Mets vs. Braves Game 108 Recap

RHP Zack Wheeler


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 3-0 tonight and improved their record to 45-63. After a scoreless bottom of the first inning, 3B Todd Frazier was hit by a pitch and 2B Jeff McNeil doubled in the bottom of the second inning. SS Amed Rosario drove in Frazier with a RBI ground-out. The bats were held scoreless in the bottom third, fourth and fifth innings, but woke up in the bottom of the sixth. CF Austin Jackson drove in a run on an RBI single and catcher Kevin Plawecki hit a sacrifice fly.

RHP Zack Wheeler had another dominating performance with seven scoreless innings allowing three hits and one walk. He had a career-high nine strikeouts. This was his fourth consecutive win and he lowered his ERA to 3.89. He picked up his six win. He has thrown 17 consecutive scoreless innings. He is looking better every start and gaining more confidence. Wheeler is finally healthy and beginning to evolve into a top of the rotation starter. RHP Bobby Wahl came in next and got the first two outs in the top of the eighth. RHP Robert Gsellman picked up the last four outs and recorded his sixth save on the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Braves at 1:10 P.M.
