Mets vs. Pirates Game 58 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 tonight in 10 innings to snap their 3 game losing streak and avoid the sweep to improve their record to 32-26. They are still 3 games behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East. IF Wilmer Flores got the game-winning hit in the tenth inning. 3B Ty Kelly hit a 2 run homer, his first homer of his major league career. LF Michael Conforto had 3 RBI 's with a sacrifice fly and a 2 run homer. This was a huge step in the right direction for Conforto since he has been in a huge slump for over a month. Hopefully this performance can help him get back on track. RHP Noah Syndergarrd picked up the no-decision and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. He had 5 strikeouts and did a stellar job of keeping the Mets in the game. After Syndergarrd was taken out, RHP Jim Henderson gave up 2 runs in the seventh innings. RHP Addison Reed pitched 2 scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth inning. He picked up his first win of the season. RHP Jeurys Familia had a shaky 10th inning with 3 walks, but he still managed to remain perfect with 19 saves in 19 opportunities.
