The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 6-2 tonight at loanDepot Park and dropped their record to 82-78.

RHP Brandon Sproat started out with three no-hit innings and then had another scoreless inning in the bottom of the fourth, before it all unraveled in the bottom of the fifth.

Sproat gave up a lead-off single to RF Griffin Conine and another single to the following hitter 1B Troy Johnston.

Sproat then gave up a two-run triple to LF Heriberto Hernandez and two batters later, a RBI ground-out to CF Jakob Marsee and a single to catcher Agustin Ramirez and was then taken out.

LHP Gregory Soto came in next and allowed Ramirez to steal second and third.

Soto then gave up a RBI single to 2B Xavier Edwards and a two-run homer to pinch-hitter Connor Norby.

RHP Huascar Brazoban threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Kevin Herget threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a homer.

RF Juan Soto followed with a single and stole second and two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso drove in Soto with a RBI double.

In the top of the second, they had another chance to score after DH Francisco Alvarez led off with a single and two batters later, catcher Luis Torrens singled, but Lindor hit a hard lineout down the right field line, but 1B Troy Johnson caught the line drive and stepped on first for the double play.

The offense did not do much after that against RHP Sandy Alcantara until the top of the eighth after Lindor led off with a walk and two batters later, LF Brandon Nimmo grounded into a fielder's choice to second and then Soto reached second on an error by 2B Xavier Edwards.

Two batters later, 2B Jeff McNeil walked to load the bases with two outs, but then pinch-hitter Mark Vientos flew out to shortstop to end the inning. In the top of the ninth, they went down 1-2-3.

The Met offense struggled all game with men on base and went 1-10 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, September 27 at the Marlins at 4:10 p.m.
