The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 4-2 at Citi Field tonight and improved their record to 15-14.

In the bottom of the first, SS Francisco Lindor singled and then stole second and advanced to third on an error by Cubs 1B Patrick Wisdom.

1B Pete Alonso then drove in Lindor with a sacrifice fly.

The bats did not do much for the next four innings but came alive in the bottom of the sixth.

D.H. J.D. Martinez reached on an error and then CF Tyrone Taylor singled.

RF D.J. Stewart came up next and broke the tie with a game-winning three-run homer.

LHP Sean Manaea allowed one run on three hits in five innings.

Manaea had four walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

Reid-Foley picked up his first win of the season.

RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Jorge Lopez came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a RBI ground-out, but was able to get the last three outs and picked up his second save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 1 at home against the Chicago Cubs at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Cubs 3-1 And Waste Severino's Outstanding Start

The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 3-1 tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record back to .500 at 14-14.

RHP Luis Severino was dominant from the beginning retiring the first 11 hitters he faced before walking LF Ian Happ with two outs in the top of the fourth.

Severino was able to keep it rolling and had a no-hitter going into the top of the eighth.

He had gave up a lead-off walk and then gave up his first hit to SS Dansby Swanson.

Later in the inning, Severino was able to get a ground-out to 3B Joey Wendle, who decided to throw to second base instead of coming home for the easy out which allowed the tying run to score.

Severino was taken out after the inning and his final line was eight innings, one hit, one run, two walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off double to RF Mike Taufman and after getting the next two outs, gave up a two-run homer to 3B Christopher Morel.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a homer, but did not do much after that.

They managed only six hits and were 0-2 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 30 at home against the Cubs at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Cardinals 4-2 on Walk-off Homer by Mark Vientos

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 in 11 innings this afternoon to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 14-13.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until the bottom of the sixth after SS Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer.

The bats did not do much for the next four innings until CF Harrison Bader delivered the game-tying RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the eleventh.

3B Mark Vientos followed with a walk-off two-run homer to center field.

LHP Jose Quintana had an outstanding start allowing one run on three hits in eight innings.

Quintana gave up one walk with three strikeouts.

He held the Cardinals to 1-12 with runners in scoring position.

It was the first time this season that a Mets starter went past the seventh inning this season which helped give the bullpen a much needed rest.

RHP Edwin Diaz followed with a dominating 1-2-3 top of the ninth and two strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless top of the tenth and gave up a RBI single to LF Brendan Donovan in the top of the 11th, but was able to keep it a one-run game due to poor baserunning by DH Wilson Contreras.

Garrett picked up his fifth win of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, April 29 at home against the Chicago Cubs at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Cardinals 7-4 After Late Inning Rally Comes Up Short

The New York Mets lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4 at Citi Field this afternoon for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record back to .500 at 13-13.

RHP Adrian Houser got off to a rocky start in the top of the first after he gave up a RBI single to 3B Nolan Arenado and then a two-run double to 1B Paul Goldschmidr.

Later in the inning, Houser gave up another run on a RBI single by SS Masyn Wynn.

After a scoreless top of the second, Houser's troubles continued in the top of the third after he allowed a RBI double to 2B Nolan Gorman.

Houser gave up another run in the top of the fifth on a balk and was then taken out.

His final line was 4.1 innings, nine hits, six runs, two walks and two strikeouts.

LHP Josh Walker followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Dedniel Nunez came in next and threw a 1.0 scoreless inning.

LHP Jake Diekman gave up a run in 1 1/3 innings.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the four innings, but in the bottom of the fifth LF Brandon Nimmo drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single.

Later in the inning, 1B Pete Alonso hit a three-run homer, the 200th homer of his career. Alonso is the fourth Met to have 200 homers in his career and is fourth on the franchise on the all-time home leaders trailing Darryl Strawberry (252 home runs) David Wright (242 career homers) and Mike Piazza (220 career homers).

In the bottom of the ninth, SS Francisco Lindor popped out with the based loaded and two outs to end the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, April 28 at home against the Cardinals at 1:40 p.m.
