The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 3-2 tonight to snap their five game winning streak and drop their record to 7-4. RHP Noah Syndergarrd started for the Mets allowing 2 runs, but 1 earned in 6 innings on 6 hits. He had no walks and struck out 4. Syndergarrd was only able to throw 87 pitches and had to come out after 6 innings due to a blister that he suffered on Opening Day which flared up during the game. After Syndergarrd was taken out, RHP Rafael Montero came in and proceeded to load the bases. LHP Jerry Blevins followed and was able to get out of the based loaded jam with no runs due to a perfect throw by OF Michael Conforto to get Marlins infielder out at home plate to end the inning. LHP Josh Edgin was the last pitcher of the game and allowed a walk off double to end the game to take the loss.
The Mets offense was able to generate some baserunners, but wasn't able to capitalize with a lot of timely hitters. LF Michael Conforto hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning. 1B Lucas Duda hit a solo homer in the top of the fifth, which would wind up being the last run that the Mets would score.
