Marcus Stroman Goes on IL with Calf Tear

Mets RHP Marcus Stroman (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com)

The New York Mets announced today RHP Marcus Stroman is going on the IL (Injured List) with a muscle tear in his calf. This come off the news RHP Robert Gsellman also went on the IL with triceps tightness in his throwing arm. Now that Stroman is hurt, it hurts the depth of the rotation even more since RHP Noah Syndergarrd is out for the season with Tommy John surgery.  LHP Steven Matz, RHP Rick Porcello and RHP Michael Wacha will all have to play much larger roles than expected. In the meantime, RHP Corey Oswalt, RHP Erasio Ramirez and prospect LHP David Peterson will be considered to replace Stroman's spot in the rotation. RHP Seth Lugo might be considered, but he will most likely remain in the bullpen.  Gsellman will only be expected to miss about a week which will help stabilize the billpen.
