The New York Mets signed RHP Justin Verlander to a two-year, $86 million deal this morning with a third-year vesting option.
Verlander is coming off another dominant season in 2022 after he returned from Tommy John Surgery and won his third Cy Young Award with a record of 18-4 and a 1.75 ERA in 175 innings.
He also had 185 strikeouts and only 29 walks.
Verlander will be reunited with his former Detroit Tigers teammate RHP Max Scherzer and it will be fun watching them at the top of the rotation.
Verlander is one of the best pitchers of his generation with three CY Young Awards, 9 All-Star game appearances, AL MVP, ALCS MVP and Rookie of the Year.
He is a first ballot Hall of Famer who has dominated for many years and will love pitching on the big stage and bright lights of New York City.
