Sherlock was with the Pittsburgh Pirates the last two seasons to help assist manager Derek Shelton and bench coach Don Kelly. His main job with the Pirates was working with the catchers and defensive run production. Prior to the Pirates, Sherlock worked with the Mets from 2016-2019 as third base coach and catching instructor. Before the Mets, Sherlock worked with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998-2016 as the team's bullpen coach, but also spent time as bench coach in 2003, first base coach in 2004 and third base coach in 2004 and 2014. He began his coaching career with the New York Yankees in the minor leagues with the Rookie-Level Gulf-Coast Yankees and also managed the Fort Lauderdale Yankees. Sherlock worked with the Yankees for 10 years as a minor league player, coach or manager. He has a lot of experience working with manager Buck Showalter since they worked together with the Diamondbacks and Yankees.
