Mets Resign Reliever Fernando Salas

The New York Mets have resigned reliever RHP Fernando Salas to a one year deal that is pending a physical. Salas will be making $3 million this year and could make as much as $350,000 in performance bonuses. He was acquired in May from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for minor leaguer Erik Monah. Salas pitched 17 games for the Mets last year with an 0-1 record and a 2.08 ERA and a 3.20 FIP. He had 19 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. Salas has a career record of 19-22 with an ERA of 3.64 and 8.9 K/9 and a 3.53 FIP. He will play an important role in the Mets bullpen this year in the seventh and eighth inning.
