Mets vs. Giants Game 126 Recap

3B Todd Frazier


The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-3 tonight for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 56-70. 1B Dominic Smith drove in the first run in the bottom of the second with a solo homer. 2B Jeff McNeil also drove in a run in the second with an RBI triple and 3B Todd Frazier hit an RBI double RF Jose Bautista hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. Frazier drove in another run in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd started out well with two scoreless innings, but gave up two runs in the third inning. He settled down with scoreless innings in the top of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. His final line was 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk and six strikeouts. He picked up his eighth win. RHP Drew Smith came in next and gave up a homer to LF Austin Slater and got the next two outs in the top of the seventh before being taken out. LHP Jerry Blevins followed and retired 2B Joe Panik to end the inning. RHP Robert Gsellman followed and threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning. LHP Daniel Zamora retired SS Brandon Crawford to begin the top of the ninth inning and RHP Paul Sewald recorded the last two outs and picked up his first save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Giants at 1:10 P.M.
