Mets vs. Braves Game 74 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves today 5-2 to split their 4 games series and snap their two game winning streak. Their record is now 40-34 and are now 3 games behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East. RHP Bartolo Colon took the loss and gave up just one run in 7 innings. He had one walk and two strikeouts. After Colon was taken out, LHP Antonio Bastardo came in in the bottom of the eighth inning and gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and 1 walk. He also allowed a balk. RHP Logan Verrett gave up a run after Bastardo was pulled on. The Mets offense struggled once again and was shutout for the first eight innings. In the ninth inning, CF Yoenis Cespdedes hit an RBI groundout. 3B Wilmer Flores hit an RBI single.
