Mets Hire Mickey Callaway As Manager

The New York Mets announced today that Mickey Callaway will be named the next manager. An official announcement is going to be coming later tonight or tomorrow night after a three-year deal is finalized. Calloway has been the Cleveland Indians pitching coach since 2013 and helped them have the best ERA in the American League this year. Prior to becoming pitching coach, Calloway has also served as a minor league pitching coach and minor league pitching coordinator in the Indians organization. He comes highly recommended by Indians manager Terry Francona. Calloway has only managed in 2008 for Texas A & M University with a 19-37 record. I think that this is excellent hire by Sandy Alderson. I like that Calloway is experienced with pitching and will be able to help our young pitching staff get back to the success that it had in 2015 and 2016. I also like that he is an outsider and comes in with a fresh mindset. I'm excited to see what Calloway can do next year and going forward.
