Mets vs. Red Sox Game 4 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox 7-4 tonight in Boston at Fenway Park and improved their record to 2-2 on the season. RF Michael Conforto got the offense on the board with a two-run homer in the top of the second inning. First baseman Pete Alonso came out of his slump with a two-run homer in the top of the third inning. Designated hitter Dom Smith hit a three-run homer in the top of the third inning which helped break the game open.

RHP Michael Wacha made his Met debut and had a solid outing allowing one run on five hits in five innings. He gave up one walk and had four strikeouts. Wacha featured a lively fastball and a sharp change-up against righties, RHP Chasen Shrieve came in next and gave up a run in two innings. RHP Jeurys Familia got the first two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Seth Lugo came on to get the last four outs in the bottom of the ninth and picked up his first save of the year.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Red Sox at 7:35 p.m.
