Mets Resign LHP Jerry Blevins

The New York Mets announced tonight that they have resigned LHP Jerry Blevins to a one year deal for $6 million. There is an option for a second year, but no details on the option have been announced yet. This was a huge move for the Mets to make since they needed to bring back Blevins as someone in the pen who could get both lefties and righties out. Last year, he posted a record of 4-2 with an ERA of 2.79 and a 3.015 FIP in 73 appearances. In addition to resigning Blevins, the Mets also resigned reliever RHP Fernando Salas today. The bullpen has significant improved with Blevins and Salas being brought back. The Mets will have several options to go to late in games. The bullpen has more depth than in previous years.
