The New York Mets signed outfielder Startling Marte tonight to a four-year, $78 million deal pending a physical. Marte is the third player that the Mets have signed today after they signed Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha earlier in the day. He has won two Gold Glove Awards in his career and was named to the National League All-Star team in 2016.
Marte led the Majors with 47 steals last year.
He will most likely be the everyday centerfielder which would allow Brandon Nimmo to move to one of the corner outfield spots in left or right field.
