The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 night to snap their four game losing streak and improve their record to 8-7. RHP Robert Gsellman had his best outing of the season allowing three runs on six hits in seven-plus innings. He had seven strikeouts and one walk. Gsellman started the top of the eighth inning, but was taken out after allowing a ground-rule double to start the inning. LHP Jerry Blevins came in next and gave up a RBI single to Michael Saunders to tie the game. Gsellman was charged with game-tying run since he was responsible for runner on third. RHP Hansel Robles followed and was able to finish off the inning on a strikeout to Tommy Joseph. He recorded his third win of the season. RHP Addison Reed allowed a run in the top of the ninth inning, but was able to pick up his fourth save on the season.
The Mets offense was held scoreless for the first five innings. In the bottom of the sixth, the bats started to wake up after SS Asdrubal Cabrera walked and RF Yoenis Cespedes singled with two out. He ended up the game going 3 for 5 with two home runs, two runs scored and 5 RBI's.
