez walked with one out and then CF Brandon Nimmo followed with a single and LF Tommy Pham walked to load the bases.
SS Francisco Lindor followed by flying out to centerfield, but then DH Pete Alonso drew a walk to tie the game.
2B Jeff McNeil followed with a two-run single bringing in Nimmo and Pham.
In the bottom of the fourth, 1B Mark Canha led off with a solo homer and then three batters later Nimmo walked.
Pham followed with a RBI double.
The bats did not do much for the next two innings, but in the bottom of the seventh, Alonso led off with a double and then McNeil hit a ground-out to the right side which allowed Alonso to move to third.
RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI single.
In the bottom of the eighth, Pham doubled with one out and two batters later Alonso broke the game open with a two-run homer his 25th homer of the season.
LHP David Peterson started out well with two scoreless innings, but gave up a RBI ground-out to 2B Thairo Estrada in the top of the third.
Peterson had a scoreless top of the fourth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was four innings, three hits, one run, three walks and three strikeouts.
RHP Grant Hartwig followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth.
Hartwig picked up his first win of his career.
RHP Jeff Brigham came in next in the top of the seventh but had a rocky outing after he gave up a two-run homer to pinch-hitter Blake Sabol and a RBI double to J.D. Davis and was pulled after that.
RHP Dominic Leone and LHP Brooks Raley combined to finish out the top of the seventh.
Raley stayed in for the top of the eighth and struck out two out of the first three batters he faced and was then taken out.
RHP Adam Ottavino came on and then walked 1B Wilmer Flores and then hit Estrada to load the bases with two outs
Ottavino came back to strike out Davis to end the inning.
RHP David Robertson closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Tuesday, July 4 at the Arizona Diamondbacks at 4:10 p.m.

Catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a solo homer with one out and two batters CF Brandon Nimmo hit a solo homer.
SS Francisco Lindor followed with a solo homer of his own for third homer of the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, 1B Pete Alonso walked to lead off the inning and two batters later, LF Tommy Pham continued his torrid stretch with a RBI double.
RHP Justin Verlander cruised through the first six innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh after he gave up a lead-off single to 3B J.D. Davis and then later in the inning reached third on an error by Alonso.
Verlander then gave up a RBI ground-out to Thairo Estrada after he grounded into a double play.
Verlander then gave up a double to DH Blake Sabol and walked LF Austin Slater, but came back to strike out SS Brandon Crawford to end the inning and was then taken out.
His final line was seven innings, five hits, one run, one walk and six strikeouts.
He picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 3.66.
RHP Drew Smith followed with a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Adam Ottavino closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his sixth save.
