The New York Mets are calling up RHP prospect Brandon Sproat for this weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds. Sproat is projected to make his ML debut on Sunday.

He pitched well in his last start in Triple-A with shutout innings allowing  three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.

Sproat has been pitching a lot better since June 28 and has a 2.59 ERA since then in 44 innings and has had eight or more strikeouts on five starts since then after not achieving that during his first 15 games of the season.

His best pitch is his four-seam fastball that goes into the mid 90s and can thrown as hard as 100 mph and also has a sinker, sweeper, slider and change-up.

Sproat will be asked to bring some stability to the Met rotation after Kodai Senga's struggles and waiting to see if Senga will accept a temporary assignment to the minors.

It will be fun to see Sproat come up following the successes of rookie pitchers RHP Nolan McLean and RHP Jonah Tong as they make a push for the playoffs.
